Up until now, I really liked this person (I've watched about 20 bigthink videos with him today). But here, the comparison is flawed. I can not believe in his story. I do not see any reason why he (as a child) should have thought of "two-dimensional-fish" with all the described consequences. Why? Because the comparison is misleading in many ways.
IT IS SAD, but here this (otherwise ingenious) guy blends his own memory of his childhood with narratives and beliefs of scientificly smelling tales...
@TheRealFrunsi Let me explain this in more detail: this guy has a gift in the field of popular science publications -- he can explain complex topics in a way that most of us can understand it. A gift that only few of us have.
But, I think that it is NOT OK that such "pop science speakers" should participate in its own history revisionism. Think what you want. But this story is not sound, but sounds like own history revision.
@TheRealFrunsi. Not everybody is like you! It's peoples who are 30 times smarter than you! Its small children who is 30 times smarter than you when you was a child!
Dont compare everybody with your self!
Michio Kaku is a world famous and respected physicist! He was probably 50 times smarter as a child compare to you! And he is probably 100 times smarter than you now! So please shut your lips!
@TheRealFrunsi. Albert Einstein started already as a little child to think about very complex things and matematics! but you don't believe that? Because you as a child never did it? LOL you are so dumb! Peoples like Michio Kaku is probably 100 times smarter than you! When you was a little child, you was probably only thinking about farting, poo and candy. but it is children who is very smart and thinks much more intelligent than you! I am not english, no point picking on my spell
@kenny116116 Well well well guess who isn't alone :D! Well lets go make some quantum tunnels while te others talk to two sticks crossed over eachothe!
technically our own 3d universe is a multiverse, we see what is around us but not the microscopic things on our skin or the cells of our skin or the atoms that make up our bodies. we dont see other galaxies or the cosmic web or the entire universe unless we use tools to see these things and focus on just that one thing. we walk around oblivious to what is going on in the center of our galaxy at that point in time, we only see the past and not the present.
you people should look up the thing called "Reiki" ... it's as interesting am all the theories you can imagine and gives you a new way of seeing everything and a whole lot of possibilities ... look it up.. i don't think you will regret it
@sebliric My dad teaches reiki. I used to do reiki. It was the last supernatural thing i gave up on. There is no basis for reiki, it does not work, beyond placebo.
@sebliric Well, The books iv read about it, make contradictory claims. and what my dad teaches matches non of those books. Its a vibrations, its universal life energy, its energy from the earth, its quantum!, it just works, it doesn't work if you cross your arms, it does, Jezus did reiki or Jezus did not, The Mayans did it, Miyamoto discovered it or he rediscovered it, or he learned it in Tibet (like Jezus).
The more i studied it, the less sense it made. Until it made no sense at all.

Mormons believe in other worlds, but most fish will think is nonsense and just continue swimming with no interest. I am not taking about religion, but maybe some fish have been pulled out of the water before.
I'm 11. I am probably the only one at my age who has ever even thought of quantum physics, wormholes, or gravity in real detail. I am probably the only one who watches the science channel and these videos. I have been an atheist for about a year now because I realized that my (old) religion, Christianity, was all BS. I feel so alone in this world. I wish I was Kaku's son -_-.
@kenny116116 Dr. Kaku believes in God Kenny. Christianity, the religion itself is not BS. Maybe the pastor or the preacher. Don't feel lonely, come outside and hang out with friends.
@chuongldang Stop latching onto the word 'god' as if it actually meant anything. The god Einstein and Kaku speak of has got nothing to do with the magical carpenter form the middle east. Even if there is something out there that could be called "god", your religion would know nothing about it.
@VoreTechz1985 Unchecked emotions are the engine of destruction, a calm and logical mind will strive to learn, create and better itself. A mind that is not calm, that sees the world through its own turmoil will strive to destroy itself and everything around it. Human emotions, over time and with the right nurture will achieve equilibrium, as all natural things in the universe do.
@aei05h1 I highly doubt that humans will last long enough for that to happen. Our greed and self preservation outweighs our desires to build a future for our race. Not to mention the off chance we have an extinction level event. lol
@VoreTechz1985 To bring it down to a personal level, I have little desire for greed but I have a great desire to preserve myself yet I have a great desire to protect others also. I love to learn, I think everything is interesting! Sometimes what I learn makes me feel sad or angry, like when I was younger I worked out that there is no god(s) or heaven or hell. I thought what is the point of life! Logic showed me that the point of life (for me!) is to absorb all things, to learn and grow......
@VoreTechz1985 I no longer felt sad about dying and not been 'reborn' in an afterlife as I was able to see that my life as it is a gift, as is everyone elses. That's just a bit of my story though! I have faith that others eventually will embrace science and logic and realise that it applies to all aspects of life....
@VoreTechz1985 I do think the most likely event to destroy us all will be 'an experiment gone wrong' hopefully our ability to see such things coming (as in the use of extremely complex computer simulations) will avert disaster.
The problem with humans is we often place our faith in things that don't even exist, when we should place our faith in each other and realise through education and trust that we are 'one', like all things are.
@aei05h1 The most likely event to destroy us all is some politicians f***cking things up in a war or something. I have more faith in math and science than anything else.
My one beef with his stories is his fish story is identical to Carl Sagan's explanation of the 4th dimensions (with his flat landers and what not)...which is from a long time ago. I wonder who came up with this story first.
@oldi184 not necessarily... adding a new dimension doesn't necessarily increase speed, in fact, it almost certainly doesn't. For instance, just because you can walk side to side in addition to forward and back, that doesn't mean you're intrinsically going to go faster when moving side to side, does it? remember, light moves at 299,792,458 m/s. Our fastest construct is Voyager I which moves at about 15,000m/s (I believe, it may be slower) so let's not jump the gun on outstripping light.
@leerman22 Not in the sense that we are talking about it, we mean then next dimension of *space* If that makes more sense. :) Supposedly there are 11 *dimensions*
what if we ourselves are a dimension, our own conciousness is our dimention and our bodys are mearly a portal in which we move around in this world. so were living an one dimention and interacting with another sort of how say xbox kinect works. we live in a physical world and through the motion sensor we can interact with a very linear and condensed world, so its like 2 seperate dimentions yet we can still do things in both of them without entering or leaving either
