  • It bots up that slow!!??

  • There's something seriously wrong with that computer.

I remember using those things in primary school, and not once have I seen one do that. I'm pretty sure the Apple IIE did that if you turned it off then back on too quickly. Does the unit make any sound when it does that? Try waiting about 10 seconds before turning it back on after turning it off.

  • No there isn't anything wrong with the system. That's the Apple IIgs built in diagnostics system. It tests the video, memory and sound of the system incase something is wrong. Did you read the video description?

"The Apple IIGS doing that weird diagnostic thing.", meaning it's in diagnostic mode. I remember the Atari 800XL had something like that too.

  • Yes I did read the video description... after posting the comment. How do you put the machine into diagnostic mode? Does the unit make any sound when it's in diagnostic mode?

  • You do one of the following: Open-Apple and Option when you power the system up, or Open-Apple, Option, and Reset after an initial warm boot.

Yes it makes a sound when it plays the scales. I would have included audio with my video, but the sound on my computer wasn't cooperating .
