To me, a non-native speaker of English, Harpo is definitely the best teacher of the language in many ways; not only the homonyms of all these idioms but also his humorous, eccentric and yet eye-opening points of view pantomimed by the master himself! He is also another timeless comedy icon who has never ceased to amuse and amaze me.
This is a priceless classic. Thanks for posting. Harpo Speaks has always been my favorite book. I have a 1st ed. in mint & paperbacks. Sadly, Harpo would be dead in 2 years. He lived a good life & was probably the happiest man who ever lived. His lived a fascinating life & was a most welcomed guest of the rich & famous; e.g., Bernard Shaw, Pres. Truman, Oscar Levant, Alexander Woollcott. He also smuggled secret papers out of the USSR & knew gangsters of the 1930s. A wonderful life!
I would LOVE to see the ep where Chico dresses as Harpo. Hope someon e puts it up on here someday. really love this clip, thanks heaps for uploading it :)
@Procrastimaster Found a small snippet of the 'I've got a Secret' with Chico dressed as Harpo. Search 'The Marx Brothers in a nutchell (3) and it's at:14:44 (you can really tell it's Chico..it looks like a scary Harpo)
I'd hate to have to play against him in charades.
