i replaced my superdrive, because it wouldnt read cd disc now since i replace with a new one it wont read disc and sounds crunchy an flutters when i insert the cd. i have early 2008 macbook 13" dual core 2.4 . i replaced it with this Apple SuperDrive DVD Burner Drive 8x - Macbook pro UJ-857. Does anyone know what the issue is or what is the exact superdrive compatible with my system..thanks
@ashebeb - There is not an internal blu-ray slimline drive available at this time, and the OS currently does not support watching blu-ray at this time either.
i locked my region code on 2 and i want it back to one so i can watch my dvds again. i know that it saves to the dvd drive itself. if i replace the drive will that give me back region code 1 again?
@vek123 eh?you dont need to replace the drive. the region code can be reset easily. You can only do it for 5 times though. and, if you still wanna change the region code after that, just reformat your laptop. that's way easier than replacing the superdrive.
Hello, my macbook plays dvd and cd's fine, however the mechanism that pulls the disc in and pushes it out seems to be messing up. Does this mean i need a new drive, is it a another porblem?

Can I replace the Superdrive with a Solid State Drive?
If so, what are the requirements for the Solid State Drive?
Thanks beforehand.
carlossaenz95 9 months ago
@carlossaenz95 - You'd need one of our DualDrive enclosures and a solid state drive, but the answer is yes.
