Mate I do feel for you, as this has just happened to me!! Sony are demanding 130 odd quid for a replacement! robbing bar stewards! I went through all the motions of hard drive removal et al....... Spoke to sony this evening and they are basically saying it could be anything.......Rubbish. I owned an xbox prior to ps3 and even when they broke they fixed it for free. Might go back.........good vid by the way and good luck with ur progress!
Why pay Sony hundreds of dollars to fix THEIR mistake? Fix your PS3 today by yourself at home. From YLOD to red screen - youtube.com/watch?v=W6IqzZV3c0k
it also happened to my ps3, i read on da net and many people say it's caused by a piece or stuff that controls the amount of electricity, i don't really know, and i think you shouldn't have taken off the hdd, coz i think your warranty won't work, I took my ps3 to a sony service center and they gave me a new one , i think that just happened to the first ps3's, coz this new one is like from the second generation and it rocks ^^'
