any diesel can start up when you hold the damn glow plug switch down for 10 hours. my toro will start up after about 10 seconds of preheating it in like 3 degrees F
Yes, here we have it...there are no problems with diesel engines...someone have problems with starting them up. I would like to admit for people could not start'em up, you have to heat the engine before turning (at) the ignition!
do they cut the fuel with kerosene where you are? in NH straight diesel will jell if its not cut . they usually go 30% kero 70% diesel when it gets below zero. But then again when it goes below 0 it stays there for months. This cut is right out of the pump. Nice tractor.
I don't get all the nonsense about "cold starting a diesel". There are MANY products today to ensure a fast start....electric pre-heaters, electric dipsticks, magnetically attached heaters, etc. Outside of being dumb and lazy, there is no reason one cannot easily start diesels in very cold weather.
I love the little Kubota B series tractors. they're really rock solid reliable, rugged, durable, dependable, and so on.
I am more glad than any one, to see some one who knows a thing or two about starting up diesel's in the cold, I.E Winter, where I am it has been sub zero temperatures for the past week or so.
biggest thing I love is the sound of the engine and exhaust, that's a great sound.
I used to have a B7100 4x4 many years ago. It was an early 80's model. Always started no matter how cold. I now have a 2002 JD 4200 HST and I think that little Kubota could out pull this JD with 12 less HP. Pretty sad!
my kubota manual says that in temps of 5 degrees f or less to preheat for 8 seconds so i asked the dealer and he sayed that if you preheat for 2 long you'll burn out the glow plugs
We are dealers of Kubota engines and spares and have just set up a forum for users to share their experiences and find help with any problems they may have. Check out the forum on our website.
you shouldnt need a minute worth of glow plugs, even on an older diesel. Glow plugs heat up real quick. You might want to invest in new glow plugs which wont cost much. Yours couldnt be burnt out and old. should need no more then 10 seconds of glow plugs.
what model engine does that tractor have? I just picked up a Kubota D905 3cylinder and I love it. Solid engine. 5114 hours on the clock and still starts no problem!
wtf i have worked on kubotas 3 years and never have problems with starting :S 1 kubota stayd on 1 place the whole winter and nothing it worked 100 % fine only needed lil oil and disel and btw -4*F is nothing
yup, kubota rocks- just picked up a 2010 2320 and love it- I must also admit that my old john deere 855 started at 10F with no pre-heating this winter- amazed me
My dad has a vw transporter diesel heating the plugs about three times does. No harm to it it gets the engine started. Vw are bugga to start in cold mornings. Specially diesels
Personally, I have a whole lot more going on in my life than endlessly discussing and debating the various trials, issues and myths around cold starting a Kubota diesel, you guys should get a life!
i have a kubota d600 in my golf cart and on cold days, it takes about a min of preheating to get her to start. Once its running, tho, it runs GREAT! Lots of power.
ah man started right up my cummins diesel is harder to start the this little tractor lol and yeah guys kubota recommends you heat it for that long 1.if you but a kubota tractor it says right on the dash board 2.he made a video showing that it says that lol
I miss my Kubota. It was very old, like 1980-ish. I used to drive it to the store as a kid. Rain, sleet, snow, whatever, just give the old glow plugs a few seconds and she'd fire right up. Never had too many problems out of the old beast... A freeze plug here, a new clutch there, had to change the ignition out because of a short (during that time I just had it hotwired lol). Was a great running tractor, had a tiller and bush hog for it.
1 minute is to much lol. there no point holding it on that long. 10 seconds it more than enough for -4. they dont really star past -17. need a block heater. or it might be 14. but anyway. i live in canada and give it cold starts all the time. 10 degress i just hold it on for 5 seconds.
I have a Kubota B7500, my family bought nothing but JD. This tractor is used in the summer and in the minus degree winters of New England and has not once ever failed me. The next tractor I buy willl by far be another Kubota.
I have a B6100E it never lets me down. It is used winter and summer and starting it is not even an issue. My next tractor will be a Kubota. Remember, it's all about maintenance.
@steeve1bmx they are great tractor if there took care of i am considering buying a l2550 i think thats the number there are lots of numbers for kubota tractors
i've got a 85 b7200 and just picked up a b6100. i'm unsure of the year. i think the b6100 needs a set of glow plugs, but i aint even got it home yet. starts perfect when ts warm but requires some undesired assistants when cold.... the b7200 is 100 percent original, just about from the oil and filter up to the glow plugs. untreated summer fuel, -5 deg, run the glow plugs for 20 to 30 seconds and it fies right up, idles a little rough but hey, shes beat and never fails to fire off..
It's both for us. It's a tractor but we have a three point hitch that hooks up to a plow. It works awesome in snow. I wish we would get some so I could take a video of it working!
hey you probably not so phat american ass, start it at -25 celsius and then you have sumthin, at the moment you talk alot of shit bout nuttin, haha soft shite hahaha

Yeah, lol, I do like cold weather! I'm not sure why the volts read low when the engine is first started. Maybe because the battery was a little low or something.
problem is kubotas eat batteries

1. Insert key
2. Drain battery by charging glow plugs
3. Hope you have enough battery charge left to start it
4. If it doesn't start leave tractor until battery can be charged or spring arrives.
5. Replace tractor by mid summer or move to warmer location
I should have saved up more money and bought a Deere or CAT as those seem to be the machines that start around here in -20 below at 10k feet.
On the plus side, I get a lot of exercise owning a Kubota, I do all the shoveling.

TheRcfanatic 2 years ago
Kubotas are good tractors BUT
when it breaks down you have to get the parts straight from a Kubota warehouse. with a Farmall or a John Deere
you can order it from NAPA which is a heck of a lot cheaper. so great tractors bad to replace parts.
