@Muzunguful Have you heard Sinead Lohan's version? Amazing. She actually managed to vocally simplify his melody and make the song sound infinitely better. I don't mean to be rude, but a lot of the truly genius stuff that Bob Dylan wrote is best interpreted and sung by other talent. He has a distinctive style that suits a lot of his music, but, much of the time, when someone else does one of his songs it sounds better than his version. He's still the best song writer of the 20th century tho... :)

@ShaneMcD77 I still prefer David Gray's cover. But I agree with you that Bob Dylan is one of the best songwriters ever and a lot of his songs are made famous by others like Jimi Hendrix , The Byrds and many others.

@Muzunguful With that, do you reckon there are a lot of AMAZING songwriters out there who write for other people but don't perform? Are there loads of Bob Dylans who have deliberately kept quiet and let others do the singin and shoutin for them? Sometimes I'd hear that a really good song was written by 'Such-and-Such McGee', and I'd think, "Who? Why didn't THEY sing it!"

It'd be pretty annoyin if you wrote a gem and someone else got Godlike praise for it. Sorry, just thinkin out loud here... :)

@danielc121162 He has agreed on such matters in the past - 'All Along The Watchtower' I think it was. :) It goes to show that there must be a huge number of songwriters out there who write for singers but are never heard themselves - and there is a reason: Bob Dylan has a very distinctive style, but a lot of other performers have interpreted his material better, and, his genius songwriting aside, many others are more vocally and technically talented than him - and he'd be the first to admit it!
