As far as the mythology goes it's pretty amazing. Orpheus is the representation of the fool who escapes from death only to find that his escape is meaningless. Thanatos (besides being death incarnate) is also representative of the human drive to destructive behavior (and death). So Orpheus becoming Thanatos makes sense in light of the story. The MC cannot escape death. He can, however, embrace it and still achieve victory.

more like... Since the Death arcana is hiding within MC, and this is the first time MC unleashes his power, he cannot control it and Death makes an appearance (As Thanatos) since Death and MC are one in the same. Orpheus simply over-loaded with power. That's what I understood anyways, ha ha.

@zerojett No I mean there are two gods of death. Thanatos and the other. I'm talking about what atlus wanted this to relate to. The god of brutal death is what did that to orpheus. Thanatos is of peaceful death. I don't think they're gods but I'm sure you know what I mean. Atlus base these persona and demons off of real things. Like Apollo. Also, Venus and the other persona 2 personas. They are gods. But yeah. It's on the shin megami tensei wiki.

There is Thanatos (a persona), and there is Death (Ryoji). They look the same.

Since Ryoji = Pharos... And Pharos is "inside" of MC... MC is a carrier of Death, so to speak.

What emerged from MC is Death (Ryoji/Pharos)

You can create Thanatos from Pharos' max social link, which makes sense now doesn't it? :P

I'm not exactly talking about the game just what the myth is that atlus based the part of the game from.

@flowXehtXebirt Yeah, it's cool how all the Personae are derived from real mythology... but as far as this scene being "symbolic" of real mythology, it isn't. It's just a plot for the game, you know what I mean?

If you go to the compendium and select a persona... you can actually read a small blurb about where each persona comes from in mythology... ranging from Greek, to American Folklore, to Chinese deities. It's really cool! :D

@zerojett It kinda actually is. When Orpheus gets ripped apart when he is first summoned, it sorta has to do with when his head was ripped off and all that in mythology, they say that's also why his body looks like that in the game. But, I dunno.,

The ISO for the psp is around 1 GB and only takes up 60 percent of the ISO, they could have crammed some animations or cutscenes :(

@seedXzero Probably the magician. There was one shadow that Ahikido, Shinji and Mistruru fought before persona 3 and so I would think that would have been the fool. otherwise the SEES group would had to fight themselves since they make up the fool arcana.
