  • That really blows. I have a similar problem that i can't figure out where its coming from. I have an 27" i3 that has all fans running at lowest speed but i still can hear them. The hdd is very noisy when working too but that doesn't bother me really. Its just the fan noise although they are all running very low. A friend of mine once pointed out that it could also be the hdds spinning that is making this noise. I guess noone else has ever had this issue right?

  • i hate this noise. glad i found this page

  • This is happening to mine now, but opposite... louder when brighter. **How long did the repair take?

  • Good thing macs are so reliable.

  • damn after 6 months my apple computer i3 21,5" start to have the same problem

  • ...zzzzzzzzzz... hey, what's that sound?

  • It's just snoring. Maybe you overworked him? :)

  • YOU PUTTED AN BEE TO YOUR COMPUTER!

  • @tweetyaja Thumbs up for bad grammar.

  • got the same problem with my i5

  • I don't know what I'm supposed to do now, I sent my iMac to some 3rd party the apple support told me on the phone already 3 times! and on the 3rd time they told me there was nothing wrong with my machine. But I've got the exact same problem.

  • have same problem, iMac is now in repair. Hope it returns soon. It was enough to play starcraft 2 for 40 minutes and iMac died.

  • I have the same problem, maybe now that the new imacs are out they will give me one of those he he...

  • was the problem the cable or the actual like power input on the imac? I just had the same noise. I turned the imac off and on and now it seems to be okay?

  • Problem solved! They changed my power supply!!After only two days i got my iMac back!Excellent service here in Frankfurt!

  • So the iMac is left to service...I told them that many people have the same problem and after the changed the power supply the problem disappeared and the agreed without any discussion to change mine too.I hope that onSaturday i will go and take it back.I will infrom you...

  • I have the same problem!!I bought the iMac 5 days ago and i noticed the problem 2 days ago. I downloaded a temperature monitor program and by the time the power supply temperature rises at 50 degrees calcius it starts doing it. At 49 not!I have in 2 days an appointment at genius bar. I hope the fix it!!

  • is that gunz been played at the background?

  • This vid is very helpful. This shows that iMac's are not perfect after all.

  • Strange..... 

  • WTF is that? i have one also. When i turn the speakers all the way up with mmy studio monitors up it busses not screech like that damn man take it back!

  • My iMac is having the same problem. So it ended up being the power supply?

  • @MacGeek08

    Yep the power supply!

  • I have the same issue. Really don't need the hassle to be honest...

  • I have the same issue. Really don't need the hassle to be honest...

  • damn !

  • that sucks

  • I have an iMac 27 with the same problem.can say that some details of the route followed to fix iMac. you have apple care? Can you tell the details, what was your iMac. I'm from Albania do not know how does the things, my iMac I have received from Italy. please responde to my message. I have more time stress.how Repair your iMac. for my. what is the problem in details because not understand.

  • My iMac had a faulty power supply and a they repaired it in the store (=a certified reseller) where I bought it. I would send it back an ask for a refund or bring it to a apple certified repair center. without apple care you also have 1 year limited warranty.

  • I got my 4th replacement Imac last week, they say that the quality problems have been addressed. I think not!!!

This is my first and probably last iMac...will swap this one out for a regular PC.

  • The funny thing is, that Apple says that they are no problem with the 27 inch iMac. The reason people are experience it: is because they don't know how to handle a Mac.. LOL XD

  • My 27" i5 Imac does this exact same thing i sent one back already because of it and guess what my replacement does it worse both week 51 machines .

They offered my a refund i told them no i just want a machine that works properly thanks im not asking much am i ? lol

  • this same thing happened to me I returned it and got another one

  • I was Wondering about the imacs 27 problems and I have an extrage dream, so 21 inches imac don't have problems right now, the problems its about the 27 inches imac, and I was thinking, that people that order Dual Core procesor come with ATI Radeon HD 4670, An I think that this GPU, can't with the 27 imac resolution, the people that have de quad core have ATI Radeon HD 4850, so if you r gonna buy an imac i recomend you buy it with the ATI Radeon HD 4850 gpu... =) Sorry bad english =/

  • My iMac is running perfect now, the problem wasn't in the GPU but it was a Faulty Power Supply. They first replaced the board backlight form the LCD pannel and they did this becaus the problem only occured when controling the brightness of the LCD pannel. Also the powersupply and the board backlight are build in next to eachother so the buzzing noise was difficult to pinpoint (= what the technician told me). So I think it all was a madder of bad luck.

  • :O... I mean when the screen is flickering

  • The screen of my iMac has never flickered???

  • I Know... just I mean that the problem of other imacs.... never mind =)

  • I see they fixed it for you. I hope you get the apple protection plan. If the power supply was messed up and doing all that stuff your other components could have suffered and you might not notice it until later on.

  • You're absolutely right, I've got the apple care protection plan indeed.

  • try this strart your computer and Press Option-Command-P-R until you hear two beeps. it reset NVRAM I fix my buzzing noisy by doing this...

  • is it all good now?

  • No it's not.

They have replaced the "boardm backlight 661-5311" but is still starts buzzng when CPU is about 50 degree Celcius.

  • I think it's the faulty capacitor that needs to be replaced

  • I'm going to bring it back on monday, they say it could also be the power suply unit. I hope they are going to fix it this time.

  • They have fixed my iMac by replacing the faulty power supply unit
