I'm not even in D.C. anymore, but has anyone recommended Greater Mt. Calvery on Rhode Island Ave.? I have my issues with that church, but one thing I can say is that pastor's wife Susie can really invoke the spirit when she prays. I did a lot of chuch hopping when I lived there (New Bethel up on Georgia Ave was another favorite)

i love this praise the Lord, i remember wen everyone would dance and spin i would ask God why dont i do that or feel rwhat they feel, and the day of my baptism i danced and spun in cirlcles it was amazing!!!!!!! i felt such a Joy and peace, it was incredivble

After looking for work for nearly 2 years, I recently found another full-time position with awesome full-time pay and full-time benefits (it requires a lot of traveling, but it's good that I'm reimbursed for my traveling expenses), and I was praising God at my church so hard, I accidentally hit my dad, who was sitting on my left, and almost knocked him over to back of the other row lol. He said, "Remind me to say 'Hit the deck' next time" lol.

In other words what many call shouting is the combination of one speaking in tongues or praising outwardly (shouting His name or exaltation ) and dancing.
Yes , there are some who move at the first strike of a note but for the true worshiper you really don't know how the spirit may move. Some sit still, cry, sway, tap a foot, there is no one way to praise God for many things He does for us.

@ robbi241, shouting is not a move of the spirit. Shouting is a learned behavior. No where in scripture can you find the Holy Ghost causing a person to shout as we do today, if so please share the scripture an I will definately change my view. Again, nothing against shouting, but it is what it is, a learned behavior. It is your emotional response to whats going on in the atmosphere. You may respond to the spirit moving by dance, or lifting your hands, but shouting is not caused by the spirit.

Now you mentioned David danced,...yes he did, but his dancing was not a result of being moved by the spirit of God. He was happy because of the ark of the covenant was back. Now on the day of pentecost, the people did think they were drunk, but it was not because they were shouting, being drunk in the spirit as you stated, but it was because all of them were speaking in an unlearned tongue.

FYI, actually the spirit of God is NOT what makes you shout. Shouting is actually a learned behavior. Scripture shows us that there is a posture for praise. That posture is the lifting up of my hands and voice. Out from my voice are praises, reverence, and acclaim to God. How many services can you recall, where praise went forth without the element of music.

It's amazing how so many of us know how to shout, but can't explain or understand how to use faith. Faith is what gets me to the level pass struggle. So many people go to church, shout and dance, but have no real word that will help them overcome their issues. A lot of us think that if we didn't shout, run and jump the pews, we didn't have church. We need to renew our minds.... Nothing against "shouting" though.

Satan hates it when people praise God...mmmm why? Because the scripture says that God inhabits the praises of his people. When you praise God it ushers in his presence and breaks the power of the enemy. It is expected that some hate to see people praise God, because in some form or other they are still under the control of Satan and have not been truly born again. If you truly love God and have a real relationship with him (not religion); it would not bother you so much.
If you look at Isaiah 1:13-15, it talks about how offerings, praise, and worship are vain when Israel was in an unrepentant condition. When David danced, David was repentant man. He was not perfect, but repentant. That is why David's dance was acceptable. Praise, worship, offerings, etc. all must be done with a repentant heart in accordance with faith and obedience. It is not the worship, praise, and dance itself but whats your heart condition

The Holy Spirit is real and it not only falls on you while in church but while you're at home. Me and a friend were praying at her house and the Holy Spirit fell and the next thing I know I was shouting,running, dancing and praising God. In other words what many call shouting is the combination of one speaking in tongues or praising outwardly (shouting His name or exaltation ) and dancing.
Yes , there are some who move at the first strike of a note but for the true worshiper you really don't know how the spirit may move. Some sit still, cry, sway, tap a foot, there is no one way to praise God for many things He does for us.

@ robbi241, shouting is not a move of the spirit. Shouting is a learned behavior. No where in scripture can you find the Holy Ghost causing a person to shout as we do today, if so please share the scripture an I will definately change my view. Again, nothing against shouting, but it is what it is, a learned behavior. It is your emotional response to whats going on in the atmosphere. You may respond to the spirit moving by dance, or lifting your hands, but shouting is not caused by the spirit.

Now you mentioned David danced,...yes he did, but his dancing was not a result of being moved by the spirit of God. He was happy because of the ark of the covenant was back. Now on the day of pentecost, the people did think they were drunk, but it was not because they were shouting, being drunk in the spirit as you stated, but it was because all of them were speaking in an unlearned tongue.

FYI, actually the spirit of God is NOT what makes you shout. Shouting is actually a learned behavior. Scripture shows us that there is a posture for praise. That posture is the lifting up of my hands and voice. Out from my voice are praises, reverence, and acclaim to God. How many services can you recall, where praise went forth without the element of music.

@Chopaccara I agree with you wholeheartedly. And like you, I have nothing against shouting. Dancing before the Lord is a beautiful thing, when it's pure. But as you said, shouting is mostly a learned behavior. Hence, many, many videos and its comments on youtube.

@Chopaccara i dont know about your churches but we've had numerous "shouting" services where no one ever touched an instrument........ i recently went to a service that ended in a 4 hour shout and it all began without music.... the bible says david DANCED before the Lord..... he is the one who has most taught us about praising God.... on the day of pentecost the disciples were assumed to be drunk... i would assume they were shouting and drunk in the spirit

It's amazing how so many of us know how to shout, but can't explain or understand how to use faith. Faith is what gets me to the level pass struggle. So many people go to church, shout and dance, but have no real word that will help them overcome their issues. A lot of us think that if we didn't shout, run and jump the pews, we didn't have church. We need to renew our minds.... Nothing against "shouting" though.

I remember the first time I saw someone dance in the Lord's spirit. When the lady finally sat down she looked so happy like she saw the Lord and He blessed her. I dont know what anyone else feels when they are filled with the Holy Ghost but as for ME and MY House we will always serve the Lord. His wonders never cease and He renews us everyday. Let the nay sayers say Amen for it is well and it is so!

Satan hates it when people praise God...mmmm why? Because the scripture says that God inhabits the praises of his people. When you praise God it ushers in his presence and breaks the power of the enemy. It is expected that some hate to see people praise God, because in some form or other they are still under the control of Satan and have not been truly born again. If you truly love God and have a real relationship with him (not religion); it would not bother you so much.

If you look at Isaiah 1:13-15, it talks about how offerings, praise, and worship are vain when Israel was in an unrepentant condition. When David danced, David was repentant man. He was not perfect, but repentant. That is why David's dance was acceptable. Praise, worship, offerings, etc. all must be done with a repentant heart in accordance with faith and obedience. It is not the worship, praise, and dance itself but whats your heart condition

You ignored the confession in rev 22:16,,, he is of David a created king, he did not say he was of his father in heaven in that confession.

@ISamuelII We do it every time we praise the soldier that dies for his country, a selfess act of bravery and a parent who dies trying to save his child. So, I think people, Christian or not, can understand what it takes for a person to give of himself for the sake of others. And I applaud that.

The Holy Spirit is real and it not only falls on you while in church but while you're at home. Me and a friend were praying at her house and the Holy Spirit fell and the next thing I know I was shouting,running, dancing and praising God. As Jesus says in Matthew 18:20, "If 2 or 3 are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them."

Typically those who believe in the receiving of the Holy Ghost evidenced by speaking in tongues as they did on the day of Pentecost in the book of Acts(We don't sit down on our blessings b/c we know God has been good, and he deserves our praise)Even w/o scripture telling us that we should praise him, why would be not? We have the activity of our limbs and we use them for everything else, & 2 many ppl sit down on God when they're @ church. think about it:)

@omacron I understand where u are coming from and from what i can tell u also know that God is LOVE and when u are serving Him and u feel like u have to tell His people things, u come to them in the spirit of love and meekness. U seem very wise and the things u say no doubt are true, but instead of attacking God's people with condemnation, u could easily say what u know u needed to say in the spirit of love. :) There is no condemnation in Christ Jesus, keep doing what u are doing-do it in love.
