  • This looks like the trip I took to Vermont with my Outback to visit some friends. We had to go thru Killington and the road was washed out I had to go thru some mud at 10 pm at night so the road crew was not working on the road. I remember that at one point we went thru the river and I was lucky I had some momentum cause otherwise I would have been stuck in the river in the middle of nowhere at 10 pm.

  • Супер форик лкассная тачила вобще, через месяц себе такую же если че возьму, по край ней мере очень хотелось бы)

  • Very GOOD..

  • my silverado woulda done that in 2wd so much easier.

  • It will never let you down

...it what makes a subaru, a subaru. ♥

  • subaru FTMFW!

  • idiots will take an all-wheeldrive anywhere for a pic

  • its deep when the tires go away... otherwise its just mud

  • The forester with manual transmission has low gear and high gear. when in low gear the car is much slower. It goes like 15 km/h in 3000 rp/m. That is good if you wanna go slow and still have the power.

  • Nice riding men!!! What tires does your Forester have ?

  • Wow that Subie did excellent in such deep mud.

  • this is why I have 4 subarus in my driveway;)

  • @hackerboy123100 Lucky bastard lol

  • love my forester, i had water 1/3 up the door. did you guys air down the tires? I had my all terrains down to 20psi and traction wasnt an issue.

  • Looks like my driveway.

  • OMG i want one!

  • manual or auto, both can be destroyed by the ''driver'' (if we can call him that) for sure some manufacturers and some models are more capable effective and heavy duty than others.

now i have one question since my experience with a manual forester is very short, can anyone tell me exactly which needs less fuel, the auto or the manual? because some cars are more fuel efficient with automatic gearboxes, especially on highways. so is really a manual forester more economical? thank you all.

  • thanks for your video. i had a subaru 1800GLF 4WD MODEL YEAR 1984,it was 4speed manual and i was going some places with it where some other offroaders couldn't follow me, the only difference is it has less ground clearance than big offroaders, but the traction this subaru had was amazing, but afterall the tires and the driver are basic players in the DRIVING MODE. as for which is best, auto or manual, for sure on ice and snow automatic is better, other than that the driver decides.

  • when you stuck in mud manual is good but for general Off-Road automaitc is good and sparring for clutch issues. On snow automatic is preferable, and for rock climbing. Everything has its plus and minuses.

  • Never stop when you're going through the slop.

  • American forester is shit! japan's - better!

  • @TakitakTakahuly no, America it's the same, cuz America bought it also come from Japan, but America make different Version everythings engines some of parts.

  • @d1gps15 anyway Forester it's a very good car)))

  • @TakitakTakahuly yes, they're.. i'm subie members. Just a fans only. Happy new years 2012!.. :)

  • wow that was impressive. i really thought you were gonna be stuck..

    wow subaru....wow

  • He picked a pretty poor line going in, but it looks like he was trying to steer over to a better line and got hung up. Still, pretty impressive for a little car.

  • @realdevlin you clearly dont know what your talking about manual transmitions are far cheaper to operate and to buy when your getting a new car. automatic trasmitions are ok for trails IF your willing to stop and take breaks every 30 minutes of intense driving

  • no your mom's ford escape cant do this.

    subaru FTW.

  • SUBARU!

  • love the look of this model forester

  • hs i cant believe he got that out of there double woot for fulltime awd

  • amazing

  • A v polshe lesnye dorogi kak i v rossii)))

    Good driver, and good car!

  • polak potrafi ;]

  • 0:02 chick hanging out the sunroof win

  • forester is not off road, it's city car

  • Subaru is number 1!

  • ur forester destroys

  • Well if buy deep you mean not deep than yes it was in deep mud.

  • get a real 4x4 not a car and never send a car in to due a trucks job

  • @chad142 Dude the forester is like a mini 4x4, it's got the best AWD system ever. Nice & compact not big and tipsy.

  • @chad142 sounds like you take offence to this video. you dont like that this forester did what a 4x4 can

  • aaaaA!!! ale maszyna :D . moje marzenie ,terenowy kombiak z duża mocą

  • @warsawdream to nie kombiak. kombiak to outback.

  • anyone can drive around the side of a pit

  • @250beast Haha sure, like to see a FWD/RWD Toyota go through that.

  • I would have had a hard time envisioning any Subaru out in the sticks, dragging bottom through mud until I saw this video. Pretty cool. Thanks for shaing. Looks like you guys have fun with your Subies.

  • for an SUV without low-range gearbox like Forester,

    Auto is the choice

  • just so you know, forester is not designed to do this kind of things.

  • @DisposableWarrior

the forester is designed for light offroading-- this is just little bit more than it was made to do. but, it still did it! the turbo xt was not meant for offroading but it still gets the job done

  • I fully support having a manual box for 4x4ing, if your having clutch issues then install a Heavy Duty One.

  • i have more respect for subaru now

  • Landrover would just plough through this....

  • I've had a Terious AWD along the Gibb River Road during the wet season and trust me, that little puddle would not hurt the Subi. Crossed rivers with water over the bonet and no electrical probs provided you fit a tarp over the front. Iron side Up!

  • 馬鹿な、へたくそ野郎っ!車名の意味を考えて車と自然をもっと大切にしろよ・・・

  • manual-gearbox is best why auto?

  • Because you do not destroy the clutch when need to crawl. Manual is the best for track, not for mud and offroad. See what Islanders use for their snow monsters.

  • that's true.. i was once stuck in snow with my forester.. clutch took a beating..

  • @realdevlin Yeah that might be true. I know that we aren't talking speed here but and automatic gearbox would get a slower topspeed then a manual-gearbox.

  • @realdevlin look i am Icelandic and it is commonly known that a manual, is no better than a automatic, the ones that know their stuff will tell you that a manual is a ''cheaper'' choice because a automatic may overheat when in serious offroad use and it is cheaper to buy a clutch than a new transmission

  • @joijoels That's interesting - I've seen several tv programs about snow and general offroad activities in Iceland, including the ones made by Top Gear and they, Icelanders, have always glorified the automatic transmission for offroad, especially for crawling in the snow. Overheating can be easily fixed by installing additional radiator for the tranny, and overall it's much cheaper operation than installing new clutch. Do you do offroad yourself or is this what you have heard? I'm curious.

  • @realdevlin Yes I do offroad, alot ive never owned anything that didnt have 4wheel drive and bigger than normal tyres, it runs in the family, and honestly the guys in top gear dont know shit. I have never had to change a clutch but I did manage to overheat a auto, and even if I had only ''heard'' about this I would hear it from other off roaders who do think knows more they or the top gear gus who just jumped into the car and drove like idiots on the pole breaking everything in the car.

  • @realdevlin Top Gear know FA about that sort of stuff. Here in Australia most people recommend a automatic for any beach or sand stuff but a manual for sticky mud etc.

  • @realdevlin a manual can be better if you use reduction gears (For when you need to crawl) because if you do put the foot down you wont break traction when it needs to change gears, in saying that an auto also has certain advantages such as both hands on the wheel or one ready to use the handbrake in certain hairy situations...

  • @realdevlin snow, mud and rock is all very different things,to me in mud i rather have a manual as you can "rock" yourself out, just find a way to block the hole were is the clutch with rubber or a metal plate. i dont understand an manual on "crawl mode" is bad on a clutch? obviously you got the stock gears and you got to slip the clutch to make it work.its the owner that didn't built his car right not the fault of the transmission. to me, an automatic is only good for asphalt

  • @realdevlin i have a 2000 subaru forester manual. its currently sitting in my driveway because the clutch died. still runs great though.

  • @realdevlin but it also keeps you in the powerband, depends on how you work the clutch

  • @realdevlin Hej.

  • @realdevlin hey i was just wondering what year this subaru is???

  • @theJremedy Its around a 2000. Give or take...

  • @Znitso 4 racing yes 4this in a Subaru sumthing about how the awd works is different not well suited4slower paced 4x4 if your doin 65 around a snow covered road yea5speed otherwise auto awd sends power more properly 4 this type of awd idk why but i drove both thats how i feel.also srry ass driven too in this vid

  • This looked very bad with suby... but very too easy with a jeep...

  • what gearbox is best for offroad? manual or auto? for the subaru forester

  • auto

  • @realdevlin Depends what offroading. Mud and rock crawling yes an auto. Beach, sand, rallying, racing, gravel. manual. depends on the car and its engine too.

  • @realdevlin depends, some manuals come with low range

  • @realdevlin i dont think so coz for rocking it out of deep mud or snow you need to shoot from reverse to 1st and autos are hopeless doing that while manuals are simple

  • @danibwr

Clutch packs slips when it gets wet.....

  • @danibwr Yea auto gives better torque split & more power to either front or rear instead of max 50:50 split.

  • @danibwr I think I just read somewhere that Subaru manuals come with more transfer case options, including low range. IF that is true, then manual is the only way to go. Hopefully Subaru has a clutch interlock bypass so you can start it in gear, otherwise it would be easy to make one.

Otherwise, it is personal preference mostly, although automatics are much easier to drive, of course.

The only major downside of automatics is they can overheat and they do not like water intrusion.

  • @l337pwnage Yes, the new one with the 2.0 n/a engine sold in europe has a transfer case, the 2.5 n/a in the usa doesn't have this option (both manual). I don't know with the older models.

  • @danibwr I like auto but it's easier to get unstuck if you ever become stuck with a manual in my opinion.

  • @danibwr idk about a Subaru but I have had both and have offroaded with both and the automatic is def superior

  • @danibwr i heard the standard tranny for subaru's are not relieable always go with auto

  • @xBloodfatherx this is incorrect.

  • @twincamcoupe my uncle is a mechanic and he even says that most of the manual subaru's are the most he gets because they arent that relieable. and have you hear of car talk on NPR they say it too.

  • @xBloodfatherx sounds like your uncle doesnt know what hes talking about. ive had 3 subarus all with manuals and have had 0 problems with em. I would never listen to anything anyone on NPR has to say. if you cant drive for crap any manual gear box is gonna have problems and you probably should have an automatic.

  • could have made it through the first time if the driver just gave er

  • was the camera guy drunk?

  • I was in some nasty clay like mud last week in my 98 forester...it was awesome till my clutch broke into pieces!

    ***********************

A tak w ogole - czyj to forek tak ladnie plywa? :)

  • SUBARU = no compromises.

  • The Forester is a complete workhorse of a vehicle, a farmers favourite and rightly so. Well built, no nonsense and extremely capable.

  • Subaruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!!!!

  • lol it's very excited a car like that i'm sure that is for ever

  • thats wicked

  • yeah forester are meant for hiking and shit. thats why its called a forester. goes to the forest. subarus are meant for that cmon now. look at rallying. and jeeps just break down on u sooner or later just like any other american car out there.

  • looks like mine :D

  • get a Jeep.......

  • i have two subaru impreza's one for street and one for offroad/drifting and i'll tell ya what they go through just about any damn thing you put in front of them and the worst thing i have ever broken was a CV shaft

  • Pretty sweet man i bet my baja would do it to im just not willing to beat on it. like that at least lol.

  • i love my subaru forester. subarus are just plain awsome.

  • cant agree more. subaru is best car ever made

  • lol

  • You're lucky you somehow got traction in that mud. Subarus are not meant for that kind of off-road. AWD != offroad. If you want to off-road in such a manner, get a lift kit, softer suspension, high profile off-road tires, etc. Don't be stupid and plow through such mud in a street/hard off-road surface vehicle. Now you have to clean the dirt. There ARE multiple electrical components in the engine bay you know. That, and the timing belt doesn't like dirt and rocks.

    I don't get people sometimes...

  • actually they are meant for that. Sure mods would help make it easier, and it wasn't like it was completely submerged, as far as the electrical is concerned. And the timing belt on the 2.0 or any subaru is completely covered... Own one and see what you think.

  • I don't want to be the bearer of bad news but....

It is their car after all, they can do with it as they please. :)

  • thatsa nice lookin subaru

  • Pretty sweet! What kind of exhaust is on that?

  • u think thats deep???hahaha...........

  • a normal car would not be able to make that... Subarus for ever!!!

  • freakin badass! I <3 Subies

  • this is a cool video! cant believe he got the car moving again

  • CRV´S cant do that for sure haha

  • I have a 2004 Forester XS...... I love this video :)

  • I didn't know forestors could do that. lucky spin on the right wheel that day or what. subes are the rarity that does use the chassis, not just to mount the awd, it is part of it. that is to say, mounting it to another vehicle it won't even function correctly. They are proprietary after all. It is not like hacking an american 4x4 if you should ever get the chance to hack a sube...the sube is limited, unless hillbillied.

  • It's GT Forster :D

  • this is more due to subaru's awesome awd more than anything else

  • not to mention the way they engineer the car for the awd and all terrain style engineering in the chassis itself

  • @stlunaticajv ну хули тут сказать еще можно - субару - едИт :)

  • my dad owns a forester like that but it is silver and has off road mud tyres and one heck of a bullbar on the front and it makes landcrusers and prados ect...look like panzys

  • ohhh yeaaa made in Japan!

  • Thats pretty incredible. I got a Suzuki Samurai with off road tires stuck in mud about that deep, and it wouldn't budge.

  • Symmetrical...OMG !L.I.A.F

  • anti smart

  • Nice video..... put better off road tyres and maybe a lift.

  • is it lowered?

  • Where did it fail? All I see is an inexperienced driver getting out of a mud pit.....oh and any 4x4 having all 4 wheels with no traction ain't going anywhere without any help.

  • maybe..its maybe!

we`d knew there is so many Customers in the world who are only ORDINARY driverrrr!, so the purpose of the car, at this point vid is for everyone.

  • nice

  • old forester is much better than new forester in a natural disaster,,

  • as i can see, the oldest subaru has at least rear lsd (is it stock - viscous? or something better installed?), though the newer - both open diffs. There's nothing susprising..

  • "This looked very bad - but as you can see, good driver and good tires are all you need

" WHAT ABOUT THE SUBARU MAN, THE SUBARU!

  • you should go faster and wip into the mud so you dont get stuck

  • nowthats in true subaru fassion, u think its stuck but then it surprises u. im getting the '08 model next year. yay:)

  • You, the man. =)

  • you'll crack your block doing that. my friend cracked the block on his wagon doing that. that was crazy you got out though.

  • sooome body can't stop a subaru??? wonderful

  • Nice!

  • Very Impressive !

  • good work

  • Thanks for telling me that probably why mine went out on my Impreza too then.

  • After a wheelspin like this, the owner has to check the oil level in the center diff housing. The Forester has a nasty habit of emptying the center diff oil during wheel spins like this and will in the long run cause malfunctioning of the center differential.

This is the turbo model, I think the ordinary 2 ltr. manual, low gear model would handle this situation better.

  • frig man, you know your stuff!

  • good job!

  • That a boy

  • now there is a driver with talent...he could have buried it but he danced it out. I have a 2006 Forester XS and it goes through everything the east coast of Canada has given me so far.

  • now put a Honda CRV in there will that small SUV get out.

  • no a crv wouldnt

  • Thought so any crossover like the Forester would never do as well. Every info I found on Small SUV there not conpetive enought to do what the Forester can do all around.

  • You can buy cars such as the Ford Ranger or Nissan X-trail which are smaller SUVs with all mode 4wd systems such as basic diff locks. Still nothing compared to the Subaru's workmanship and soft roading capability.

  • nice car. seems fairly capable off road.

  • An offroad truck may have gotten through the first time, but no offroad truck could hold a candle to a Forester ON-road! For being essentially a road-going tall wagon, the Forester is incredibly capable offroad.

  • add another inch of height and some mud tires with a bit of a wider track and would of been through there first time

  • now an OFFROAD truck, would get through no problemo

  • Try getting out of that with a front or rear wheel driver.

  • not bad for stock tires
