  • Just subscribed and I can't thank you enough for these incredible videos. There's something about watching an experienced, patient mechanic carefully tackle such a complex engine. Gives me a glimmer of hope that I might be able to work on my 6.4 once I'm out of warranty. Best wishes in 2012 srmastertech.

  • @rcdixon76

Thanks for the great complement! Once you peal some of the layers off, you will see it is not all that difficult! Thanks again and welcome!

  • srmastertech, that would be GREAT, thank you!

  • Have you done a video on how to replace the serpentine belt without removing the radiator?

  • @k80parcours

I do have footage I shoot for this. It just didn't record too well because there isn't much room and it is dark in there. I will try to get something up for you!

  • Just wanted to thank you for a excellent video it allowed me to install my new up dated radiator in my own garage. I would not have tackled it myself without seeing your video...Thanks Again

  • @peewee20126

Great to hear my video has helped! Your very welcome!

  • EGR on Diesels= The failure of reliability.

  • @SparkZ1420

    All thanks to the environmentalism!

  • @srmastertech Thanks EPA.... I still prefer my LB7 Duramax or a 7.3 Powerstroke, the pre-EGR diesels lol

  • Good work Rusty, as usual!

  • Thanks for all your great videos. I am a mechanic and enjoy your tech videos immensely. You can never know too much. Your soothing voice reminds me of the movie Alone in the wilderness. Great show.

  • @666smokeskull

Thanks for the great comment! Soothing voice huh, ok!

  • If you make a follow-up on this video to reinstall the radiator can you also include replacing the t-stats/hoses?

Thanks and please please keep going with the 6.4 vids!

  • @mtd1982

The video you request is in the editing process now! Part II will show thermostat R&R, the horizontal EGR cooler removal. My video for the thermostats is kinda poor in quality, but it works. I will also show what a hyper-extended thermostat looks like. After the poor quality of during the thermostats, I picked up a GoPro!

  • @srmastertech

Have the radiator/tstat/hoses ready, just waiting on the vid!

  • @mtd1982

    it is uploading now!

  • 6.4 videos are the Best! Keep'em coming

  • thanks rusty

  • Oops sorry forgot to add a huge Thank you for doing all of this for your viewers Rusty!!

  • @rdp2370

    Your very welcome!

  • We got to have more "How it's done" 6.4 videos. I love my 6.4 but had excellent luck out of it hope that continues!

  • @rdp2370

I hope your 6.4lit keep running strong and reliable! Just keep a close eye on the fluids levels. You will notice any problems before they become serious!

  • I just had this job performed on my 08 with 27,000 miles on it. Extended warranty only covered the radiator itself, powertrain covered the thermostats, I voluntarily paid for updated hoses, degass bottle and coolant flush. Including my $100 deduct, my cost was $800. Ford knows they had design problems with many, many trucks going through radiators, yet I have to pay 800 for warranty work? Thank you Rusty, for showing me what the technician had to go through to fix my truck. Thermostats !

  • @Mr42960

They way I do my warranty work, I'm not sure how they do things there, but if you came in my shop with an extended warranty, I would have had everything covered by the warranty, including the flush! If the TSB was followed, it would all have been covered the radiator, both hoses. I would cover the flush as related damage.

  • great vid

  • how much for a job like this ?

  • Cant wait to see part 2 great vid!

  • @svt89 Labor will be around $300, the radiator is the expensive part!

  • this is a 2010 model??!?!?! I cant believe there has been that much failure in 2 years and 80k miles. I hope Ford got it right with the Scorpion. The 6 liter and 6.4 seem like real money pits. Through all the trial and tribulation with the $6.0, and the $6.4.....they should have devised a recall that is a one shot deal that fixes ALL the problems at once and fixed them for good, a one shot deal. Everyone is losing so much money with these trucks. When the tires dont roll, the owner makes 0 money

  • @fatmikey00032000

I do agree with you. I wish Ford had the fix the first time. At least they did get it right with the 6.7 lit. I have not had any concerns with any of my customers.
