ehe vad seeds ver4sion is very agressiv impu;s bcause ste story about stahhers lee is not a love song, so to bring rhis number in this beutiful akkistiel version amazie me.
Marvelous stuff - I heard him do this at the Symphony Hall in Brum a couple of years ago! Possibly the same tour as this! So glad someone got a recording - I really think Nick Cave should release a recording of these solo shows. Or better still - go into a studio with Warren and record a set! The tunes are rendered so differently it's almost like having completely new material. Stagger Lee & Henry Lee are particularly fine!
Thanks so much for the video Reduct. It'll be on my ipod by morning!
@theoriginalmilo Hmmm. I wonder if it's the same tour that I caught him at The Bridgewater Hall, in Manchester. I reckon it was probs the best of his gigs I've been to. It was mainly just him on the piani, every now and again he'd be joined by Warren and/or the others. I rate that gig as the best time I'd seen him mostly because it was so different than any other time I've seen him and it worked so well! He's not the most vocal performer with the crowd, is he? But [cont...]
[...cont] it was great to know that when he opens his mouth to talk with or respond to the audience, his intelligence and wit is obvious. He's actually really funny! I mean, yeah, us fans know that his lyrics are full of great, dark humour but he can actually be traditionally funny, even so much as using punchlines!! Hehe :-)
Can't remember what he said but remember him shrug off a taunting heckle of "PHIL COLLINS!!" with, "oh, so that's the famous Northern Humour, then, is it?" and a sigh. :-)
Nobody disliked this video because they know Stag'll put four holes in their motherfucking heads.
