  • sweeeeet ;] I have some band performances this would work great on..

  • nice video, but when I apply the smoothcam filter, it makes it zoom in more to make it stable and a little blurry, do you know what i am talking about?

  • Is this filter on 5.0? If not, how is there a way I can download it or another filter that will steady out shots?

    Thanks

  • This filter is on 6.0, and I am not sure about 5.0. I have not used a version earlier than 6.0, so I don't know what filters are out there for it.

  • wow.... that is amazing

real quick did u shoot in 3:4 and then crop because otherwise you would get the moving black bar right?

  • the problem is with the quality of the video after the smoothcam filter.

  • Are you saying the filter made the quality poorer?

  • It actually does especially if your not shooting HD.

Because the smooth cam zooms into the video and removes the shaking through the process.

So the filter would be better if you use HD because the resolution of the video is already high, even if the filter does zoom into the video it does not make that much difference :)

  • I made this video before I purchased my HD camera. I have not tried this filter with any HD footage yet. I no longer post videos on here anyway. Vimeo does much better with HD video, so my stuff goes up there now.

  • hey man i have a question.. does it take long to apply the filter? i put the filter over a 5 sec clip.. it says 6 hours remaining. PM me back or reply to this when you can.. thank you.

  • Yes it does take a long time to render this filter.

  • another question.. what kind of camera do you have. i figured out the slow analyzing problem. i have to export as QT file and then import it back. the problem is that the quality isnt the same as the rest of the video (i did a portion of the video.) i have a canon xl2 and i shot in 16:9 30p. I also get an annoying black moving border lol.

  • That was shot with an old Sony hi8mm. I now use the Canon HV20 High Def.

  • So if you use a pro cam such as in a sony vx series you would probably get much better results.

  • yea this is suck a better demonstration than everyone elses.....AWESOME!!!

  • thanks pianomankw

  • such* lol

  • hey where do you live? I'm from Jersey Shore and candy cane lane is about 20 minutes away, maybe less

  • Great info and good example, thanks Dana!!! Keep it up man.

  • Dana,

I can't believe how good you are getting at FCP. Seriously. Let alone the showcasing the filter feature. You did a great job in demonstrating the power of this FCP feature, very good I think you may have found your new gig.
