i have 507 cycles on my late 08' macbook pro (non-unibody) and i downloaded coconut battery and these were the results... Current charge: -1 mAh Maximum charge: -1 mAh Battery capacity: -1 mAh Design capacity: 5600 mAh Details: Mac model: MacBookPro4,1 Age of your mac: 42 months Battery load cycles: 507 Battery temperature: 30.0 degrees C Battery power usage: 0.0 Watt I'm desperate, i don't want to buy a new battery, what do you advise. PLEASE HELP ME!!!
I just bought a new macbook. So my question is do I do this process once a month? Also how many times in a day to you charge your computer back up? Is it good to keep your macbook on all day, or should I turn it off when I am not using it?
this is a LIE I tried doing this after owning my MacBook after four months ,now it wont even reach 100% it stays at only 99%....DON'T TRY THIS if you not sure
I got 32...is that good? Cause Im getting so pissed cause I had 66% battery life and 2 hours remaining a couple of minutes ago...while ONLY running Safari. But I managed to fix it: If you have a problem like this just go buy an app called "Disk Diet" and install. It should clear about 20 mb or more...If the problem still exists..try emptying you're trash. I had over 2gb in their when I had two hours left, but after emptying those gbs, it boosted up to 5 hours !!!
After the battery drains and I wait 5 hours, I have to fully recharged but can I use it while it charges or I just leave there connected until fully charged?
Great video, thank you for posting this - an automatic favorite. This will definitely come in handy when I get my MacBook Pro. Right now, I have a Dell 1545 that crashes at least once a month. Apparently, the world knows I want that mac so bad and is obviously trying to help me achieve it.
Again, thank you for posting this. I really appreciate it :)
how will i know if my macbook is succesfully calibrated i went to my battery imformation and check the cyclecount..cyclecount is 3 is that good or bad?
Thans, great video. One question though. The instructions that came with my battery stated that I was to drain the battery first (it came charged to 82%) before charging it to full capacity and repeating the steps you've stated. I followed those instructions. Does this make a difference that I drained it first? Thanks.
My mac doesn't go to sleep mode when battery is empty. It just dies and has to be restarted. Do I have a problem? Or is this normal. I have the original white macbook 2009 version if that helps.
@themacexpert Well either you follow Apple's instructions or you don't. They clearly state you have to wait at least 5 hours after the computer has shut itself down. That's to make sure you fully drain the battery... Why bother following the first steps if you're not going to pull it through?
@themacexpert Apple's Website clearly states you have to let it run on sleep 5 hours after it has shut itself down. There is a reason for that, it's to fully drain the battery. Why bother doing this at all if you're only going to follow half the instructions?
@themacexpert oh really ? calibrate after getting macbook pro ? oh no , i didnt know that before , just now . what should i do ? would that make my macBP battery bad ?
@themacexpert im on 312 cycles, starting to lose some power now. im gonna get a new 1, but i wanted to know....is there a better 'unofficial' battery, that has more power/life??
help me please i've already used my macbook n it says that it can last up to 7 hours but everytym i use it it only use like 3 hours or so help please!
@kathen111 Also make sure you're not running your display on maximum brightness. 7 hours is an estimate. Heavy work load will lower your battery as well.
o ok the macbook pro is the new one. Apple says that it could give me 7 hours at least but the most that i gotten is 5 30 hours. Is there something wrong?
Nothings wrong. & hours is the maximum you could get with most setting turned off and display brightness down. Also, not watching many videos. 7 hours is only possible if your doing more of less nothing.
you should keep the magsafe in at all time (when you can) because of the new "intergraded" battery that has 1000 recharges only, so if you have it plugged inn at all time, you will have it last longer before you will have to go to the apple store and replace it :P
Hi, How are you supposed to use the battery normally?..Do you have to charge it full and disconnect the adapter and use it till a sign appear that the charge is low and connecting the adapter again? or Do you have to use the adapter connected most of the time, in that case do you have to remove the battery?..
I've tried calibrating mine. I have questions. Am I allowed to let it sit for 2 hours unplugged after its done charging fully? and I let my macbook battery die and let it sleep for 5-6 hours or more and the battery checker on the side shows one green circle blinking. Is that an OK sign to now plug in the charger?

No, Calibrating on Macs all the way from the late 08' MacBooks and MacBook Pros are not necessary. Battery technology is becoming more and more advanced, and because of this Calibrating is no longer a necessary step to a healthy portable.
How can you check the number of cycles and what do they mean?

@politicszbitch
Go to the apple icon on the top left, click "About This Mac", click on "More Info" and the number of cycles show on "Hardware" > "Power"
