  • 1:28 is not tied best 103rd in the world! I pull 1:29 for 500m and I'm a J15 for gods sake...

  • Sure maybe he's pulling hard but erging is not rowing... This guy would suck so badly in a boat.

  • 103rd, maybe if you did a 1.28 split time on a 2k :)

  • rowing the best stoprt in the world

  • Pulled my first 500m last week and timed at 1:23 lol on concept 2 erg. 103rd is not true at all.

  • @KyleeChristopher He's probably going by rankings on the concept2 website where maybe 250 people bother to rank their row. Not to mention a person can enter any time they want there. Unless you have a recorded result from a SANCTIONED event then a youtube video means jack squat.

  • Lol 103rd in the world. Every elite, U23 and top Junior male rowers would be able to pull that so.....1003rd?

  • 1st)1.28 isnt ranked 103rd in the world. Most university level men wud be able to pull that.

2nd) Your technique would mean that within the first instant of starting your stroke, you would be in the water.

3rd) Get a new ergo, those models are literally 10 years old n probs dont give you a very accurate time.

  • I'm 15 and i hold 1:33 for 500m? it's not the 103rd best in the world

  • ?v=g2_stWLtGfc

  • 68,000+ views for a decent 500m. Check out some real power erging. Everyone in the 10 Man Squad can do a sub 1:22 500m. I think their average 500m PB is around 1:18.

  • I like Vin Diesel more now I know he likes rowing :D

  • and this when you holddddd the knees down...........

  • TRIBAL TATTOOS ARE SO FAST!!!!!

  • my first 500 i got a 1.32 after rowing 3 weeks, i dont think a 1.28 is 103ed best in the world. i row a 1.27 now ive been rowing 3 months. 500s are my favourite erg by far

  • honestly who gives a fuck whether his technique was perfect, or whether it's 103rd best or whatever the fuck, it says it's his first time doing 500m and i think that's a damn good effort, i'm J14 Girls National champ and my first 100m took me 1.47 so 1:28 is amazing to me! Nice video (:

  • @xxellababiixx

    pfffffft...women's rowing... HA!

  • @novicerower2010 pfft, your name says novice rower?

  • @xxellababiixx

haha I think any sports man is born with the ability to outperform an olympic sports woman, so yes....pffffft women's rowing :D

'Novice rower' doesn't actually tell you that much.

  • @novicerower2010 You are very sexist, and immature, i am a women's rower and also a women's rugby player, to suck it you cum stain!

  • @xxellababiixx A women's rower and also a women's rugby player...

This is more commonly known as a 'lesbian' :D

  • @novicerower2010 not at all, i am very much straight, i just love sport. kthanksbye.

  • @xxellababiixx

haha Very mature in not rising to it. Im impressed...

  • @novicerower2010 yeah you should be

  • @novicerower2010 not at all, i am very much straight, i just love sport. kthanksbye.

  • I row with an 18 year old, going to harvard, who pulled a 1:26 500m on his final piece after a 6k, 3k, 2x1k, 4x500m work out. you might be 103rd out of the people that bother that online

  • This is not a good video. His technique is poor. his posture is equally as bad and placing someone at 103 in the world based on pure strength is arguably, unfair to those who are doing it properly.

  • 1:28? i could do that when i was 16...

  • fail...just get off the machine..you fail.

  • he thinks he's tired after 500m....

  • @realmenrowport1 stick him on a 2k ;)

  • Do that on a single boat and you will be doing scuba diving ;p But good try for first time :)

  • Pretty shit encouragement from the bystanders. He could shave a second off if they shouted at him.

  • Dude, can you give me the name and the group of the song that plays in your video?

  • Last night I did 6000m in 17:36, that's an average of 1:28 / 500m.

  • @DazJam100 no mate, you didnt so stop fucking lying behind the cover of the internet.

  • @MrBreakybar Oh dear, you do seem to have an anger management problem. The fact is that I did, and if you really want evidence I will take a photo of the monitor next time I'm on. The important point is that this was not done on a Concept 2 but on a Proteus PAR-5500 which has a far higher top resistance setting than the Concept 2 and allows you to maintain a 500m time of under 1:30 whilst doing 24-25 strokes per min. Stop being impolite behind the cover of the internet.

  • @DazJam100 your awesome i can do 500 m in 1:10

  • @tikkywikky 12 times consecutively? And I assume you mean 'you're'.

  • @DazJam100 and the world record for 2000 is 5:36,6, making the average 1:24,1,

world record for 5000 by Pincent is 15:17,9 making the average 1:31,8....

I gues you are the too good to compete, dont want to wipe everybody from the face of the earth? are you Chuck Norris by any chance? :D

  • @blynladen As I tried to make clear in an earlier post, my 6000m time is accurate but certainly not due to me being a World class rower (or even a good club rower). It is simply that I do not use the Concept 2 rower. The Proteus rower that I use has a far higher 'top gear' so it is easier to keep a 1:30 pace with fewer strokes per min. I can't match my Proteus times on a Concept 2. I hope that's clear now?

  • 1:28 is not the best in the world, its just the ranked best in the world according to concept2, most people, especially the entire national rowing sqauds of the world dont rank their pieces. Its also only per season so you would have to check previous seasons for all entries faster than yours. But this is ok time considering you have not learned the technique yet, not that 500m is a difficult distance.

  • On 30 second test I went 1:14 lol :S

  • most fucked up technique ive seen.

  • nearly no one posts times on concept 2. your decent highschool rower can pull this. not easily. and it's an impressive time. but definately not 103rd

  • @2TheGuy2 not even decent highschoolers... my whole crew (although best average in the competition) could beat this and we are U14... i havent actually done a hard out 500m but from all the training i would estimate that it would be at least a couple seconds lower - im not even floating my boat here, these are facts

  • @xXhavok1900Xx No, decent highschoolers. Ones that train and row well with good form and technique. I pulled a 1:23.9 on my last one minute test... But that doesn't make me a good rower. An extremely fast guy on the water pulled a 1:34 flat on the same test but he strokes the top quad (I bow). So there are plenty of decent rowers that can't pull this... plus notice the kind of erg he's using. those are REDICULOUSLY heavy to pull on.

  • your gonna kill your back engage your legs more and you'll get that score down...

  • i know a 14 year old that can do 1:24

  • 1:28 103rd in the world? My ass. Ps: obviously shit form.

  • whoa, his technique is completely wrong, there's totally a waste of power and energy because of that... must improve his skills, because he got the strength, but he don't use it.

  • this guy has terrible form... hes ripped and only pulls a 1:28?

the fall of my sophomore year i was skinny as a rail and pulled a 1:31

    this guy needs some technique

  • meh, my last 500m row was 1:27.3 and I'm a fat ass... /shrug

  • sorry, wasn't trying to be negative. 1:28 is pretty dang good for a first time, just he's a crap load fitter than I am, I'd expect more :p

  • dude did you use a stopwatch?

  • 1:28 is 103rd best in the world? 1:28 is easily possible for anyone who's been rowing 6 months...

  • @SwiftHACB Obviously not.

  • @LNOL considering I've done better and been rowing 8 months...

  • @SwiftHACB But you've definitely been an athlete for much longer.

  • @SwiftHACB he's prob going by concept website, which hardly anyone's scores are on >.>

  • @SwiftHACB HAHAHAHA have you ever sustained a 1:28 split for 1:28 minutes?!?!?! hahahahah good one... great job to this guy though, even though the form wasn't "professional", he put forth great effort for his first tome doing a peice on a erg..

  • @SwiftHACB not to mention if he tried rowing like this on water he would go absolutely nowhere. Crash the slide much? haha.

  • @rickgriffin83 crash into frontstop for sure lol

  • @SwiftHACB That is a good time I managed to get 1.34min mind you I am 50.Check Phillip Cameron on the 6000m,5000m,2000m1000m,500m and 4 min.

  • if he hab better technicue his time sure would be much better.....

  • won't lie, thats some of the worst technique i've like ever seen...he will probably fail on the water...

  • xD, if this is 103rd in the world than I am fucking Elvis.

Very good seniors pull 1:28 on 2km -.-'

  • it means nothing if his form is shit

  • Blimey, you'd get nowhere in a boat with that technique! And I'm pretty sure it says 1.34.

  • How the fuck did he do 1:28, when he crossed the line at 1;34, I don't buy that for a second

  • looking at this guys technique , i doubt very much its his first time rowing 500 m, esp if he hits 1.28.... but then we all know that anyway dont we... it's you tube and ul say any thing to be popular...

  • lol im a lightweight and 15 yrs old at about 5 9' and 65kg and i pull like 1:30 something

  • That fine sir is complete bullshit

  • @clebor56 i said 1:30 SOMETHING i did one today got 1:36...

  • @Sigmarian How do you not remember your best 500, you don't forget it. There is a big difference between 1'30 and 1;39 which are both 1;30 something

  • very week -nikša skelin pulled 1:32,8-18.33 6000m

  • for his weight it isnt really somethin special why is everyone so hyped

  • very week

  • 1:28 for your first 500 is a good display of power

  • 1:28 isnt a great score, i can hold 1:16 for a 500m.

  • Can You? Are you either very big, very fit or a serious rower?

  • @ChrisBrett2K im 6 foot 6, weigh 98 kilos and row 6 times a week. down to 1:13 now

  • 1:13 for 500m is fast. What is your 2K time and do you row on the water? Where are you based?

  • @stiffy2332 1:15 is the world record. Congrats your the best in the world now Stiffy.

  • @stiffy2332

thats faster than the world record...

    world record is about 1:14

  • 1;15 is the world record if you are as good as you say you are why is that world record not yours?

  • that c2 is old man and your technique seriously needs work

  • Yeeah, im a thirteen year old girl and can pull more than that in the boat and on the erg. To be honest.. Youre technique umm, sucks :/

  • Hmm your technique isnt very good

  • By '103rd in the world', I guess he means he's looked at splits for 2000m. That means the people setting the times rowed 4x as far as him, with a faster average than his single 500m attempt.

You're pretty retarded to think this places you any where near any kind of world ranking, bro.

  • Huh? No.

This video was posted Aug 30, 2006. The poster claimed it went to #103 in the world rankings (probably tracked on Concept 2).

Today (Feb 18), 1:23 is 46th on the same rankings. By August, such a time will be into the 100s.

    The poster's comment makes sense.

    So chill.

  • 1:23 maybe 46th in the world ranking for this year but that only includes times that people have posted. 1:23 although respectable wouldn't get you anywhere in a real world ranking of 500m indoor rows.

If you go sub 1:20 then you are beginning to get fast. The fast guys all go sub 1:18 which is a lot faster wattage wise than 1:23.

Although I respect cross training athletes 1:28 is fairly mediocre in rowing terms for a guy of his size.

  • you are really gay and you're technique sucks

a quite non muscled person can do much better

  • emo music hahaha

  • im 13 and im pulling less than that maybe work on ur technique and youll get better

  • this is bolocks i can do a 1.24 . and im def not world ranked!!!!

  • Very nice time. Get on the water and try that, it will be interesting to see if you keep the boat upright. If you can do that for 2000 meters on water you are indeed the man!

  • that is the shittest rowing technique i have ever seen. you will go further. faster. if you learn some techique. its not all about ripping the oar

  • @ldonald24 yeh its pretty shit he has to put his hand over his leg cos he doest use the arm body legs technique and his back is aweful

  • @ldonald24 Agreed.

  • @ldonald24 Keep in mind this is only to demonstrate the "diverse capability of a Crossfit athlete". It takes years to get good technique (though the learning curve to start is huge). I agree though, I coach some athletes who pull 1:37 splits for their 2km pieces and they're only 18 and 80kg or less.

  • @ldonald24 dont want to rip the oar haha step up your rowing knowledge. All this guy needs to do is let the hands leed the entire body.

  • I don't know where the 500m comes from.. there is no comparison to real rowing on a machine like that.. hell, it doesn't even replicate the motion involved in rowing. besides, you can't flail around like that in a skull.. you need to be SMOOTH..

  • It's a row perfect. It's actually a better simulation of rowing than a concept 2. Looks really funny though, and it's hard to use!

  • @septembersky7 that's not a rowperfect; it's an old Concept2 model B

  • Oh, you're totally right! They look really similar...

  • I congratulate you for a strong time, but if you were to try that on the water you would either catch a crab or your blade would crash straight into your legs and tip the boat.

  • haha 1:28 does not make you 103rd in the world. im 15 and i can pull a 1:22 but im not world ranked

  • yo youre a tough ass dood

  • over 2k I did 6:15,6 my first year and 1.24 on my first 500 meter. Trust me, that 1:24 wont make you 108th on the world blabla..

  • yo u werent nearly out of breath enough. you could get that time down with some form and maxing urself out

  • hello some one must be good and know about rowing i was trying it for the 1st time 2day got peak time of 1.19 / 500m and finished at 1:24. is tht any good my friends say i should start doing rowing but i have no idea if my time is any good im 16 and weigh 72 kg. I

  • you should give it a shot, but anybody can pull 500m

  • Anyone can pull a slow 500m but not a real maximum effort. A 2K is more taxing but a really flat out 500m is not a pleasant experience.

  • if you look properly when he finishes it says 1:34 on the clock..... FAKE

  • Comment removed

  • Preach it brother, I do 1:31 500m sprint on ergo, did it about 2 weeks ago at fitness first.

sorry, this guy is shithouse, I weight 80kg 18yo raced for 2 years u17 to u19 mens.

The reason this guy is shit is becasue he has no POWER!!! he is limited to the strenght of his arms due it fucked technique.

    NRC forever.

  • What country are you from, do you compete can I look you un in say the nswrowing website? whats your prognostic over 5km? oh 3km coz your jr? dude, the hardest stroke I can do rating like 50! is 1:25 I don't think you lying but fudge Mc'Duff, you must be pritty fit.

I'm only 172cm tall btw, I'll ask my mate what he pulls, he's u19mens at nswis.

  • Comment removed

  • 1:28 is really good for a non-rower, especially if its his first time. Fine if you're unimpressed, but this is definitely, er, not "not good."

I do think pulling at or below 1:30 on multiple 500s is a pretty good mark for a rower. I don't know what my PR 500 is, probably 1:28 or so, maybe lower. 2k PR = 7:28.4, end of my novice year.

  • 1:28 is definitely good for a non-rower doing a 500m for the first time. If you're unimpressed by that, I guess you're just hot shit, but I don't think you're being very reasonable.

You ARE a rower and you just said you haven't made it to 1:28 yet. If this guy is a non-rower and he's beating your goal on his first attempt, I don't see how you can say his performance is not good.

  • Comment removed

  • Sorry for the double comment, but

I do understand the benefits of age, weight, and height on an erg. I might say if you don't understand the benefits of experience, then I don't think you're worth having a discussion with.

It would be much more impressive if he were 15, weighed 145 lbs, and was 5'9". Sure, if it was his first time on an erg and he pulled a 1:28 500m given all of that, he would be fucking AMAZING. No doubt.

I'm just saying the same standards don't apply to everyone.

  • impressive

  • bad form but not bad i guess for first time

  • najpierw rece pozniej nogi . -.- chlop taki a 1.28 jezdzi to wstyd.

  • mmm ok, a experto rower like steve williams, andy hoodge, olaf tufte, alan cambell, etc usually have 5:45 in a 2000m

  • HOLY SHIT!!! that's fuckin fask, imagin doing that on the water.

  • He would go slower.. He's technique needs a lot of improvement, so if he were on the water, he'd fall in at that rate.

It is pretty good though for a first time. If he'd improve his technique, and push that extra bit harder (he wasn't that tired in the end) his time would probably drop a lot.

  • dude the cord is super loose and stretched out too....no way this counts

  • hahah 103 th in the world, man im 18 and i row the same time -.- (not 28 if you watch my profile)

  • OMG!!! your not even doing the stroke right its ment to be arms, body and then the legs you should no that iam 12 and your like 36 You should no that...

  • Legs arms,Arms Legs simple as that.

  • lol not realy, your blades arnt square...

  • monkomcc. you're wrong.

  • k ur all fucking retarded you know none of you did that and kmacsound stop fishing for complements budd go get a life

  • ive been rowing seven months and i got 1:26.2 for my first 5oom. Im only 82kilos...is that good?

  • yes

  • i don't see how this could be 103rd in the world when I can pull in the low 1:30s and I'm just a 138 pound freshman.(I'm bad on my team to so yeah) but still good for you bro for even getting on an erg cause thats just never fun.

  • It's probably 103rd on the concept2 online rankings... That contain no professional rowers basically.

  • Agreed. Such a high ranking is a stretch. I didn't do any cardio training for 6 months and the first time I did a C2 Row 500m I did 1:30

  • ya, that's not right. just about every crew has at least one guy who can pull that. and you need a 1:30 on a 2K to get on the olympic team... so there's a freaking ton of people out there who can pull alot harder than this

  • He cant be 103rd in the world.. Every prof rower does around 1:20.. 1:28 isnt really good. Maybe for a small person like him.

As I said I did 1:24.9 and not even a rower. I am starting my rowingseason this year with 6 time training per week. Ill get 1:20 prolly.

    around 2m and 100 kilo´s

  • I did 1:24.9 my first time. They sad it was kind of good :D

  • you can tell its first timme is technique is poor :P

hands passing after folding his knees sure hed go faster ...

  • I forgot the name of it but I believe the band is AFI.

  • whats the song called bro?

  • AFI , Th leaving song Pt II

  • thanks bro

i found it a couple of weeks ago though

    but thanks anyway

  • The top athletes at a good rowing university hit around 1:15 or so at the beginning, and the rowers on the novice team at the same university all break 1:30 for 500m (not splits, just 500m).

  • loolz

2km, that must tire you the fuck out

anyway i wanna start rowing on water soon

but i need to work on my 2000m

becuz i think thats the distance races are.

    anyway keep at it bro.

  • Actually, 2k is the "sprint" race. The "distance" races are over 3.5 to 6.5km

  • thanks for the info

    3.5 to 6.5km

wow i think that would kill me

    my 2km time is crappy

    8.02

but then again i just started like 3 weeks ago

    i am also pretty skinny

    but enough with the excuses

i am gonna try and go sub 7.45 this week

  • 2k isn't a sprint race, its a normal race lenght. sprint is 500 and 1k. and 'distance' from 6k to 11k.

at least its so in croatia ;)

  • can anyone tell me if i'm on the right track

my time for 500m is 1:35

    i'm 15 and very novice

sorry if i sound needy loolz

  • Dude, if youre 500mm is 1:35 and youre very novice, then youre gonna go somewhere. 1:35 means you are definetly on the right track.

  • thanks bro

its just i don't really have a teacher or a coach to tell me if i'm doing well

    do you row aswell?

  • Yeah Im starting soon. Good luck

  • wow, that means a split time averge of 1:35. Thats very good, i've been rowing for years, I think mine is around 1:40 for 500M, our coach normally makes us do 2 or 5km ergo tests lol :( Im also 15

  • loolz

2km, that must tire you the fuck out

but i need to work on my 2km

becuz i think thats the distance races are.

    anyway keep at it bro.

  • concept2 D 2004 manchester velodrome heavey weight man; 1.22;4.... i couldn't move for 10mins after this, good luck to anyone trying for sub1.20

  • 103rd in the world? I'm pretty sure almost any collegiate rower can go sub 1:28. Hell I've done 8x500m at 1:29!

  • underpants man gaylord..

  • What's the point of this vid? Is it about his tattoos or his crappy technique?

  • pretty sure its the pretentious bumpersticker tattoos and screamo music.

  • where does one go about looking for the top 100 times?

  • concept2 website

  • yeah he is quicker than most beginners but he has shit technique. If he was on the water he would either rip his kneecaps off or crab in the first 100.

  • he'd catch a mayor crab right away and fall after 10 meters

  • no way is this 103 in the world. Best 2k ever was 1:24 average and ask that or any guy sub 6:00 and they can go lower than that.

  • who rowed 2000 meters in 1:24?

  • nah man, avg split /500m was 1:24 is what he means. I think the top spot is held by a kiwi fella, 5:36 or 5:38 depending on who's officiating

  • omg, this guy doesn't even know how to row
