This song is the reason why I'm a big fan of Little Chrissy and the Alphabeats today. Not kidding. This is my personal favorite. The drums and keyboard melody really make the cut.
kingslice: The thing is...fans--even adult ones--still consider them real, even if they're not really alive. So to tell them that the Muppets aren't alive when adult fans already know this or when kids just see the performers as people who carry their favorite friends around is an insult, even if it was not meant to come off as one.
Poor Zoe. She would be devastated to know that 'Rocko' is not alive, whereas Elmo would feel vindicated, since he's been trying to tell his girl friend this for years!
This song is my personal favorite! I love the rhythmic drums in the background! "You breathe and eat and grow, and that is how you know-uh-oh-uh-uh-oh!" Love it!!
well a rocks not alive..nonononono....and a clocks not alive...nononono....a telelphones not alive...nononono.....an ice cream cones not alive...nononono
But then again, The frog is alive..Yeah-Yeah, Yeah-Yeah-Yeah!....And a dog....and a dog is alive...Yeah-Yeah, Yeah-Yeah-Yeah!....A Pony is alive...Yeah-Yeah, Yeah-Yeah-Yeah!.....A Bunny is alive...Yeah-Yeah, Yeah-Yeah-Yeah!
Probably Little Chrissy and his Alphabeats must be the smartest muppets/people in the world who know a lot of things which is the reason why Little Chrissy mentioned to their audience how all three of them received a lot of letters asking them what's alive and what's not alive where everyone in the audience probably didn't understand the difference but, Little Chrissy and his Alphabeats know the difference since they're the smartest ones.
kingslice75: Shut it. To their fans and their performers, they are alive. Granted, without their performers, they are just peices of felt, faux fur, ping pong balls, and whatever, but with them, the Muppets do indeed "breathe" (the Alphabeets in this music video), "eat" (ex: Cookie Monster), and "grow" (ex: Big Bird later explaining to Elmo what the alphabet is when he himself didn't know what it was when he came onto the scene in 1969).
I made a passing comment and you are blowing it way out of proportion. It was not intended to be negative at all, YOU are making it that way. By the way, are muppets LITERALLY living carbon-based organisms? No? Then what I said is technically true. I love the muppets and loved Sesame Street, I was just pointing out the irony in the song. So just relax, buddy!
I really like this song, i always used to watch this in the 80's before going to pre-school. Is this song a parody? I used to think Sesame Street was a real place and the characters were real lol. Sesame Street in the 80's rules!
I also really like this song too. I always sang it when I was in kindergarten to some girl who was also in kindergarten and she really like it, especially whenever I sang the parts "breathe in, breathe out."
No. Just use the opening line from you'rs and the rest would come from wattamack's. I've done that with my upcoming Sesame Street double-language videos.
We all know what's alive and what's not alive. Come on now!

The opening sequence of this skit before Chris & The Alphabeats sang this song was cut from the video "Rock & Roll".

I saw this song on the Rock 'n Roll video, too, when I was a girl.

Very interesting.

I always hated it when the TV station went on stand by because something went wrong while Sesame Street was on.

Was this song a parody? and What year in the 80's was this done?
Eurodance90schick 3 years ago
All I know is that the year this first aired was in 1980.

@tpirman1982 Thanks!

This song was an original work. It doesn't sound like any other song I know.
And this song was from 1980.

kingslice: "LOL" means something is funny. It doesn't signal sarcasm.

Where'd you get the audio from?
wattamack4 3 years ago
If you read his description, he said he had an mp3 of the whole skit.
MarshalGrover 3 years ago
I meant where he got it from,if he got it from an old recorded tape he owns or an audio cassete.
wattamack4 3 years ago
I downloaded the mp3 somewhere, but I forgot where.
tpirman1982 3 years ago
It was the only source I had.
Again, this'll have to do for now until further notice.
tpirman1982 3 years ago
Or until the Sesame Street website puts it up in their videos section.
TelephoneRock4ever 2 years ago
Come on, guys, beggars can't be choosers in this case. tpirman, thanks for the upload!
DreamDancer82 3 years ago
You could've mixed the audio from wattmack4's video with your's.
MarshalGrover 3 years ago
No, otherwise it wouldn't match Little Chrissy's opening speech.
What else could I do?
A blank screen while Little Chrissy did his opening speech?
tpirman1982 3 years ago
No. Just use the opening line from you'rs and the rest would come from wattamack's. I've done that with my upcoming Sesame Street double-language videos.

wattamack had his account suspended. He's back now...but this hasn't reappeared (as of this writing) on his site.
