He did create the group from the start and he included his friend "Stewart Sutcliff" who had no real musical talent. He is considered worldwide the 5th Beatle, not Brian Epstein as Paul declared. i remember as a pot head teen, I used to wake up early.... still half asleep and first thing id do is go take some bong rips or smoke some pipe bowls in the garage. real real early when the sun was first coming out, right before I felt real stoned id be back in bed and this song playing while id feel the perfect highs.....

Do you think Lennon wrote Let it be or yesterday ? They wrote their songs separately and they helped each other. Lennon did create a group called The Quarrymen and when he met Paul he invited him to join, the rest is history.
