My very first show was on Bruce's 26th Birthday in Ann Arbor, MI. After the show, when at least 3500 people had left the building, the band came back on stage and did the first-ever DETROIT MEDLEY, reportedly per Max's request. It included Quarter to 3. It was awesome.
That is magnificent how Bruce and Steve duet at 9:20-9:50; how they build to a crescendo like that. For that matter, the last 2 minutes (except for that dopey overwrought woman) are so powerful--this extended version is so much better than the "No Nukes" version (which is not a knock against that one--I had never realized how awesomely he had fleshed out this song.)
Maybe the best clip on all of Youtube-thanks for postin this. And those tickets were only $12.50 a pop in 1980. Amazing that this was the last song of that almost 4 hour show in DC...
I did get to see the River live at MSG last Nov. 8, so that was a nice consolation prize to missing the original tour. Very surreal (and amazing) seeing much less-known masterpieces like Ramrod, Price You Pay, and Stolen Car done live..
Fantastic! Before super stardom, before Born in the USA, before he fancied himself a modern day Woody Guthrie... Just pure 100% unadulterated good time rock 'n roll.
How can this have less than a 5-star ave rating? But then how can there be over 30,000 views and only 100 ratings? This is one of the best videos of music ever. You Can Trust Your Eyes, Ears, Feet & Heart To The Man Who Wears All The Stars.
N one can compare to this man, he is the god of rock, if Bruce just wants to he can surpass everyone and everything, god i'am looking forward to this summer when he comes to play. Rock on my man!
You, sir, are a joke. You couldn't tell good music from a man farting into a tuba. So, therefore, we cannot take your profanity-laced opinion seriously.
I'm not sure you should insult Sprinsteen by saying he sucks. He actually doesn't :-). The audio on this one is perhaps not the best there is but I can assure you Bruce is the Boss. if you are a fan of classical music I wouldn't post these negative comments on a rockmonument and legend. you shoud stick with your music. I don't go to dance tracs on youtube to say they suck. Its just not my kind of music.
actually i'm not that ignorant. I love classical music. It is the ultimate form of music, but it doesnt mean i like it the most. I think you are a bit ignorant. Everybody has his own defenition of great music. If rock isn't your thing, then you should not say he sucks. In rock and roll he is one of the best and currently the best in my eyes. By saying he sucks just proves your ignorance. (sorry for the mistakes in my english)
i suggest you look up "Springsteen - R&R medley" . It's the same music as this music but with better audio. Perhaps that will change your opinion? You should also remember he is performing in front of a couple of thousand people. If it sounds like noise... its probably the crowd cheering for more.
I'm not shure why you answer me like that. I think I was replying quite friendly... Why are you calling me an asshole? And I don't want to win anything. I'm just saying he is great. And he is... You should just read some of his lyrics. Try thunder road. One of my favorites. great song and music.
will you shut up?!?! bruce is good and if you dont like him thats alright! just please don't make us have to read your negative comments about him when we're trying to enjoy him. alright?
I challenge anyone to show me a better rock show than what The Boss and Company provided through the late 70's and 80's. Four hours of this energy was the best you'll ever see!
This video plays real good on TV, I have had the good fortune of seeing this in 1991. This video introduced me to Pre Born in the U.S.A Bruce, who back in 1991 had been broken up with the E street band for almost 3 years. I would go see him my first 3 times in 1992 but no e street till 99. Then my Bruce collection was Born in the USA and the Live 75-85 album. I went out later that night and bought the rest of the albums and have not stopped listening to them since. Thanks for posting it.
the best performer ever! no one does it like the boss! no one! a classic bootleg vid that does the man and the band justice and there's only 5 comments so far including mine. I guess it has to do with poor sound quality but what can you expect when there was only 1 silly little microphone capturing the whole event.
"...Jenny Jenny! WOO! Jenny Jenny!" [Can your papa call?] "...No sense in livin/ no sense in dyin/ I'm a lonseome train/ on a lonesome track... WOO WOO! ALL ABOARD! WOO WOO!..." - Get your blue dress on you red devils and you'll be spinnin like a spinnin top to this monster track.
