download google earth and go look at the elliptical shape near the taos mountains. Use google earth's "view historical image" feature. This allows you to look at whatever you want on earth, the elliptical in this case, back in time. You can see that when you go five years back that the elliptical is still there, and was not created by the beam of light.

There is a thundercloud, with a classic anvil head, a classic microburst (heavy cold rain) seen underneath, I'd expect lightning from it.The image is made into blocks by jpeg compression. With a better resolution than this you'd see the detail in the lightning (in the original footage it looks like it slants a bit). That's why it's parallel to the side of the image - the blocks are parallel. Photoshop filters will make it even blockier. Listen to the nerds, they speak truth.

I watched the whole video. I really liked it. On the surface, it thoroughly demonstrates what a solitary, funny, talented, probably misunderstood, slightly depressed, maybe lonely guy can do with today's ubiquitous and mind blowing personal technology and a couple of days to fart around in the desert. i don't know what it is, but it surely does not look like lightning to me. the flash disappeared to quickly. besides, he made no mention of thunder. a lightning bolt that big would surely pack some serious thunder. great film man, i am just disappointed you did not get to the mountain.

It's lightning. There is a thundercloud, with a classic anvil head, a classic microburst (heavy cold rain) seen underneath, I'd expect lightning from it.The image is made into blocks by jpeg compression. With a better resolution than this you'd see the detail in the lightning (in the original footage it looks like it slants a bit). That's why it's parallel to the side of the image - the blocks are parallel. Photoshop filters will make it even blockier. Listen to the nerds, they speak truth.
