Not a very good driver, too slow on the shifting. I was better than that when I race, I would power shift. I used to hold up the traffic and race, mostly raced GTO's. But I also had 5 corvettes, not all at the same time. Pretty good for a girl, eh?

@highvelocity123 *sigh* they gear the transmissions on cars that do this differently than street cars- first gear is really long, and they get shorter as they go up. so when you're at 1k rpm in 1st gear, you wouldn't accelerat very fast. and BTW anyone, Ford GT did a 266 mph standing mile.

@elpianistaaltamirano ford gt is the boss, but viper is a 8.0+ l v10 while the c6 corvette's biggest engine is a 7.0 V8 (not sure is this the Base , zo6 , or ZR1). you can get more out of a v10 than a v8 so 231mph out of a v8 is great and it's probably cheaper to mod as they're more v8's on the road than v10's. and also this car is geared to have a very high top speed at low gears. you don't see many cars doing 231mph in 4TH gear...

How come they gear the car so low and using 4 gears instead of using a higher ratio and using 6 gears? Is it weight?

@DylanK811 It is done like this because the less they have to shift the better, and when they are using over drives it is creating more heat in the transmission, which decreases it's life. Plus, when they are pushing against this kind of drag, they have to calculate where the best shift points are going to be: if the RPMs drop out of the TQ band, then they are not going to be able to maintain or gain speed. There are many considerations that go into figuring this out.

i never understood why people do top speed runs in light overpowered rwd cars with no downforce. you struggle to put the power to the ground at the start and cant really make the most of it towards the end either due to high speed instability. you are just wasting precious time fighting for traction at the beginning and playing with yor life at the end......

top speed runs require 4wd traction stability, weight, and sufficent downforce to comfortably milk the powertrain for what its worth.
