Very impressive! Keep in mind people: for all of the nit-picky minor differences, all of these amps would cost countless thousands. One pedal that can get REALLY close = $300. Just saying.
youtube is both great and awful for audio product reviews. Great that you can see what the product has to offer, but awful cause you can't really hear them due to the low audio quality
I will say that this is an impressive re-creation and you did a great demo.... but the real amps just sound better. I started out not watching the screen so I could get a clear opinion and then looked back after the fact.
I'm not hating, we just haven't replaced real amps yet
@neteraser Probably because you're not inside the studio listening to them work. Youtube compression you know? I would bet the Multidrive sounds even better "in person".
@iagobroxado In my life I only owned and recorded Fender-like all-tube amp. There was no high-gain channel. But I've heared Marshalls in studio... Let's say there's no reverb and assume that new Marshalls are crappy... yet I can't believe that they sound that bad... I don't like the sound at all... I don't believe this video is true at all. Still, I do believe that the pedal is good, and I'm going to get it anyway.
@neteraser I just refuse to believe a serious company like Empress would record a crappy amp intentionally just so their pedal would "win". By the way, I don't have any of their products (most are too expensive for me) and the tones here are not impressive at all ( maybe for a number of reasons: Youtube compression - way the amp and pedal were recorded, hell knows). I would suggest Empress to redo the demo all in video, no cuts, and that we could actually see the guitarist playing.
@iagobroxado Sorry, I have no intention to harm the good reputation of Empress Effects. I just say what I feel. I'm waiting for some home made demos of this pedal. People please, record something!!!
@neteraser yeah, ok, It's only that I always imagine everything we hear on youtube actually sounds different in person, because there's always this compression that kinda kills the difference between low and high volumes. Youtube it's good a way to get some notion about how a pedal (and amp too, for that matter) sounds, but not really the best way.
I hope to get this pedal as soon as possible. This is THE BEST. I know coz I have Empress Effects tremolo which is absolutely amazing. It's the only pedal I haven't sold coming through hard time. P. S. I'd never believe that 3-in-1 pedal is good, until it comes from Empress Effects.
The most relevant demo video I have ever seen before. Thank you so much to introduce such a good pedal with different amps. Really good pedal. Too much knobs, too much possibilities for me, but what a incredible pedal! Thank you for the video.
assuming that I let all of them turned on into my prestet, if I turn the overdrive and distortion volume down to ZERO and the fuzz turned up to 12' will I got ONLY the fuzz sound?
it means, even with the effect dip internal switch turned ON, will be the VOLUME knob that will put it into the chain? or turning the effect on will interfeer into the final sound, EVEN with the volume of the mod down to zero?
Great job. For the most part, I could tell the difference between the amp and the pedal. But the differences were small. Considering the cost of having all those amps, and then touring with them, buying a multidrive to be able to emulate all of those amps in one pedal is very, very intriguing.
Are the different settings saved and then selectable or do you have to dial each one in idividually? It would be nice to see how the pedal is set in order to get the 'ac30' tone, or the JCM45 tone, etc.
@bloodySunday77 I wasn't in some cases, but it was predictable that the amp was first and the pedal was first. The difference was audible, and the amps did sound more authentic. Do you disagree with that? I don't think the empress guys would...
@jmkokura But what I am saying is that you could READ what you were hearing... the differences were really minor but judging from the Proguitarshop video, I think the distortion might indeed be the weaker part here (the OD and the fuzz sound great).

It sounds good but has a sterile tone in comparison to the amps.

that jcm800 tone on the multidrive really doesn't compare. bummer.

Hey Dan, how about posting the settings you used on the multidrive? It would be great if you could do that.

the pedal sounds like a pedal; but great comparison!

I would love to see the settings for each sample.

I didn't know that Daniel Tosh was working for Empress.

It could be youtube audio for all I know, but the pedal seems just slightly darker than the real thing.
But other than that minor difference, VERY impressive nonetheless. I'll have def. to try this thing out.

Dude, that's not XY, it's more like DIN (approx ORTF at 90 degrees)

I'd love to see another video like this one, except showing the pedal's settings. I want to know how you got that JTM45 sound!!!

The only thing is that I don't like the sound of amplifiers in this demo... it doesn't feels like a real tube amp recorded in studio...

JTM45 and JCM800 settings sound pretty good, but you guys are using some pretty colored pres. No Hardy/APIs/Poticos around? Single coils?
