@xTsukiTsuki for sure !! quebec french have some big difference !! for saying "it's awesome" here in france we say "c'est super" or "c'est incroyable", but in quebec they say "c'est écoeurant" (with their pronounciation it's more like "c't'écoeurant" they pronounce the "c'est" shorter than here) and here in france, the word "écoeurant" means "disgusting" !! so it's an example, but they are many little differences, they used words like "tabernacle" we don't use this word here.
If you want to ask someone for a friendly hug, you would rather say (ex. for same gender hetero women/men who are just mingling): '' Allez ! On s'embrasse ! ''
Not ''Embrasse-moi ! '' For this, you'll either get a slap or get cornered ! LOL !
Embrasser means to kiss. On the lips or on the cheek! Hug is "serrer dans les bras" literally "hug me in the arms" but "serrer" is not oftenly used alone. "Serre moi" can be said but the most common way to say hug is "serre moi dans tes bras". Serre moi is more poetic, romantic though. For a boyfriend it can be used, but for your grand is extra weird. By the way there's a cute french song called "serre moi" (i'm native)
