coldsores only appear onTOP of the lip, thats when you know it definately is a coldsore, if its just around or near the lip it may be acne, people get it all the time.

@LaRezNar i disagree, they arent just on top of the lip. if you get them often, you know what they FEEL like, not just look like.

Do you suffer from painful cold sores? I did too for a very long time. I got them when i was a young child and struggled through my childhood years, shying away from people at school cause i had disgusting cold sores on my lips that had people asking every 5 minutes"what's that on your lip". I was tired of living my life like this! Finally i found a way to take control of the situation and reduce my outbreaks to 1 a year and my outbreaks last only 1 day now. i used to put zovirax on the cold sore but it didn;t realy help. the best thing for cold sores and herpes is valtrex. these are pills taken once or twice a day. consult your doctor. they are really expensive! i live in greece and these pills cost 140 euros without insurance. In greece the zovirax cream is very cheap and affordable even without health insurance

Take a pill as soon as you feel the little tingling sensation on your lip before the cold sore breaks the surface. The herpes will immediately stop. After 12 hours take another one. the cold sore goes away and never breaks the surface. It really works. When I first tried Valtrex i just couldn't believe it. I was amazed how fast it worked, it was like magic. Had I not taken the Valtrex pill, I would have been stuck with an ugly, painful cold sore for at least 10 days and then a red mark.
