  • This makes me very excited for the future ;)

  • An Important Streamliner that has been left out.

    The 1935 Harris FWD Speedster.

No bigger than a D-Type Jag or a Miata.

  • Funny how these cars' styling was inspired by streamlining but didn't exercise many *actual* aerodynamic tricks. One look at Paul Jaray or Wunibald Kamm's work will tell you GM had no clue what they were doing back then.

  • Can I have the car used by the mobs? I love it and a Model-A ford.

  • How COOL is this clip! Thanks for posting it. Something I've never seen before.

  • That last car looks pissed!

  • at least they got the elevated highway prediction right.

  • 1:54

There was a model T in the background :D

  • At one minute ten seconds, "turret top" refers to a roof made from a one-piece stamping, rather than the earlier versions which were made from multiple small pieces, with the center made up of a wood framework covered by canvas.

  • @richardcwood1 you are the man

  • My Chevy HHR is real economy and efficiency.

  • 'jam handy productions'? - got my new porn site name

  • Thank you for posting this important video. Without the past technology, we wouldn't have today's technology.

  • I can't wait for those elevated 120 mph highways

  • Remind you of the PT cruiser?

  • its fun to see how they described the future in 30s XD

  • Lol, modern motor cars =P

  • It's funny how they believed this was as streamlined as it can get back then.

  • YES.

    1930S.

    DEPRESSION.

DESIGNERS THINKING ON THEIR FEET AND MAKING EFFORT TO KEEP THEIR JOB.

But seriously the 1920's and 30's seemed so modern for its time. Look around your house, pick something up, was it influenced heavily or invented in the 20s/30s? Probably...

Houses, trains, planes, cars radios bakelite skyscraper television colour film modernism art deco technicolour OMG I am having a 1930sgasm HELP

But on the other hand if you were poor, just forget it no thank you...

  • Better design then the most cars now!

  • Incredible.

  • 120 miles per hour... cute ^^

  • It neat to think we still use a lot of features that they came up with, a smoothed out trunk, covered wheels, and actually considering aerodynamics! Compare these 30's cars to the Model-T(even the model A) and compare these 30's cars to today. They had a lot more advances with a lot less technology in my opinion.

  • I love the old cars, but let's face it: Even the "streamlined" car is as aerodynamic as a piano crate.

  • Wow -- a really crisp print and excellent sound on this one -- almost like it was just done.

  • Precursor to the beautiful orb designs of the 90s (96 taurus, 98 chrysler concorde)

  • That retro future city is absolutely gorgeous.

  • I think the cars looked good back then. They were kinda elegant looking, especially with dual side mount tires

  • ...and it gets a whopping 2 mpg!

  • Still a beautiful car!

  • 最終ログインが3年前とは・・・驚きました!?

  • funny when he says the modern car LOL

  • this was made in the 1930's it is modern at the time you moron

  • u dont have to be an asshole

  • Streamlining was all the rage in this late Art Deco period. Even buildings, fridges and radios were designed to look that way,

  • ...and Smoothed Out Eddie's at the rear. (I wonder who won!! :) )

  • The most advanced car of that era was the Volkswagen.

  • The Beetle when introduced was considerably out of date compared to the competition!

  • == Beetle when introduced was considerably out of

== date No drive shaft. No radiator. No coolant to fool with. 28 mpg on old leaded gas. Don't know what kind of mileage the 1200 cc motor got. It was 'streamlined.' What do you mean it was "out of date?"

  • @Trekkerjon

Yeah, Volkswagens had electric windows and automatic transmissions back then, and featured turbo powered engines and such..

    Idiot.

  • Fooey. The REAL streamlined cars of the 1930s were the Chrysler and DeSoto Airflows. 1936 Chevrolets were old-fashioned by comparison.

  • Yeah, you're preaching to the choir. :-) I was recently at the Henry Ford Museum and was happy to see the '34 DeSoto Airflow on display, although I think it had a greater influence than the exhibit implied.

  • Wow, they forsaw the PT Cruiser!

  • Torpedo cars? Hmmmm

  • @120 = torpedo speed? I drive 140 MPH all the time, and I have an old 90s corvette.

  • @Microglia1
