It's a sad time for both airlines...however ,being a Continental employee for 24 plus , I wish all the United peeps out there...let's all just get along....
@4everugly I'll tell you now, I'm a second Gen United Employee, and I can tell you this much, While the CO name is going away, and the UA colors are going away. The Airline's True strength Was, Is, and Will Always Continue to be its employees. From BOTH Sides of the fence, We're all on the same team now, and it's up to US To build an Airline we can ALL be Proud of.
back in the mid 70s,after the afternoon shift a few of us would go to a bar in newarks ironbound.there were ea,aa and mohawk employees also there,we all got along,we shoot pool and have a few beers, never bad mouth the other airline.we respected each other and did the same job.its sad the way some of you feel but i guess times have changed.love the video.
I've been involved with United for my whole life. Mother was a 40 year, now retired Flight Attendant, I now work for United too. I have seen many changes over the years, both good and bad but, as a die-hard United supporter I will say: This merger was hard for me to take at first, but as I see continuous integration changes and meet more of my Continental coworkers all I can say is I'm going to be just as proud to work for the NEW United, and can see the BEST of BOTH Airlines will be preserved.
UNITED........WHERE were they uninted exept confusion!and bad service!!! CONTINENTAL YA"LL need to show them how to run a FANTASTIC SERVICE!!!JUST LOOK AT THE CSI REPORTS CONTINENTAL employees you have a hard job trying to teach united how to run a great airline! ya'll need to tell them what a proud bird with the golden tail means. AT CONTINENTAL AIRLINES WE REALLY MOVE OUR TAIL FOR YOU!! I HOPE THAT NOW CONTINENTAL IS THERE THE OLD UNITED ANTIQUE PLANES WILL BE RETIRED. REMEMBER Continental!
While United may not have had the best service over the last decade...most of the United fleet is young to middle aged with a few exceptions DELTA on the other hand is retiring their DC9-50's in favor of MD90's purchased from other carriers....
I guess what I'm trying to say is I feel your opinion is based on the exterior and interior appearances of the aircraft... I don't know how often you may have the opportunity to fly United however their recent investment into painting and refurbishing the interior shows and feels great this has been done on the A319, A320, and the B767 UAL is also working on the 757's refurbishment currently...

@rickynovosad the proud bird was a long time ago! sure, continental was a great airline in the 60's and 70's. but frank lorenzo took care of that. continental has had two bankruptcies. what great service? my passengars at ua are complaining about the continental influence creeping into the cabin. we used to serve starbucks coffee. both regular and decaf were brewed. now we serve some cheap continental crap, and instant decaf. that's just a tip of the iceberg!

@MyleneJ what's gone downhill? it's clear you a not a flight attendant! well, i am, and with more seniority then you have been alive! my passengers complain about the service going south. if you compare it to dept. stores, ual was a macys, or bloomingdales. continental was pennys. now, with all the free white trash upgrades, we are turning into wal-mart!
@justjack78 I tried to stay positive but If you want to throw your seniority around fine, but I do come from the stock of a 40+ year UA Flight Attendant, So i know quite well what goes on above the wing. Oh, and for the first 10 years of my life I spent every month flying back and forth between Stapleton International for her bidding. So I've experienced United all of my life, including the time that -I've- been employed by United, And I can tell you My customer feedback had been mostly positive
idk why everybody is saying R.I.P Continental they didnt go bankrupt they merged it happened to be the other way around several times Continental was going to buy out united but it nvr happened b/c united routes didnt make enough money for Continental to buy them out so instead they merged and in the agreement they kept Continental logo but kept the united name because more people know united worldwide than that of continental so marketing wise it made more sense to keep the united name
It sounds stupid but the thing that will make this a great merger, is that the airlines were two mostly different airlines. It expanded their oppurtunities.
Bunch of United haters.. Seriously. I understand it's a sad thing to see Continental go. But from an Internal viewpoint its a a good thing for both carriers. United gets Continentals Routes, Customer service, and -everyone gets new airplanes, more flight choices, and Everything. Its a name and a Paint change, Don't start hating before you experience everything first.
I have many friends at both Continental and United you may want to know they are merging both of the companies this is a TRUE MERGER were they are integrating the best of both companies together predominately Continentals brand you'll notice if you fly United frequently the UAL service is starting to mimic that of COA so careful what you say Continental had a stronger brand United had the better name Continental has better Customer service and policies United has
All I have to say is "Time To Say Goodbye to UA's iconic tulip". The whole rest, I'm fine with it... I'm going to miss their old grey livery as well as the newer white/blue livery :'(
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CONTINENTAL UNITED They are gone like northwest airlines. It is to PAINFUL to wach this I never took continental airlines CONTINENTAL&UNITED IS GONE <8::(
There are a lot of feelings on both sides of the fence, from United and Continental. Some bad, Most are good. All I can really say as a Second Generation Legacy United employee, I think this is going to turn out great in the end. The name may stay United, and the Colors may be Continental but it's the core spirit from both airlines will be what makes the New United shine.
I saw the newly painted 777 at Narita the other day. There were two of them. One had the GE engine so I was like "Phew, they're only gonna repaint the originally continental planes with the new logo.." then I looked at the other and it had PW engines. I was like "NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Stop taking away the battleship gray's & the blue/white from meeee!!"
This is your opinion and i respect it. But as a retired delta airlines captain for 30 years. I will tell you right now that northwest airlines and continental especially were one of the most disliked airlines companies out their. Not only by customers but even by employees. Northwest had pretty old planes in service. was. Continental, same thing, old 737's, 767, and 757. But to make a point, these two airlines got to go. @asianwholikesplanes You're not the only one who thinks that either. There are several local CO ground employees that were hoping to get rid of the globe and what not, saying its too "old". I understand the idea of merging both liveries (better than that crappy Delta "nod" to northwest) but to me its just not the same United without the Tulip.
Hope all do well with this merger ... a smooth, hopefully quick and easy transition into one airline ... hope the new United will take only the best parts of the old UA and CO ... "Let's work together" is a good slogan not only for the merger but also for all of the StarAlliance ... just remember ... we are all part of that huge airline family.
hello to all my new continental f/a's on behalf of myself, we welcome you with open arms! i am so excited about the new livery, routes, and MANAGEMENT! don't be afraid. i have been here several 26years, and our bark is worse than or bite!
Losing one's corporate culture is always hard. It has happened to us at SkyWest, on our Delta Connection side of the house. But at SkyWest/United Express, we are looking so forward to the incorporation of the best of all of both of your ideals. We believe what will result is not only the world's largest airline, but the World's Premier Airline. Everyone's airline of choice! I'm looking forward to many, many new friends! Here's to the Restoration of the Friendly Skies via The Proud Bird!
@iloveunitedairliness Our corporate culture and individuality were rather forcefully taken from us. We are forced to wear their uniform, Lost our own seniority on our own aircraft, unless we pay $400, and Delta took over all our travel benefits, our travel office which used to be the best in the biz no longer exists. We can't even say we are SkyWest Airlines any more. They pretty much took us over, but gave us none of the perks.
To my CAL friends, I applaud you for all you've been through in this industry. You've been through amazing challenges, and yet you've remained loyal and steadfast to your company, to your comrades, and to your passengers. I am honored to have served with you as a fellow CAL employee for 15 years. This merger is yet another challenge for you and one in which I know you will rise to the top. Never forget where you've come from; it has always made you better. Now go show UA how to do it!
Just speaking as a consumer, I think the combined logo paint job is going to confuse the customer. So much so that when they are upset about paying extra for a pillow, a box lunch, and checked bags, that they won't know who to be pissed off at.

Pretty fuc*ing disgusting. We save UAL's weak dick ass and now we gotta go around with their name ! "Oh the Untied name is more recognized" - yeah....recognized for pissing people off with poor customer service !!!!
@savagecub Reality check, you saved nothing for United, we were already developing a better product then yours, twice as many airline seats, and twice the number of your employees. Remember the percentage owned of the new company is 55 percent United and 45 percent Continental so where do you get off? Lets try to not be so bitter and make the best of it. I am not overly joyed about your outdated 90's look in lieu of our 2004 updated look but I am gonna deal and so should too, grow up.

Anyone with two braincells to rub together knows that untied would have been finished in about 18 months the way Tilton was running it. If untied's management is so great why are 80 percent of them GONE ???? Why is Tilton's new title Chief "NON" Executive Officer ???? What does that say ???? You better thank GOD Continental is bailing your weak ass out !!! Or you'd be in one of Uncle O's breadlines.
@savagecub No you have it backwords right before merger the rummors were flying thay CO could go back into bankrumptcy with in the week of the merger the anonce ment came so UNITED BAILED YOUR ASS OUT AND TO SWEETIN THE DEAL THEY SAID THEY WOULD PUT SMISEK AS CEO
@savagecub Before you speak take a look at how many times Continental has filed for bankruptcy in the past! United only filed one time after 9/11 as did so many other airlines that were hurt so badly by that horrible day! United is a classic airline, we had to bail out the shitty auto makers like GM
@UAL591 as well after 9/11 airports won't really let you stand on the fence line and film anymore, there have been incidents involving people trying to blind pilots with lasers and such
Very moving video, I will miss our newly updated blue livery ( ual ) and our iconic United tulip. I realize we still have the United name but its still sad to see our beautiful livery end. I embrace all of my new comrades at Continental and will do anything I can to be one with, and help out my fellow crew no matter what airline we came from.
@nycflyer747 :-) I understand both airlines are losing much of their identity in this merger it is curious though how much of it will be put togther as a former Houston Citizen of 13yrs and son of a UA FA (ORDSW)
1:37 I worked N745SK this week. I love working for United Express ; I am looking forward to meeting many, many new friends from Continental. We at SkyWest are already your friends! I am hoping our level of service will match yours!
@nycflyer747 Dear Colleague... Yes I think we at (UAL) are very aware of your situation, and although we may not show it... We feel it.... I got chocked up looking at this video because of the UAL I came to work for, 20 years ago... That company is gone as well. We are both loosing a little bit of our identity. And even though the morale is gone at UAL... We shared huge sacrifices in order to keep it going. Our awareness of how you feel, keeps us muted when we hear superiority comments.
@ajaxnmiami Yes, we here at CAL are all worried about what they will do to us with the seniority issue with filtering us in together, being there are 18,000 UAL and only a mere 8,000 CAL. The fair thing to do is the obvious,
2 ual for 1 cal. and also provide the best retirement package for all those at both companies whom want to retire :-) I cant wait to work all together with you guys at UAL
I think the best way for the seniority list.....all employees current and retired to be meshed together....all on the same playing level. Retired employees, management,pilots,ground,f/a and any other group. Seniority period. Looking forward to meeting all my new co workers.
I wish they were real a/c instead of animie, but I know that would have been even more of a challenge. This video is beautiful, sad, powerful & moving. I love this song! Thank you so much for your hard work in making this. -Steve
thank you to whomever made this. i have watched it over and over. after years of bad publicity, it was so nice to see this. again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you! jack laxsw
@justjack78 Jack I have done the same thing, I used to work for United and I will always love United, its always going to be a part of me, I actually cry everytime i watch this, lol.
as a flight attendant for united for many years, this brought me to tears. it wasn't tto long ago that i wasn't sure if there would be a united airlines. i to wish we kept the blue, but better than that, we have the name, we can always change the livery. thank you to all who beleived in us, and kept flying us. maybe one day, i can thank you personally in the friendly skies.
I am very much going to miss the United blue livery. Forgive me for being negative, but the one that is coming about from this merger looks terrible. They should have kept the blue even at the expense of United's name in my opinion.
i want continental back :'( im sad

Losing one's corporate culture is always hard. It has happened to us at SkyWest, on our Delta Connection side of the house. But at SkyWest/United Express, we are looking so forward to the incorporation of the best of all of both of your ideals. We believe what will result is not only the world's largest airline, but the World's Premier Airline. Everyone's airline of choice! I'm looking forward to many, many new friends! Here's to the Restoration of the Friendly Skies via The Proud Bird!

@scubawrestler what happened on the Delta Connection side of the SK ops after DL/NW tie up
iloveunitedairliness 1 year ago

@savagecub What in the heck are you talking about. You are NOT saving UAL. It's a merger not a takeover. You idiot.

@ajasmerify
Or you'd be in one of Uncle O's breadlines.
savagecub 1 year ago
@savagecub No you have it backwords right before merger the rummors were flying thay CO could go back into bankrumptcy with in the week of the merger the anonce ment came so UNITED BAILED YOUR ASS OUT AND TO SWEETIN THE DEAL THEY SAID THEY WOULD PUT SMISEK AS CEO
iloveunitedairliness 1 year ago
@savagecub Before you speak take a look at how many times Continental has filed for bankruptcy in the past! United only filed one time after 9/11 as did so many other airlines that were hurt so badly by that horrible day! United is a classic airline, we had to bail out the shitty auto makers like GM

Hey thanks for the video, I will truly miss United's livery for sure

@houst29476
I would love to there are 2 things I need to find out to be able to accomplish that though
1) Online footage
2) Airport Ground access
Of which I do not know where to acquire footage online & for the other would need to be an employee for the company itself.
If you know of any websites for this please let me know.
Thanks for your post :-)

Let's work "Together"

1:37 I worked N745SK this week. I love working for United Express ; I am looking forward to meeting many, many new friends from Continental. We at SkyWest are already your friends! I am hoping our level of service will match yours!
scubawrestler 1 year ago
@nycflyer747 Dear Colleague... Yes I think we at (UAL) are very aware of your situation, and although we may not show it... We feel it.... I got chocked up looking at this video because of the UAL I came to work for, 20 years ago... That company is gone as well. We are both loosing a little bit of our identity. And even though the morale is gone at UAL... We shared huge sacrifices in order to keep it going. Our awareness of how you feel, keeps us muted when we hear superiority comments.
ajaxnmiami 1 year ago
@ajaxnmiami Yes, we here at CAL are all worried about what they will do to us with the seniority issue with filtering us in together, being there are 18,000 UAL and only a mere 8,000 CAL. The fair thing to do is the obvious,
2 ual for 1 cal. and also provide the best retirement package for all those at both companies whom want to retire :-) I cant wait to work all together with you guys at UAL
brennenjc 1 year ago
@brennenjc
Out of Curiosity do you want all current employees to be on equal standing for traveling
or maintain the Seniority by position in the company (management first then pilots etc) from the way I understand it at Continental
or
United with the Retirees, then current employees by seniority
or how would you propose, I think this is going to be a very hot topic soon
UAL591 1 year ago
@UAL591
I think the best way for the seniority list.....all employees current and retired to be meshed together....all on the same playing level. Retired employees, management,pilots,ground,f/a and any other group. Seniority period. Looking forward to meeting all my new co workers.

as a flight attendant for united for many years, this brought me to tears. it wasn't tto long ago that i wasn't sure if there would be a united airlines. i to wish we kept the blue, but better than that, we have the name, we can always change the livery. thank you to all who beleived in us, and kept flying us. maybe one day, i can thank you personally in the friendly skies.
justjack78 1 year ago
I am very much going to miss the United blue livery. Forgive me for being negative, but the one that is coming about from this merger looks terrible. They should have kept the blue even at the expense of United's name in my opinion.
