Just to check that I understand properly, do you first get Kontakt with no libraries, and you buy individual sound libraries? If so, which one is this?

@bluie3 You can get the Kontakt player and some free sounds from the native instruments web site. This acts as a demo.

You only have the option to really buy Kontakt at full price with all the sounds.

Though alot of Native Instruments other plgins piggy back on the Kontakt software.

So all the drum plugins they do, retro machines, pianos etc etc you can buy separate but also use their Kontakt Software.

I have a quesion about adding libraries to Kontakt. With some sample libraries, just going to ''add library'' on the left seems to work to add those samples to a row of sample libraries on the left on the screen, from which you can choose whenever you open kontakt. (they also get a fancy background picture. However, this does not work for all the sample libraries I tried to load.It seems to only work for the ones that have a NKX&NKX file in the root. I''m new to contact.How do I add those the ?

@PowerRedBull disappearing libraries and pre sets is something that has haunted a hand full of users for a while.

Answers are reasonably easy to find with the power of google and the native instruments forums.

I wonder if the libraries your trying to import are compatible or not?

Well i indeed have read more in the meantime about this. IT seems there is the '' powered by kontakt'' difference in both. So that explains why it doesnt always work. I wonder how you can see beforehand which libraries are indeed powered by kontakt. Is there a list of this somewhere..or do certain brands usually have it or so?

I am a guitar player to and have the rig kontrol 3 and I am learning to play keyboard so i can compose this sort of music but if I can do it with a guitar! Why not :D

Yes the rock band guitar is from the video game. you can also use it as a cheap alternative to having a midi guitar.

@Paolettamusic13 Kontakt can take some serious power to work.

I suggest you have plenty of memory (i have 6 gigs ram) I also recommend a good soundcard with good ASIO drivers.

I was using a creative xtremegamer in the PC but mainly use the audio interface of my Native Instrument Rig Kontrol.

Make sure you audio buffer size is set high enough to stop clicks and pops and cut outs.
