Thank god for the Blues Brothers. When the Blues Brothers first started in 1978 the Blues was dieing. When SNL aired Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi in a tv sketch, where they originally were in Bee outfits, people were interested. As the demand for the Blues Brothers grew, so did the demand for other Blues band, literally saving the Blues music genre. That is why in Blues Brothers 2000 there were so many Blues musicians, paying tribute to the Blues Brothers.
