  • cryengine 2 is better

  • Looks like WoW. Too plastic for me.

  • Were do you download their engine, I head it is open source?

  • haha this games is just coming out now

  • Id Software's NPC models always look like clay models.

  • Dude, what the fuck are you talking about. Yeah next genderation. right. Go fuckyourself. You jsut wasted 500,000,000.00 $ of the world money making a new game off the bases of, hey lets draw my name decals on the mountain yeah thats new, and hey lets make a MMO FPS that is next generation yeah top secret BS total waste of money and nothing new. Great game and new story but really dude nothing new .

  • crytech stole the megatexture technology for crysis 2

  • @jungleman68 who says crysis 2 or cryengine 3 are using megatexture? if they did that would be in every video interview or marketing statement

  • There's abit penus in the sky at 2:09, woooooooooooooooop

  • this is not borderlands, its RAGE, a new game released in a year or so

  • i still think source is the best engine

  • The first game makers just teleported to 2009 and WOW

  • this "new" engine already looks dated and old compared to the newer engines out like Crysis and Unreal III. To bad.

  • @illmagnified please note this was posted in 07

  • @Smalls989 crysis was released just months after this video was uploaded. id are going the console way.

crysis is the best example, look at crysis 2! 2 years in development by now - i still hope its going to play well but 360 version screens = your average console fps, pc screens and render trailers = crysis 1 graphics.

both of those better run in highest possible settings on my 5850 (!) or theyre a bad joke, when you take into account what they actually brings gameplaywise (little new).

  • @Smalls989 Crysis and unreal tournament 3 were released in 2007

  • @Smalls989 please note Crysis was released in 07.

  • @Smalls989 crysis came out in 2007 :L

  • @Smalls989 crysis 1 was realesed 07...

  • @comicguy00 thanks tips so was this video

  • @illmagnified do you realize that this is an old vid?

  • what are you talking about- this is Borderlands and its tech, doesn't matter if its an "old" vid the technology just got released.

  • You know that they did upgrade the Engine since 2007?

Also it wasn't released yet as far i know ID Tech 5 is much more powerful than Unreal Engine 3.

  • Dude Borderlands already has DLC content

  • Comment removed

  • @illmagnified d Dude borderlands is not using id tech5................ it uses Unreal Engine 3......

I was talking about ID Tech 5 which wasn't released.....

  • Also Borderlands use Unreal Engine 3.......

  • @illmagnified You mean you can actually tell the difference?

    GO OUTSIDE!

  • @egdeltur666 - wait wait- So because I can tell the OBVIOUS DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CRYENGINE AND THIS ENGINE- means I don't go outside? Hey faggot I bet my girl is 20 times hotter than anything ur hittin- and my Corvette beats any dead beat piece of shit car your pushin, i hope you atleast have a good pair of walking shoes pussy. "Go Outside"- Coming from the same person whos watching "ID's Software Top Secret Game Engine" LMFAO- Someones trying to be cool internet tough guy.

  • Cormak is a geek, but the good kind of geek without him gaming wouldn't be where it is now. Wolfenstain and doom...:) this guy's a pioneer and im sure he will impress us many more times

  • Yeah idd and even source engine is based on quake engine :)

  • @DominikWidomski

dont forget most entertaining quake :D

  • Carmack is such a nerd, right up there with gates, they even sound similar, but hes inspired me in many ways. respect the geek.

  • yea him and gates may be nerds but they're rlly intelegent

  • You've never heard of id software? id has been around for a long, long time. As in.. mid 80's. John Carmack has been influential to a point you have no idea then. Games today would not exist in the way they do without him.

Yes, even games that aren't 3d first person shooters.

    How, you say?

Well.. since he coded the engines pretty much single handedly to Wolfenstein 3d, Doom, Quake 1, 2 and 3, the game developers and hardware manufacturers around the world would always look forward to his

  • speeches to where he thought hardware and game technology was currently and where it would be in the near future and where they should be developing the hardware for in the far future as well.

He didn't just mean 3d, he has done plenty of 2d games as well and still does them occasionally for cell phones and such.

So yes, he was very influential in getting mainstream support for porting games to Linux, to getting OpenGL more widely used, and recently .. finally coming around to believing

  • in some aspects of Direct3d/Direct X.

He doesn't like the above because of 'shitty' code and because of the fact that its Windows specific and thus you can't port it trivially to Mac or Linux.

OpenGL is not set on one specific operating system or hardware type. It is merely up to the graphics card manufacturer to support OpenGL in hardware and the operating system itself to add support for it.

Seeing that it is an OPEN standard, OpenGL exists on many platforms.

    Look him up on wikipedia.

  • Carmak is the man!

I think I'll always be an ID Software fan.

  • Really, me too, even their earlier games like doom 2 and quake were great with great replay value

  • id softwar rules on gaming! =)

  • Nice

  • you're wrong

  • you are wrong...thats Id tech5 engine, not any unreal engine....

  • he's not wrong... that's what he thinks donkey arse-.-

  • hha lol

  • lol wtf! this id tech5 engine! noobie!

  • lool Id software has been one of the lead companys that all other companys has be based on, mostly all BIG companys like valve has bought or based thier engiens on Id tech, Half-life 1 uses a heavy modified quake 1 engine

  • check out the cryengine for crysis

  • nice
