  • @takumidrifterfm3 Yea I can't really tell but having an inter cooler doesn't necessarily make it faster and what not have you. Just gives usually around 25 extra horses for cooler air but you already knew that.

  • Pft, dude no you would not. Most turbos are oil cooled. If you blow something it's not because you don't have an intercooler, it's because your setup is not properly constructed. Intercoolers are neither necessities nor are they absolute speed boosters. I suggest you get to know what goes on under the hood first man.

  • in a rwd car, you make dyno pulls in 4th gear, because it will be a 1:1 ratio ( direct drive ) and give you the most accurate results.

    basically start in 3rd gear and pedal it to the redline so you can calculate the power of the car through it's rpm band when it's at wide-open throttle

  • I'm not sure, but I thought that they measure in final gear. This also shows the top speed. But mainly I remember this from hundreds of dyno videos, they gear up to 5-6th, and then get loose. If you know more about it, initiate me too :)

  • Yes but there should be a custom fab shield to protect the rest of the engine from the insane heat. The engine is not a formula 1 car and is not built to withstand formula 1 heat...dumbass.

    And yeah subaru4life2005 the tune must be really bad with no other mods because the HP figures aren't impressive at all. There are 7's that get that on 15-20 psi.

  • The red manifold isn't ideal for a daily driven car. The red manifold is cause by High rpm and high boost. 38psi is a lot of boost for your set up and the power the Fd made isn't to impressive for that boost level. I think the tunes not that great.

  • What´s all this stupid talk about RED manifolds?? There´s nothing dangerous about it, it´s normal in highpowered cars. Formula 1 cars´s manifolds are allways red when they race. All you need to care about is that it´s made out of good quality alloy so it does not crack. Are you guys gonna start whining about RED disc brakes too??

  • Oh, and the red glow is the manifold heating red hot. That's what happens when you spool a turbo that high for that long. (They are chromed tube manifolds.)

  • First, Manifold IS coverred. The sound is the engine revving and the turbo spooling.

    Second, that is a TIGHT car.

  • I would definitely invest in some thermal wrap and wrap that manifold up! Thats a pretty significant hazard, if excess oil, fuel, or any other remotely flamable substance gets near that youre gonna be having a bad day. That part of the engine would not see 200 mph wind...and who the hell goes 200 mph anyway...and if they did it would only be for a matter of seconds. Definitely try to get rid of some of that heat.

  • isthissnfree - you clearly know nothing about tt's...the single turbo is an upgrade from the stock tt setup. the tt works better up to about 4000 rpm due to the small turbo, however after 4000 rpm a larger single turbo upgrade blows the tt away.

  • Well because it was a dyno pull he started from a higher gear, so the engine accelerated slowly, I don't think that it would typically take that long to spool.

  • Yeah, a couple boosts on my RX7, and the header and turbine glow like that. Even the smallest oil leak near the turbine will result in an instant fire... Rotaries rock, but parts are getting scarce..
