The Panasonic camera I got for my 18th birthday because I am into amiture photography came with an HD mode built in. I did not even use this mode until I started on YouTube.
I bought the Canon Powershot SX130 last August and the zoom sucks! It's very slow and it makes a lot of noise! Just recently the video quality has started to suck also. A line comes down through the video and there is a loud noise coming from the speaker. Out of the box the camera was fine, but a few months later it takes a crap. Oh but the picture quality is amazing! The main reason I bought it is because I thought it would be a good starter camera for a photographer and I was right.
Jon i have a question what do you recommened for a capture card on gaming thats is under 200 dollars and what do you recommend for legl stop motion under 200 dollars?

I just bought a Samsung st65 and the lighting when shot at the tv was pretty bad. Do you know any cameras that are good with that kind of lighting and reasonable cheap. Picture taking not needed. The Canon 7D has been used to make featured films. It's a step above the 60D and produces much more rich picture quality even with film. I personally prefer the 60D for film because of the swivel view, though, but the 7D is a great camera worth listing.
@Jon Hey, In England we have Flip Cameras for our class and they have manual optical zooms, plus the sound quality doesn't sound that bad. Do you think it might be better in the UK than the US?

@TheStarToad500 Yes. You should check out the Gamebridge, which is a USB device that you plug your A/V cables into, and it records video straight to your computer. I've never tried one, but I've heard some great reviews about it.
whats your opinion on the SONY NEX VG20? I was about to buy the VG10 until I heard about the VG20. the vg10 had great reviews. I was about to buy the VG20 but there are a good amount of mixed reviews about it. Looking for a camera that does a little bit of everything. I like the exchangeable lenses and that it takes photos along with video. opinions?
i agree the flip was a piece of crap back in 2010 however now its a decent camera with the ultra you crystal clear video and audio you want proof, look up shaytards and as you can see their video and sound is phenomenal, im not saying Jon is wrong im just saying that his views on the flip are a bit outdated
@Wolfsbane1556 Of course. They fit certain needs. A few I know shoot in an AVCHD file format, which is difficult to edit, unless you have a kick-ass computer like Jon's.

I love my Flip Mino HD, Got it on woot for $35.00 plus 5.00 shipping works great and fits in my shirt pocket. Nice little camera to have in the car. For a $35.00 it works great for the money! This guy needs to compare apples to apples.

ok ur an idoit, the flip mino 3 is $60. not $200. it has zoom. it is 720p so it dosent get that much better, plus if you get a floor model, like i did you can get it for $40!

@jasano1234 I have a Kodak Play Sport HD camera. It is the same size as the flip, good mic, waterproof 10ft (3m), recods in 1080p, 720p, and 480p. Not certain about zoom specifications, 1.5 hr battery, and comes with a 4GB standard SD card. The price is anywhere from $125-$175 depending on where its bought.

canon powershot 1400is costs like 180-200 dollars shoots in 720p with, 14 MP, and a 4 times optical zoom and its the size of your phone( ie iphone, touches)

Having a camera on both sides is something I also really like and uploading directly to youtube is the most important part. Videos cannot be very long however or you will not be able to upload from your ipod to youtube in HD.. you would need to put the vids on your comp and upload it from there. @jacosam62 Editing on the ipod is pretty much garbage.. Well I have little memory left so that may be why but if your using the ipod and want to upload using it then I would say stick to lazy vlogs with no editing.. quick simple. Thats what it is PERFECT for. If your wanting to do good videos with editing then a proper camera would be much better and the computer would be required. Ipod is best for quick vlogs and catching moments.
Jon, what do you think of the Creative Labs Vado pocket cam? I bought it last week and I'm very happy with the picture and audio quality. It's under $100 and it blows the Flip away.
I bought an "HD" JVC Everio camcorder for $300, only to find out it shoots in 1080i rather than 1080p. Looks like shit for fast shots. When you're buying a camera, make sure the resolution is in a progressive format rather than interlaced.

bought a used flip hd 8GB for about 35euro (roughly 50US$) on ebay. works fine and it's enough for what i'm doing (occasional videos of this and that), and the price is more like what it should've been when new lol
that flip thingy replaced my Sony DSC-P73 4MP digital camera with "MPEG Movie Mode".. sound quality was cool, and the picture was great, but it only recorded in 640x480 and the autofocus had a mind on its own (randomly re- and de-focussing)..

1. This is because Cisco discontinued work on the Flip, and thus marked down prices on the Flip series.
2. Digital zoom is what the Flip has, and is not the same as real zoom.
3. The claim that resolution is the only thing that matters is complete nonsense, too.

@singletond11 He is a Youtuber partner, in which Youtube puts ads on his videos. When people go to his videos and/or click his ads, he gets revenue from it. Youtube keeps a part of it.

canon powershot 1400is costs like 180-200 dollars shoots in 720p with, 14 MP, and a 4 times optical zoom and its the size of your phone( ie iphone, touches)
this is the camera to go if your just vloging taking pictures on the go

I like this guy. Like he has said before, he's very passionate about videography. I definitely like filming and want to become serious about it so badly. I just don't have that kind of money to buy the kind of video camera he uses. Let me ask you a question. Would you recommend the iPod touch 4G? Honestly, I like it because you can upload videos to YouTube directly from the iPod and the sound quality is definitely better than the Flip camera. But I also go with my gut instinct and say that the

@jacosam62 Hey man. Are you aiming for vlogging? I use the ipod 4g and it is great. Having a camera on both sides is something I also really like and uploading directly to youtube is the most important part. Videos cannot be very long however or you will not be able to upload from your ipod to youtube in HD.. you would need to put the vids on your comp and upload it from there. Let me know if you have any others questions about it.. Jon probs won't answer mate. If he does.. theres no point.

@MsbShared Yeah. I was thinking about getting the Canon SX30IS. But then I'd always have to borrow my sister's laptop to upload videos. Having the option to upload videos directly from the iPod is awesome. I've used my friend's a couple of times and I loved it. I keep going back to the Canon, and then I'll say the iPod. LOL. I think I'm going with the iPod. Also, I want to get iMovie for it so I can edit my videos.

@jacosam62 Editing on the ipod is pretty much garbage.. Well I have little memory left so that may be why but if your using the ipod and want to upload using it then I would say stick to lazy vlogs with no editing.. quick simple. Thats what it is PERFECT for. If your wanting to do good videos with editing then a proper camera would be much better and the computer would be required. Ipod is best for quick vlogs and catching moments.

Jon, what do you think of the Creative Labs Vado pocket cam? I bought it last week and I'm very happy with the picture and audio quality. It's under $100 and it blows the Flip away.

I bought an "HD" JVC Everio camcorder for $300, only to find out it shoots in 1080i rather than 1080p. Looks like shit for fast shots. When you're buying a camera, make sure the resolution is in a progressive format rather than interlaced.

bought a used flip hd 8GB for about 35euro (roughly 50US$) on ebay. works fine and it's enough for what i'm doing (occasional videos of this and that), and the price is more like what it should've been when new lol
that flip thingy replaced my Sony DSC-P73 4MP digital camera with "MPEG Movie Mode".. sound quality was cool, and the picture was great, but it only recorded in 640x480 and the autofocus had a mind on its own (randomly re- and de-focussing)..
which really ruined a lot of videos..

By the way my dad has a super fast computer he bought all this expensive crap for like 10,000 dollers with fansy prosasers my dad checked online and our computer is faster by 98 pecent then other computers if you where downloading something that would take 2:30 to download it could do it in a few minits
