just a short note on tools for creating animated backgrounds like that. You don't need a expensive software to create things like that. You can use a free tool like Blender (a 3D software).
But nomather how much/little you pay for the software, you still need a great deal of training before you can create things like that.. :?D
at least one screen capture software that i'm familiar with allows you to highlight the pointer which can be used as an effective attention pointing device.
Good technique Rick. I tried using screen capture software once and it just didn't work for me, when I played the footage back the picture froze and so it didn't work well at all.
@richishard I think you want a non-linear editor (much easier to work with). :?D
First I would recommend you take a look at LightWorks (lightwoksbeta dat com), it's a very capable videoeditor/compisitor with roots within Hollywod etc which is now on it's way to become opensource. (Only windows [I think]).
It's hard to recommend software as I don't know what OS you run (personally I mainly use Linux, which it exists many good free videotools for)
If you don't mind learning new things you might want to try Blender 3D (it's mainly a 3D software, but has a builtin Sequence editor. the seq.editer is good [enough for basic editing], but not great...).
If you search wikipedia for "comparison of video editing software", you'll get a list of different ("popular") video editors.
But again: I recommend that you take a look at Lightworks (even though it's "only" beta), it looks real good and I'm going to try it myself... :?D
I just wanna point out that software that created the background video is called Adobe After Effects. You can download a 30 day trial from their website. Then I would like to say that videocopilot (google it, cant put in webadresses) have lots of free tutorials for creating amazing animations.
Video background, key framed foreground graphics, got it. :) I sort of had it figured out but you have just made it all crystal clear. I imagine the real art of this is to make the movements look natural against the background.
Movietools dot info has a few free backgrounds and from the graphics I suspect had something to do with your old news studio program. Great tutorial!!!
If there's anyone that wants to make their own introductions from scratch you can get 'Riot Gear' which is a bunch of airbrush patterns, background textures and video samples by the company 'video co-pilot'.
The company Rick brought the videos off used it to produce the introduction video.
Nice tutorial Rick. I've just been using key framing to make an earthquake effect. Just looped the same combination of small movements over and over again. Works pretty well.
your cool.

Q. Do you know any free linear video editor
richishard 1 year ago
@richishard The only, free, linear video editor I can think of is VirtualDub (or VirtualDubMod), but that's not perhaps the easiest tool to use.. :?)
May I ask why you want a linear editor and not a non-linear (there's many more, decent, free non-linear editors, than linear.. :?D )!?
MrCHISOL 1 year ago
@MrCHISOL well tbh i dont actually know the difference between them :L and is there any free non linear one's ?
