ah, I'm a complete noob to Linux, I always assumed it was some sort of fully code based OS where you had to type 1000 lines of codes to open up Firefox lol, but i downloaded mint 8 and installed it yesterday, and its awesome lol. well, the effects are anyway. loads of people -like i did- think its some huge task installing it, but really... you can dual boot your system with both windows and Linux.. aannnyway.. my point is, its serveral times better than windows imo.
Yeah, non-ported software and hardware that wasn't designed for linux are a big part of the issue. I imagine it's like the frustration of vista x1000.
I'm recording my Linux 3D Desktop Videos with recordMyDesktop, and keep playing around with the frame rates. When they get sent to YouTube I keep getting the flickering.
And you've personally, actually, used Linux, specially with Mint or Ubuntu, and combined with WINE? If you didn't know, WINE let's you run Windows progs through it on Linux. So quit hating and make sure you have proof to show for. Windows is buggy, and is in constant need of updates... The only reason I still have it is cause of prog compatibility. But soon, very soon, I'm switching to Mint. :)

I don't deny that linux is likely superior if you have the know how. But linux fanboys overlook something very frequently: Cbf.

"So, how can we free those fish?"
$ free the fish
Unfortunately, theres no way to put the fish back in without killing the gnome panels :)

chucknorris687,
I just feed the fish! LOL!
Sorry, what do you want to do?

Really stupid question I am sure of it, but what do you do once you have downloaded the packages and install them?

seth556,
I've now all my icons on a taskbar at the top of my screen.
YouTube doesn't let me reference URLs to show you.
I think that Google is a Linux Hater. LOL!

I like the idea of just adding a panel at the bottom with all the program icons instead of using another app like awn.

Meanwhile -
Back on the ranch we using Linux keep using it, and using it to run Desktops, servers, databases, animations -- really skilled jobs.
For the rest of you running M$ stuff, you have to be kidding. Games - buy a PS3 game station. You can run it using Yellow Dog Linux.
Linux Rules. You need to convert, compile, and get real!

On some games, maybe. It's still working some bugs out, but they ran half life 2 with very few lags.

TomMinderson,
