Nothing in this law lets anybody go up and verbally abuse someone, because that's harrassment, a crime. All this law protects is freedom of speech and freedom of religion. It ensures that Christians, Muslims or whoever, wont face criminal or disciplinary reprimand for opposing homosexuality.

@JRobbySh no, I think that sexual orientation is equal to race and gender in the sense that these are innate, inborn human characteristics over which the individual has no control and cannot change. In that respect, they are identical. It also explains why employers bundle those aspects together in their anti-discrimination policies. They are one and the same. I can no longer change my sexual orientation than I can change my race. Gender is easier to change, as we have operations for that.

@JRobbySh no, I think that sexual orientation is equal to race and gender in the sense that these are innate, inborn human characteristics over which the individual has no control and cannot change. In that respect, they are identical. It also explains why employers bundle those aspects together in their anti-discrimination policies. They are one and the same. I can no longer change my sexual orientation than I can change my race. Gender is easier to change, as we have operations for that.

The percentage of the population that is homosexual has remained unchanged over time and cross culturally. This is enough evidence to prove that homosexuality is natural, normal and necessary biologically.

It's because the Christian bigots are doing themselves more harm than good. Four times as many people worldwide are losing a faith as gaining one. This is clear sign that the Christian "message" is losing. Young people view religiously based bigotry as odious and unacceptable. It's about time. This is the fault of Christians

@JRobbySh actually, that's no surprise about Lord Russell learning religion from agnostics. The most educated people are usually agnostic or Atheists. I have a Ph D and I'm an Atheist. Very, very, very few people with high advanced degrees are religious. Religious people fear education, and that's why they hide out in their ignorance. Most Christians don't even understand their bibles, and they prefer to remain ignorant. For example, the word "abomination" doesn't mean "sin."

Since this is based on integrity, honesty, and the fact that we, as human beings, have nothing to be ashamed of, I have NO doubt that our 'movement' will be successful at gaining our equality. In case you haven't noticed, the gay community has made incredible leaps and bounds in this effort already. As much as 40 percent of Americans now live in states which grant gays marriage equality.

Both groups have been persecuted and denied basic human and civil rights, due to personal innate characteristics over which they have no control and are powerless to change. Is it true that blacks have a harder time of hiding their identity? Yes, but this makes it all the more frustating for gay people because we have the ability to hide WHO we are.
