This song is a fucking lyrical masterpiece.. I can't listen to this song without thinking of being best friends with people I never see, playing tag in abandoned buildings, running from the cops for breaking into swimming pools, my hometown's ice cream parlor.. So fucking much. The message is beautiful, but sad.
Every time I hear this song, it carries more and more meaning. As an over-stressed senior in high school, this song reminds me that, even when the workload makes me feel hopeless, "The only thing that matters is just following your heart, and eventually you'll finally get it right." This song inspires me to keep chasing my dreams, even when the road to reach them is a rough one.
My teenage years were all about the Ataris... can't believe this album is almost 10 years old... Brings me back to when I was 17 years old, used my dirty old high top Chucks and had so much fun. Good times !!!
This song makes me depressed as fucking hell. I love it.
I miss the good old days when I was in fourth grade. The summers I used to have when I was a kid were a blast. Kids outside all the time, going camping, staying out late at night with friends, going to birthday parties...I could go on. My teenage years have been nothing but fucking hell. Sucks to be turning 16 knowing that your best days are already behind you... T_T
Wow! Man, I love The Ataris. xD I loved them throughout my high school years...and oh, the summers back in those days. They were so damn fun and being young and so free... They're memories I'll never forget. ^_^
Like practically every other comment here, I have to admit that this song conjures up about a thousand memories of goofing off and tearing around as a young teenager. Lock-ins and moshpits, that's what it's about
This reminds me of 3rd grade camp and how they used this song for the video to remind us of the trip! I'm in 8th grade now and I went all this time not knowing this songs name or who it was by!!! But every so often it would pop up in my head but the only words I knew "these are the best days of our lives". So glad I've found it!!!
@dawndawn992 Man you're lucky.... I discovered the Ataris in eights grade and I'm almost a junior now. You have so many good days ahead of you. Enjoy them and don't try to grow up too fast. It really is true "being grown up is only half as fun as growing up."
@caramip Yeah I've been wasting most of my time trying to shape out to what others want me to be and always think about the feature instead of what's happening in the present. I've been listening to songs like this that kept me going when I was little and I'm realizing I should just have fun and enjoy myself. I wish more music these days were like this with an actual good meaning.. Thanks too! You can still goof off and enjoy yourself too!:)
I'm super excited that I found this. I remember listening to it when I was a little kid. :'] I loved it then too. It has got to be one of the best songs out there.
i just moved to north carolina from new york and i guess i didnt make a good impression cause my brother moved with me and he has tons of friends already, and i dont have any. but back in new york, this was exactly me. i had the coolest fucking friends. love the ataris
i heard this song in the summer of like 05 and have been looking for it since and now i found it accidentally. it was on the radio and full of static so i couldnt really make it out, but i could tell that i liked it. i remember where i was and what i was doing, i was driving home one night with the windows down and it was a hot nc night. ohh the memories,, glad i found this
@shinygurl76 Its true..some songs you listen to and read along with the lyrics, the booklet is wrong. Avenged Sevenfold- Nightmare booklet is off on a few songs

I told my friend how I couldn't wait to be 18 and he said "Don't. Cherish your youth."
Right after that we listened to this song. He's right, being grown up isn't half as fun as growing up =)

Most the memories I have associated with this song are from the summer of 2004, when I was going into my junior year.

you got the lyrics wrong at the beginning.
"and that unspoken feeling of knowing that right now is all that matters."

I'm sorry but your mistaken, these are the lyrics from the album booklet. Those are some pretty cool lyrics though
