There are the (very creative) lyrics, then there's the vocal melody, next we have the choir's lyrics and harmonies, then we come to the polyphonic keyboard lines with several effects he needs to keep in mind while performing, then the the guitars, bass, and drums, and sometimes orchestra to boot. Rap doesn't compare.
