hey eeeasy there's a line between emo and fashioncore... and if you're depressed nobody forces you to wear black clothes and use black nailpolish or whatever. emos originated from punks and in the begining it was just the clothes and the soft music - even though musicians whom fans call "emo bands" deny it themselves. being depressed is a bad state of mind (been there) and being emo is something you choose for yourself - it's whether you'll let the world see that you're in pain.

Emo was more of a trend that came from the gothic character. Not naggin' at'cha, but saying that emo derived from punks is kind of an insult.

Yeah, I just read it sry - aand emo style back then was just another trend - nobody knew it would turn into the commercial shit it is today. Just like when goth or punk originated - the attitude was about the same. Now - most people who say they're emo either do it because of the clothes or whatever and simply overdramatize utterly small problems to make it seem like their life sucks (got carried away lol). And it's a fact that the first so-called emo bands originated from punk and indie bands.
