This version is amazing! It really is wonderful, but it lacks the sheer emotional connection the original has. I am more engaged and connected with the original.
I don't think it does really. There's no overly dramatic lyricism (actually quite the opposite), prominent but simplistic drumming (no drums at all), vocal harmonies, or Chris Martin singing like a douche.
I agree that it doesn't really sound like Viva La Vida, (totally different arrangements and instruments and such) but there's no reason to put down another band or singer in the process. I hardly think they were comparing their vocal capabilities or style.
It actually doesnt sound anything like Viva La Vida. Viva La Vida has more heavy strings, where this has not nearly as much. And Karen O doesnt sound like the guy from Coldplay either...
oh my god. SO MUCH LOVE.

Both versions of this are off the hook. I can't remember a song where I've loved both versions equally. Could listen to each 100x a day.

This is a lovely version of the song, but the original has the tempo and strain that wakes up your soul.

Fun fact: Nick Zinner is the son of a classically trained pianist and Harvard medical professor. Also Zinner was a prodigy violinist as a child.

I love this. The original is slow and mellower, unique in it's own way. I LOVE THIS

This is my favorite band in ages, but this sounds like it was arranged by a 12 year old...

I'll give you the string instruments though.
