Uh... A preacher doesn't save his soul by preaching. The only way is to trust in the Lord.
Matthew 21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’
@dinoditching Ephesians 2:8-9, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: NOT OF WORKS, lest any man should boast.”
Faith without works is dead, but we are not the one doing the works, God is doing them in us if we have faith.
Philippians 1:6 "being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus" What are works to God? Isaiah 64:6 "all our righteous acts are like filthy rags"
@sweezdachamp Ephesians 2:8-9 simply means, doing good works and obeying the ten commandments apart from Christ (meaning reajecting Christ like the pharisees did)cannot save you. but once you are in Christ, you are expected to do good works. Let me simplify it to you. that verse simply means, no amount of good works can save you if you reject Christ as your Lord and saviour. but once you enter into a relationship with Christ, you have to do good works.
@sweezdachamp yes, salvation is a gift and is a free gift from God. no one can merit the grace of justification coz it's a free gift. no amount of good works can earn the grace of justification, it was earned by Christ on the Cross for us.but once you recieve that free gift of justification, it doesnt end there, you have to work out your salvation with fear and trembling. you have to fight the good fight till the end , with Christ who is in you. "remain in me and i will remain in you".
@dinoditching I agree, if there are no good works in you then you are not truly saved. But you should not do good works to get on God's good side. like you said, abide in him (follow his commandments and keep a good relationship with him including him in all you do) and he will abide in you (meaning he will do the good works in you if you accept him)

As a Catholic, it's obvious Fr. Corapi was a diocesan priest and not a religious order priest. The diocesan priests are third-rate priests who really don't give up anything to serve their lives to God. Priests who belong to a religious order take a vow of poverty and they sacrifice much more than the diocesan priests who eat at fine restaurants and drive fancy cars. Most, if not all, of the child molestation incidents were committed by diocesan priests and not religious order priests.
One does not need a public announcement of a formal excommunication from the Catholic Church., Excommunication is occult occurs when the offence entailing it is known to no one or almost no one. It is incurred as soon as the offence is committed and by reason of the offence itself .Remember, no sin, except refusing to believe in God up until the time of death.that is unforgivable . If someone has been excommunicated they need to go to confession. If they are truly repentant..
