I marched this horn for two years! CRAP!!!! The bell would fall off daily, who makes a detachable bell!!! Mine weighed 34 pounds! That is just dumb, the resonance was terrible. All of the bracing on it is plastic and it does nothing protect the tuba. This tuba gave me scoliosis! Luckily I'm in a corp with Yamaha's now.
just wanted to say that i idont think theres anything in the market called a CONTRA TUBA for bands. xD i think youd need 2 people for a contra tuba! and an air pump
i love playing contra, i play a yamaha and its well balanced and smooth and getting used to the weight happens simply through practice

I'm a sousa player and gotta admit, contras are lighter for sure

is that a real contra or a marching tuba?
euphoniumification 2 years ago
@euphoniumification
It's a contrabass bugle, the drum corps equivalent of a tuba. Some marching bands use contras, but most use sousaphones
ElPolloLoco4330 1 year ago
@ElPolloLoco4330 Actually its a marching tuba. Contrabass bugles were in G. But we still call em contras cause they;re just as bad ass.
saxmasta 1 year ago
@saxmasta o-o its still a contrabass bugle... but in Bflat
