I didn't realise the cause untill I saw this video... ...Can it be saved? Are there any remedial stretches that can be recommended? I was a keen practicioner with ALOT of talent (I've already achieved various aerial spinning techniques and my timing and co-ordination is of a high level) however this 'injury'/impairment has served as a deterrent lately... ...and I've put on weight and lost ability because of this...please help!!!
Stretch everyday do some power walking and a big advice for me If you have a leg injury start doing stances like the horse stance bow stance and cat stance these exercises will strenghing your legs and is good to maintan your balance
I think through throwing my foot too high in this routine i may have loosened a muscle and my right foot turns ever so slighly 'downwards' on its right hand side.
To gain distance that rule has to go. If stationary the you do not have to come off the ground. To move forward with one foot on the ground you must remove the resistance of the ground by slightly jumping off the ground and sliding forward.
Did you even listen to the rest of the video. It was explained.
theres no x at 3:56 so don't gimme dat but shit, and plus, if you think that your so clever, a few seconds means 2 or 3 seconds and theres no x around that point
well, the reason u shouldn't be TOO much on ur toes is cause ur base is then very small and therefore, very weak
so if a back-kick was done to counter the ax kick, then it would result in a fall because of the easy loss of balance, or fall from the air (if u were to jump)
I love it all, i first started off with wresteling
then put Muay thai in the mix and now with a basic knowledge and skill of fighting im starting to go into advanced kicks and stretching.... A solid skill of various arts is the key to winning and self defence. I basically am looking into TKD for its broad coverage of kicks.
thats stupid some mma fighters dont even kick. please dont ever say this agian, whyd you do that too me, did you no irritation, stress, and anger kills you!?
axe kick is found in korean martial taekyon and in many forms of kung fu...karate developed the technique but the taekwon do axe kick is different in execution and technique.its an amalgamtion, not the same at all.
yea lol i dont really like sparring much, the fact i can protect myself and my good character by following the tenets is enough for me, i dont really like fighting just because my master told me to do so lol, it makes me not fight properly, i end up not being able to concentrate and getting my ass kicked.
this video shows how to execute proper axe kick not to undermind other martial arts. .so those whose comments are negative this is nor for you, dont spend time to this if u dont want. . for those who want to learn. .then gud luck. . . tkdjindave
All of u always respect the art of the other, the taekwondist here do u all forget the jurament of the taekwondist what is this, a fght to see who is better, dudes the tournaments r made for it, in life we have to be the examples, i think the ego has bit u, here talks a studient of tkd from uruguay. Lets be an example, we r all martial brothers, never mind the grade in ur belt, that is just a belt to hold ur pants.
I´m a Chilean 6th Degree Black Belt in taekwondo. For me, this is a greath video, very technick and didactic. If anyone don´t like this kind of teaching, like we like it....please don´t lose your time writing sheet...

Yeah well I'm a tenth dan dark black belt (one up from black) in Muay Thai which kicks TKD ass! I use it on the STREET every day. That's right on the street where it matters- I get attacked every day man- mostly twice a day and I use Muay Thai to TAKE THEM DOWN! Because Muay Thai can knock bullets out the air so that's why TKD SUCKS!
There is no reason to down talk another style of martial art. As a true martial artist one learns to respect each other. I practice Tae Kwon Do and I am interested in other styles. One is not better than the other just different. If you combine all the different types of martial arts together you have one awesome practitioner. Keep training and change the attitude.
ahhahaha here is a guy who thinks he soo smart in Martial Arts I'm a 6th Dan i tae kwon do and it does not even go as far as 10th dan and i am a pro senior champ in Muay Thai and i do not even believe for one second you even do Martial Arts I've been doing 4 Martial Arts ever since i was 3 Judo, BJJ, Muay thai and Tae kwon do you are very pathetic.
perhaps but martial arts are not to be compared and yes some are better then others but it does not matter some feel comfortable with some martial arts the martial arts that aren't really good but even so they all become great fighters once they master it.
Maravilha! Este tutorial on-line será indispensável para quem quer aprender ou aperfeiçoar o Taekwondo. Com a vantagem de ser ensinado pelos pais da matéria. Valiosa dica Vinícios - Kam-sa-ni-da!
lol thats why ppl start early so that you dun have to try hard to be flexible its easier to become flexible when your young i havent dun martial arts in like 5 years but i only lost about 4 inches on flexiblity XD
i used to stretch heaps. but then i stopped and when i tried the axe, i went above my limits, causing my supporting foot to slip and i fell on my ass. :(
This looks fucking cool no doubt, TKD has some fucking bad ass kicks, but If Mirko Can bust the kick perfectly and not KO anyone then I am pretty sure the kick (thought looks fucking cool) has no KO power and is to risky, let alone in a street fight.
You need to watch more of Andy hug. His axe kicks seem to KO nearly on every first one ;) This is dangerous kick definitely, when it lands on your opponent perfectly.
Since when has the effectiveness of a martial art have anything to do with a streetfight? If you want to just learn how to beat the shit out of someone, then that fine, but TaeKwonDo doesn't just teach you how to fight there is a spirituality that goes along with it, it teaches you discipline, self control and respect.
i tried, but i cant find any source that says it's spelled that way at all... No worries though, i know what you mean. My TKD master tells me i kick like a muay thai fighter
does anyone know what that techno/trance song is that's played during the first revolution of kicking splash screen? I had it many years ago, but can't remember the name for the life of me! Thanks so much!
It seems the axe kick without bending the knee can only be good using the reverse foot (or foot opposite from the leading one) since it adds a bit to the range. Otherwise, yeah the knee is regularly bent to do this
lol taekwondo kicks work against everyone but i suggest to lift up your knee like when u r doin a frontsnap kick - it'll make your axe kick much faster, by the way if your move around your leg a bit left or right, but not too much like for a cresent kick, u can strick your opponents head with a very shock distant, ELF.

Let me revise what I said. This is the first kick that we teach at our dojang. The front snap kick is the second kick we teach with round house kick being the third. The reason the stretch or axe kick is first is because it also is use as a dynamic stretch technique. Maybe that is why all our color belt fighters (adults) tend to score rather easily with the axe kick on other schools. We teach this kick first. So to us this is our basic kick.
Oh, I see. At our dojang we call that dynamic stretch "Front Rising Kick."
As seen in this video, Axe Kick has different implementations. For example, during sparring, when you are close to your opponent, you don't want to raise your leg straight, but rather bent to prevent being struck down. Axe Kick also uses force on the downward motion, which we don't normally do in front rising kicks.
You are correct. We do the same thing but since we do the straight up and down kick as a stretch kick we also teach the outside in axe and the inside out axe. Then we teach the bent knee technique after about a month or so or when you start Kyorugi whatever comes first.
For that guy saying something kickboxing. Learn more about what you are talking about and respect the others. The World Champion of Kickboxing (a guy from Argentina) is a Tae Kwon Do martial artist and he uses the axe kick a lot. Any movement or technique is very useful when done properly. Excellent video btw. :-)
hahaha axe kick only works in king of fighters hahaha oh and in the tae kwon do competitions, coz against a kickboxer fighter is kinda hmm useless? stupid move? anyway it looks nice for my gf to practice some pussy and weak sport
I suppose you have never fought a real taekwondo 'pussy'. I fight competitions against other martial arts like kickboxing and karate. and believe me, this taekwondopussy have already sum KO's with this kick. maybe you are to incompetent to do this kick. I'm feeling sorry for you.
they're called MMA or K1. There are also other competitions but less known. If you try to join these championships, i'd advise you to learn some kickbox tricks too.

I suppose you have never fought a real taekwondo 'pussy'. I fight competitions against other martial arts like kickboxing and karate. and believe me, this taekwondopussy have already sum KO's with this kick. maybe you are to incompetent to do this kick. I'm feeling sorry for you.

Really? I would like to test out my skill in this one day. Where is this? What is the name of these competitions? Is there a belt rank requirement?
Thanks...

they're called MMA or K1. There are also other competitions but less known. If you try to join these championships, i'd advise you to learn some kickbox tricks too.

Thanks for the information.
I will take your advice, too.
Now, I shall see if they have matches in my area.
Thanks again!
