I've never heard the Van and Schenck version, like to find that some day. I love the Billy Murran / Isabelle Patricola version. I'm surprised this song had such a long life.
@ThePeaceableKingdom Yes, it is surprising, I wonder whose idea it was to revive this song in 1951 for Bing and Gary and Margaret and Jimmy, since the song must have been pretty obscure by then. It was a good idea though.
The best version of this oldie, I was lucky enough to see Margaret Whiting perform in 1988 with Kay Starr and Helen O'Connell in the 3 girls revue.
