When I would arrive at the track on a practice day, I would strain to hear your vocie as I made my way to the stands from my parking spot in the infield. When I would hear it, I knew the long winter was over a fabulous month lay ahead. God has not only blessed you but the people you may have had contact with.
RIP Mr. Carnegie...I absolutely loved him talking about calling one of Foyt's 500 wins as he emerged from smoke....Indy will never be the same, and Mr. Carnegie will never be forgotten.
a true legend...privledged to have had the many opportunities to be a part of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and hear who was simply the very best announcer in history.
Tom Carnegie is a legend at the 500. There was nothing like being at the track and hearing his voice echo over the loud speakers in the early mornings when the track opened. I would always smile and get a warm feeling hearing his voice the first time in the day. Nothing like it.
I was a good friend of Tom's sons back in Indy. Spent many an overnight with Bob who was my age. Mr. Carnegie was always very pleasant to be around. On those Friday evenings as we ate our 10 cent frozen pizzas from Seven to Eleven, being in Mr. Carnegie's presence was being among greatness. My condolences to Bob and Blair. Niven Drybrough
