I was 15 in 89, and I recall the onslaught of TV ads for the movie, and Burger King ads, both on TV and at the stores. Everywhere. Batman was a *huge* deal. Comic book movies may have never taken off the way they have if it weren't for this film.
I remember being 8, sitting in the movie theater watching this scene, and I thought to myself, fuck I want to be Batman, and I want to bang Vicky Vale
I always felt that Tims movie was more in the gothic comic book universe were Nolon was based in a real world setting. Thats why Nolons Batmobile was like a small tank. You got the impression that Nolons batmobile could go through and over anything. Like an unstoppable force. But style wise I give the advantage to Tims Batmobile.
I remembered an entrance to my grandma`s house that was covered by trees and stuff, it kinda looked like a cave, and had a little road next to the house... After watching this, I kept playing that I owned a cave and a car (it was actually a bike, but...kids imagination ftw XD)
Personally, I've always like Keaton's Batmobile better than Bale's. Bale's BM works great but it can use a better, less "tank-like" design with more of a "bat kind" of a motif such as the use of wings.
Whenever I go out with a girl I grab my keys, put them to my mouth and say "shields open" as we approach my car. None of them have gotten it. So I'm still not married
My favorite scene from all the Batman movies. Interesting how The Dark Knight tends to get compared to this movie, but I felt like Batman Begins came closer to capturing the spirit of Batman89.
@Milordvega thank you. at least all of Batman's rides here had some resemblance of a bat. The Nolan rides look like friggin transformers. and did u see the new batwing. horrible.. still excited tho for the new movie. its all of the Batman we are gonna get..

,this batmoble has .50 cals on, it trip bars, sheids, hubcap bombs, jet engine, flanethrower, ect what does the tumbler has a bat bike well so does this one. Which batmobile is better I think the .50 cal won it for me
Micheal Keaton is both Batman and Bruce. No one else could play both in my opinion. Adam West was a good Bruce but gay as Batman. Val good as Bruce, sucked as Batman. Clooney both sucked as Batman and Bruce. Bale is good at Bruce but I hate his voice as Batman. I loved Jack as Joker because he took a comedic approach, but Kieth played a more realistic dark joker which I also loved. When Batman came out It was all I could talk about it for weeks, Everyone was so annoyed haha.
I don't know why, but as a kid, this scene was so powerful ,especially in teh beginning when he's coming down the hill.....im sure the msuic had soemthing to dow ith it, amybe it was jsut the atmosphere of it all lol
The biggest mistake in this franchise was not continuing the third and fourth movie with Keaton as Batman . Just having Keaton in Forever would have made it better and had Keaton been in Batman and Robin and that movie had a better story, Keaton against Arnold could have been a blockbuster.
Thanks Hollywood, Warner Brother, and Joel Schumacher for screwing up what could have been an epic 4th movie
Funny, Michael Keaton couldn't hear anything when he was dressed in that batsuit (fact), so when Vicky Vale asked him "Where are we going?" Keaton couldn't even hear her.
This was such a great batman. Nolan is brilliant, and i love what he's done, but this is a fucking great movie, irrespective of the slight deviations from the comic book source. Bless tim burton.
The music for this came on my iPod the other night while I was driving through some dark country roads with lots of trees... I may or may not have caught myself going 95mph in a 35 mph zone...
I love how he turns on the light to stop her from looking at him, the gesture is very childish and immature yet in the scene it doesn't look that weird, anyway it didn't look weird to me when i was a child. This scene is probably the best batman scene of all times
@ZeidBeyd I would have to do the same to somebody if they kept looking at me, for all we know she could of figured out who he was by the eyes and such. She's a reporter after all.
