More than 60 years? If the Chinese people are unable to remove a tyrannical government in more than 60 years, it leads me to believe that perhaps they don't want to, that they like it that way. @hetzerluo I think China is run pretty much like how a corporation is run in the US. At every level of the government, the head is very powerful. But he also has big responsibility. How a head is selected is not by popular election. It goes through various types of peer reviews and boss's reviews. The process is not very open. As a result, they are open to corruptions and behind -the-door horse tradings. Sometimes it works well and sometimes not so well. Nothing is perfect.

It's posted on youtube both from the movie and from the state dinner, the name of the song is My Motherland and it also has a wiki page that talks about it and has the lyrics. The song itself is not offensive but it being associated with this movie and it being very well known in China makes it offensive to Americans (now that the story broke).

U.S troop used human wave tactic in this battle because air and artillary attack did not work. U.S troop even sent MP to the battlefiled. Any U.S soldier who refused to charge would be shot by their own soldier.

The Chinese command commented on this movie many years later: The movie was not even 1% as cruel as the real battle.

朝鲜战争志愿军牺牲13万,其中还有2万多是被冻死的,而美军5­.8万,,失踪3万多,其实60年了这失踪的3万多其实就是死了­,双方战斗死亡其实几乎是1比1,再加上其他17国死的几十万,­韩国军队死的210万.

解放军战死1人，要杀死12个敌军.

这就是战斗力!

(2) During this Triangle hill /ShangGanLing battle, USA army also suffered serious casualties. As Chinese claimed, the casualty ratio is 1:1. They considered that the serious casulty during this battle was the final step tp push USA to sign the cease fire agreement. Although the casualty data are not checkable, it is true that no large-scale battle occcured since this battle.

In the old times, the western armies formed perfect squares marching like the Roman legions, one blind shot could kill a bunch

Everyone used mass infantry charges. The difference is US had airstrikes before they charge while the Chinese are stuck with only using artillery fire. Sadly, the stereotype of mass infantry as blindly charging until the enemy runs out of bullets is well documented in Hollywood(or the Chinese version of hollywood, in this case), when in actual history there's a lot more tactics to it.

My Dad was on Triangle Hill on 14-16 October 1952. He was a 2nd Lt. during this battle. His Co. commander was killed and he outflanked the chinese soldier in the trenchline who had killed his Co. commander and killed him with his M2 carbine. There was not mass human waves of American infantry coming up the hill...it was too steep. With the aid of perhaps a dozen rifleman, they dropped hand grenades in to several bunkers, knocking out several machine gun nests
