And as a result, the physical laws that denote properties to matter in the entire gigaplex not just planet earth, support chemical bonding and atomic stability to the smallest level through various denotions of highly variable constants. Yes if things were different then we might not be here, the universe as we know it wouldn't be the same, or maybe never even expanded at all, so what caused it to come into place the way it is?
My response is I don't know how it all started, maybe someday we will but as of now we don't. Maybe there was something before the big bang, I have no idea if there was or there wasn't. But that's the thing, no one knows. So why assume that a god did it? We are here as a result of how the universe is, the universe doesn't exist because of us. I just don't see any proof that any god had anything to do with it, just uncertainties that people fill in with "god".
@SupremeAmerican That being said ID is a direct evolution (lol) of creationism. When the creationists got denied their hope to teach "God" in schools they came up with a more "scientific" way to present their claim so the schools would have to accept their hypothesis. This attempt has been denied over and over again. So maybe ID and creationism don't hold the same claims, they come from the same background, evolved from the same closed point of view if you will.

There's thousands of versions of ID and Creationism and whatever you can think of. I like to derive mine from science and fact. The philosophical concept i draw to the ID / God portion comes through Einstein's general theory of relativity more or less. And i completely agree with you that teaching creationism as fact in schools is wrong.

Just be careful not to draw broad conclusions on a whole peoples due to the actions of a tiny percentage. When his family would go to Church, Darwin would sometimes leave the church and read his Bible, or do other things.

As I already said, it doesn't matter what Darwin thought about god's existence. Nothing we currently know about the evolutionary process suggests that it's based on a pre-determined intelligent design.

@SupremeAmerican Not only is that not logical, it seems very unlikely. We have no evidence that this 'first cause' was conscious, we don't have enough information to decide. But that doesn't mean that you take any gaps in your knowledge and fill it with god. That's what people have done for thousands of years. People didn't know how lightening worked, so they created Zeus to fill the gap. So God, especially the one that was made up thousands of years ago, isn't anywhere near logical, as a cause.

You seem to think any former Christian-now Atheist was never a "true Christian" to begin with. This is not scriptural. 2 Peter 2:20 clearly states that some who knew Christ could turn away. 1 Tim. 4:1 clearly states some will abandon the faith, which you can't do unless you already had the faith. If I was a Christian by Bible standards, who am I to argue?

I've thoroughly studied evolution, and the preponderance of evidence is so overwhelming I can't in good conscience say it didn't happen, when I know damn well it did. Evolution is the observation that living organisms adapted over a long period of time in a way that helped them survive in the environments in which they lived (oversimplified). ID says that some magical being created everything to be what it is (supposing "God" did it). ID may not oppose evolution directly, but to say it's the same thing is an argument from ignorance.

What ID is, is that the electromagnetic, gravitational, and many other coupling constants, along with the proton to electron mass ratio, the decay rate of the proton, the speed at which the universe expands, the mass density of the universe and a host of other characteristics that formulate our physical laws, are exactly precise to allow chemical bonding, atomic stability, and all things that made evolution possible. From what I understand of your argument is that everything seems to be made for our existence therefore it was designed, that's what I mean by an argument from ignorance. And as a result, the physical laws that denote properties to matter in the entire gigaplex not just planet earth, support chemical bonding and atomic stability to the smallest level through various denotions of highly variable constants. Had they been any different, matter would be unstable. Whether or not you agree or disagree does not affect me, but to insult me is ignorant.

My response is I don't know how it all started, maybe someday we will but as of now we don't. Maybe there was something before the big bang, I have no idea if there was or there wasn't. But that's the thing, no one knows. So why assume that a god did it? We are here as a result of how the universe is, the universe doesn't exist because of us. I just don't see any proof that any god had anything to do with it, just uncertainties that people fill in with "god".

@SupremeAmerican That being said ID is a direct evolution (lol) of creationism. When the creationists got denied their hope to teach "God" in schools they came up with a more "scientific" way to present their claim so the schools would have to accept their hypothesis. This attempt has been denied over and over again. So maybe ID and creationism don't hold the same claims, they come from the same background, evolved from the same closed point of view if you will.

There's thousands of versions of ID and Creationism and whatever you can think of. I like to derive mine from science and fact. The philosophical concept i draw to the ID / God portion comes through Einstein's general theory of relativity more or less. And i completely agree with you that teaching creationism as fact in schools is wrong.

Just be careful not to draw broad conclusions on a whole peoples due to the actions of a tiny percentage. @jungsbodyguard Your quote does no such thing. An ardent theist is a religious person. Darwin did not like organized religion, but he liked Jesus Christ, and often questioned if he was truly divine. When his family would go to Church, Darwin would sometimes leave the church and read his Bible, or do other things.

Evolution is the product of chemical bonding being made possible by atomic stability and the precise constants that dictate the physical laws universally, like gravitational and electromagnetic. And that is the more logical stance believe it or not, than the all by chance thesis required to not believe in God. Because those constants were 'first caused' at the first known cause, as currently speculated as, the big bang.

As I already said, it doesn't matter what Darwin thought about god's existence. Nothing we currently know about the evolutionary process suggests that it's based on a pre-determined intelligent design.

I have written several paragraphs discussing how it is only logical to be from a source of intelligence because it does in fact move forward from a singularity based and very precise and unlikely to the point of zero constants that dictate the physical laws that make evolution and chemical bonding possible in the first place.

Even if, hypothetically, the 'first cause' of the big bang was a conscious entity, that was aware of what it was doing; this doesn't logically follow that this same intelligence started life on this planet billions of years later, has the characteristics of the God we've decided and has concern for every one of us.

@SupremeAmerican Not only is that not logical, it seems very unlikely. We have no evidence that this 'first cause' was conscious, we don't have enough information to decide. But that doesn't mean that you take any gaps in your knowledge and fill it with god. That's what people have done for thousands of years. People didn't know how lightening worked, so they created Zeus to fill the gap. So God, especially the one that was made up thousands of years ago, isn't anywhere near logical, as a cause.

Why would mainstream science be afraid of a question or opinion? If ID can be so easily dissmissed then do just that. I believe this is more politically movtivated ...the Marxist Communist took control of the educational system in this country a few decades back......Mainstream Science has taken on the role of the Vatican 4 or 5 centuries ago.....suppressing legitmate scientific theory ,questions, opinions and thought. Huh.
