Yeah, glad you figured it out.
I just find it easier to use it in faces or geometry mode unless doing curves and what not

Thats because you have it on verticies mode.
You need it to be on Shape mode.
On the bottom.
Hi, the problem turned out to be that the platform / entire map was not aligned to the grid (0.5 snap) on the z axis, so when I shortened it on the x/y axis it first snapped it a little upwards to align it to the imaginary grid.

aka solution was to turn off "snap to grid"
What is it that you were trying to do?

what if i dont use textures and just place polys then add texures in the other program i didnt use to place polys

you wouldn't be removing the textures, just the prefixes: eg. MBP/grid_cool2 ---> grid_cool2

this probably should have been in the forums but is it possible to start a map in constructor and finish it in quark or vise versa?
Yes, but you will need to find/replace in the .map for "Album Name/" with nothing to remove them so the textures show up right.
Try making the scale smaller, like 0.125; that seems to work for me.

That sort of thing seems fine to do in QuArK.

Indeed, thats why I pretty much only use quark now.
