  • I think she sang that pretty well for someone who is only twelve and can't afford singing lessons. Even though I didn't vote for her, I still absolutely enjoyed this performance and I would like to see her come back on America's got Talent in a few years.

  • Dont like her singing :( shes bad ..no offense

  • ....Monet was in my class last year :l she got on my nerves alot, but i guess she was o.k. Yes, she had an atitude that was a bit like,"ill prove to you that i will be awesome" kinda thing, but she didnt really get it sometimes when people told her something, like the judge did when he told her that her voice wasnt mature enough. Haters, shut up. shes 12. Im not saying that she was great, but give her a break.

  • dude, to all u freakin haters, SHUT UP! she went to my school last year, i walked home with her every day, she was my neighbor, and i didnt treat her as well as i should have :l she is awesome, u guys just need to shutup, u guys dont know her.

  • Why so many dislikes? SHE'S 12! She is actually a really good singer and such a lovely girl, with such a sad story.

  • @MultiDrakeMaster No thanks. You stop being an asshole, get a life, and grow up.

  • @MultiDrakeMaster Doesn't change the fact that your an asshole.

  • her talk really touched me!

  • @MultiDrakeMaster Well you are an asshole but I agree that religion is ridiculous.

  • @MultiDrakeMaster That's your opinion. Clearly she has more of a life than you or me because while we're wasting our time posting comments on youtube, she's doing other things like practicing her singing. Anyway, is she religious or something?

  • I can not believe they put her through and Ryan Andreas got cut?????? Politics suck. And she is terrible.

  • Comment removed

  • @MultiDrakeMaster The likes and dislikes are about even. That means she was mediocre and just because so many people disliked this video doesn't mean she was bad.

  • I love her!

  • Why was she holding those random numbers up at the end?? Lol!?

  • i dont know why but when i hear her sing i think of pippy longstockings

  • shes good.

  • thats right monet. REPRESENT HiRMS!!

  • She's the next Braxton :D

  • I heard that in the LIVE Audience that they had technical difficulties and coudln't hear her singing? But how the did the camera pick her voice up?

  • Anyone notice that none of the numbers she put up was her voting number?

  • Comment removed

  • can't stand her voice.. sorry

  • Shes 12....She has a beautiful heart, more so than I feel than most, give her a little time and she will fly very high.

  • Comment removed

  • I didn't like her performance at all.

  • @AwantedNinja I'll have to agree with you. I don't think she's bad or anything.

  • @Jello4life Yeah she's not bad but I just simply think her performance was not good.

  • I don't get why they're comparing all these girl singers to Jackie anyways. They sing different styles of music, have different types of voices, all of that. It's almost apples and oranges...

  • uuh she definitely was a little wrong on some notes. But she is really talented, has a great voice and none of us knows how it is like to stand there and sing infront of judges and a lot of ppl watching. I think she did good.

  • They shouldn't have directly compared her to jackie evancho. Sharon said that she doesn't like comparing people and then she went ahead and did.

  • @pingnwhs I had to look him up because I don't watch TV most days however judging by that audition he won’t make it past the semi-finals and DEFINATELY won't win. Sad fact is singers have won every season and AGT is looking to change that. I heavily favored Fighting Gravity last season from what I saw and by this season their looking to make that happen with Illuminate (Not the same thing but I won't argue that here). Shows are about ratings and that's it, it's called business.

  • Someone kill Piers. Right this second. I said now.

  • okay guys listen up. i know this girl. she lives in my neighborhood and she is not all she is cut out to be. her family is full of liers and scammers. her dad whos age i do not know, made a website saying he is a 8 year old boy who has autism. so dont feel sorry for her because she says she is homeless. shes not. she lived in my friends rental house while they trashed it

  • @XXxHardStonexXX not trying to be snobby but can i have some proof

  • @XXxHardStonexXX Proof? People have lied about events just to get on America's Got Talent because producers look for background so they can zoom in on. Hope you can provide proof!

  • Comment removed

  • @ZyanJarrett Okay. I have! I thought she was a wonderful singer! I NEVER thought she was lieing, I wanted Proof because people have lied just to get onto the show.

  • Beautifully spirited young lady with a strong voice, Best of luck Monet!

  • she's good but definitely not perfect

Also i don't like something about her attitude, "umm i think that when i make it to the next round, and when i do, i will....blah" --we can all guess who goes through

That is why i love the other contender Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. for his humbleness and amazing voice.

  • Comment removed

  • I don't think this girl was that great. Kehlani and Anna are better singers. However, I did not like the judges comparing her to Jackie. You do not do that to a kid that young. And Sharon's comment sounds racist but really is not. What she meant was that Monet cannot afford singing lessons because her family lost their house. Nothing to do with her being black. Not everything is about race.

  • She's so beautiful :) Next Alicia Keys!

  • @ekim403 you're fucking stupid, it has nothing to do with being black.

  • We dislike her because she's black. We don't judge on talent, vocal ability, skill or anything else and we base everything on skin color. If you listen to this with the volume ON you will understand what the judges said HOWEVER it was harsh in my opinion for a 12 year old. You had a 10 year old CLEARLY win this contest year but because she was white she didn't. Although every winner has been white and a singer…………..Makes me wonder.

  • @ekim403 LOL - Where do U People come from?

What the??? are u talking about?!! U sound like an idiot.

  • @ekim403 Landau Eugene is black.

  • wtf is up with so many dislikes she de amazing

  • SHe should of sang a more popular song

  • I think she's a good singer, but not a fantastic singer. It's true she she did miss some notes and in my ears she sounded a bit flat, and like Piers, I think she has promise. However, Sharon really didn't have to say what she said about her not being able to afford lessons.

  • I really loved it. She's a great singer. How can she say that she doesn't like to compare, and do exactly just that? "Jackie could affors singing lessons and I don't think you could." What an awful thing to say to a child.....

  • too bad she dint make it :(

  • shes not that good shes ok, their only putting her through for her story .

  • 0:45 ; doesnt look like shes 12

  • What I don't understand is why they're bringing Jackie into this. No shit Sherlock, we know she's not Jackie. You don't need to rub it in.

  • So what if she was a little off key at the beginning? She fixed it and her passion in her singing is amazing! Such a strong voice! And comparing her to Jackie Evancho is wrong because they sing completely different types of music and have nothing to do with each other!

  • Comment removed

  • @victoriab143 I guess its just obvious to some people ; it got me when i heard her sing.

  • Ugghhh... I really wanted to like her from her story... Not the best... Well if she really trains, she can go onto American Idol (if it's still around) or the X-Factor in a few years because she really could become AMAZING with proper voice training because she has it. MAYBE SHARON CAN PAY FOR HER VOICE LESSONS...

  • This is horrible.

    Dislike.

  • Comment removed

  • I cant even watch half the song.. terribly bad..

  • haha did anyone hear someone yell 'BOO!'' at 4:39 whiel Piers was talking? LMAO.......

  • @TheLilystar123 lol boo!

  • @TheLilystar123

Lmao, it looks like he was puking xD

  • how'd "..." get to be a top comment?

  • @BLcookiesgirlheey08

    ur delusional.

  • Monet is on you tube....check her videos under Monet Rebirtha she is rather polished and mature. I believe her sound engineering was off on this video and her you tube accapella videos off a simple flip camera are much better than this poor song choice. You decide look her up!

  • @ZyanJarrett In her a cappela songs on YT you mentioned she is still pitchy. Yes, she misses plenty of notes. She really should get a voice teacher to help her with that, because she really does have some real, real wonderful & good voice qualities.

  • haha im 100% pure jackie evancho's fan since last year..

  • i wanna accent in my name ;P

  • more dilikes than likes.........

  • sharon dint mean to say that; it is obvious though. She was homeless ! Singing lessons would have enhanced hr performance.

  • I don't care for her background, just show me her performace, this is just to fool people and feel pity about him/her and vote for him/her.

    PFFFFFFFFFFF

  • how can sharon say " jackie can afford singing lessons and u cant" that is so racist!

  • @UFO4995 its not racist dipshit. the girl and her family lost EVERYTHING in the hurricane so they aren't well off in terms of money and all

  • Not fair that we have not seen her in the auditions . However , I don't think she is ready yet . In 3 years time she would be great , but not now

  • OMG has n e 1 cked out sharon's statement at 5:22. I am very surprised at sharon, but I guess I shouldnt be huh? She told this young lady that Jackie could afford singing lessons and she couldnt . WTF! What makes her think that? Do I really have to ask? TYPICAL

  • lool 55 likes 55 dislkes

  • First of all, can Piers Morgan identify the notes that she missed? Does he even know anything about scientific pitch notation? What do these judges who are non-musicians, know about flat/sharp notes. I heard different versions, Whitney Houston's and Stephanie Mill's version they hit the highest note in the song, which was the G5 in head voice. This young lady did amazing and she sustained that belted C5 in the song. She has a great voice and I hope she makes it through.

  • @ThePianoguy89 You angery at Piers because he spoke the truth as he's supposed to? It doesn't matter if Piers or anyone can tell you the notes, all that matters is that she missed them. My ears aren't that great and even I knew she missed notes constantly in this song. Never the less, Monet has wonderful voice qualities and I hope she continues regardless of not making tonight. She'll be a great singer with more practice.

  • @crr1950 She only missed the highest note, which she purposely didn't want to do because maybe she wasn't able to hit it. I am a singer as well, Piers always saying that contestants are always missing the notes, in which some cases they don't. Just like Daniel Joseph Baker singing Edge ogf Glory, saying that he missing a couple of notes, he didn't. He was singing an octave lower. They don't really have mch of a professional critique, they just say it just to say it.

  • @ThePianoguy89 I don't go by what Piers said. I heard it myself a few times. Play your piano while she's singing and you'll see she misses more than just the higest note. I really like her though. She can and will improve as Carrie Underwood did. Carrie was pitchy at the start of AI, and with practice and lessons she improved dramatically. Monet will be real good some day..

  • @crr1950 I don't have a piano with me right now because I am not at home, but what note she missed.

  • @ThePianoguy89 Play the piano with the song when you get to one. I wouldn't be able to say which ones anyway as I don't kow the particular notes. Don't need to kow the notes to hear what's going on with them. For instance Jackie E couldn't ID the notes right now because she doesn't know them the names of them, however when singing acappela she can start every song on perfect pitch without hearing a note first--perfect pitch, and continue to sing perfectly-- as she has relative pitch too.

  • @ThePianoguy89 You clearly know about singing, and you know she didn't sing well.

  • @ThePianoguy89 You need people like Piers to judge, because they don't know the technical part of all the acts, but saw a great variety of them and lots and lots of auditions, just like people at home watching this.

They KNOW what sells, belongs in mediocre, or in the trash.

  • @bhouri She has a great voice though and she does sound mature for a girl her age. Piers have to admit when he's wrong sometimes. She's young and she has plenty of time to grow as a vocalist.

  • @ThePianoguy89 You're right piers doesn't know shit about music

  • @kevinmartinez723 He doesn't at all. He doesn't sing or play an instrument. There's a lot more logic to music theory than "missing a note."

  • @ThePianoguy89 did she do ok? I don't think she missed notes like all three judges implied...

  • @kevinmartinez723 No she didn't. She stayed in a comfortable range, that's all.

  • @ThePianoguy89 i don't know much about music but i could hear she was off and flat in parts, but i can't tell you the name of the notes. I just know when it didn't sound quite right. i think it wasn't monet's best night, but she is dang good.

  • @ThePianoguy89 You don't need to be a musician to hear whether or not somebody sings in tune, you just need to have good ears. She really wasn't pitch perfect, although I agree that she has a good voice and could be a great singer in a couple of years if she gets voice lessons. Her comment that she is fully mature as a singer, at her age, shows that she really doesn't know about it, and that's what's holding her back.

  • Comment removed

  • @ThePianoguy89 EXACTLY "First of all, can Piers Morgan identify the notes that she missed? Does he even know anything about scientific pitch notation? • @gymnasticslover96 U SUCK. Being Black is what makes her AWESOME! Havent u heard.

What century u livng in? U better ask somebody.

  • Beautiful girl.....i hope she gets to the next level...

  • Seemed like Monet was trying to win our votes with her emotional story rather than her talent

  • I never saw her at first...

  • Why would you compare her to jackie she is perfect in her own way

  • She is a great little girl but there are many more sad stories like hers with better voices! give her a few more years and her voice will develope.

  • I saw her performance in Vegas Week... OUTSTANDING! I think she just picked the wrong song to sing. Also, I don't think Sharon should have said, "Because Jackie could have afforded singing lessons, and you couldn't." I think Monet if she has singing lessons, she could be a very good singer.

  • I feel so bad for her...

She never got any scenes from her audition or vegas week, so she didnt have a chance to gather fans before hand...

  • shes not on americas got talent for no reason, she has a nice voice

  • why does everyone hate her so much.. my goodness.. shes a young girl with a dream... and i think she has a nice voice. And she came off as nothing less than a sweet person.. give her a freaking break!!!

  • she was terriblE!

  • @sowhat4555 you know at least she had the guts to try it out. dont be udging her cause i bet if you would perform in something your ´´good´´ at, not everyone will like it and you wouldnt like them making comments about you too! and you can say that you dont care what ppl say, but we all know you just say that to act tough.

  • There Piers goes again comparing acts. Of course she's not as good as Jackie Evancho! Nobody at that age ever will be!

  • @rofl1cp I've seen better than Jackie Evancho at her age!

  • I felt bad for her until 4:49.

  • YOU SUCK! I'm sorry..

  • Her singing really wasn't that good

  • Remember Vegas? She passed with that other young girl singer (forgot name)... she probally cut her hair

  • "Jackie could afford singing lessons and I don't think that you could." - something you dont say to a little kid...

  • @kiddycorn3 EXCALLY.

  • @kiddycorn3 I believe it is inappropriate to say I don't think you could afford singing lessons .. what does that have anything to do with their judging and it doesn't have any relevance.. and phuk if they got a problem that she is less fortunate they got the money to help her.. phuk them and that comment..

  • @kiddycorn3

i told my mom about it. u dont point tht out even if it was true.

  • @kiddycorn3 i hear what you're saying, but i think sharon was trying to stick up for monet because sharon thought piers made an unfair comparison...but i totally hear what you're saying. i just think it didn't come out quite right.

  • Really sick of the mentioning of Jackie she was last year get over it he mentioned that with the other lil girl 2

  • yeah jackie evancho was a goddess

  • who the fuck is this? lol....Kind of unfair of how acts are promoted more than others (I'M LOOKING AT YOU SPLASHER MAN!) when it's completely undeserved.

  • i think its unfair that some finalist didn't even get their audition shown. Her and duo aero were not shown at all :(

  • @dardardarwinwinwin10 She got just as much time spent on her as the other people., so she got equal time this week.

  • wtf....i taut the auditions were over??who is this???

  • Ok Jackie was good but the should stop mentioning her. Jackie was last year and is way different from Monet. Why compare the two?

  • @567treehugger jackie evancho is the history of AGT, #1 class. as susan boyle is the history of BGT

  • @RWJsSon ok sure but still she's moved on from AGT she should not be compared to someone else. Not everyone even feels that way

  • She sounds ALOT older then Jackie. I personally liked Jackie better, but I think Monet was also great.

  • @Ocelllian2 I don' think so, at least not in singing, but keep in mind Jackie was 10, Monet is12.

  • Maybe Jackie set the bar a little to high for young singers, If Piers is waiting for another Evancho it may take awhile.

  • @richardoky i think he used her as an example to kind of show that if a pre-teen is going to make it, he or she needs to be sensational.

  • My eyes were watering up and i got emotional while watching this live

  • Will they please stop mentioning Jackie?

Seriously, she wasn't all that special. I've seen way better singers from her age.

  • @MissBleedBack Perhaps there are singers you have liked more than Jackie at her age, but please name one that is actually a better singer.

Keep in mind she is equal and superior to most top notch opera singers in the world in some aspects. For instance can you name anyone with a better passaggio? ..or portamento?

  • @crr1950 There are a few really talented kids around where I live, they may not be opera singers, but they're great singers.

And Prince Poppycock was much better last year, and he was actually at the show from the beginning.

And please don't give me a big ass list of facts about how successful she was like the last person did.

  • @MissBleedBack Has nothing to do with opera, I hate opera. You don't have kids more talent than Jackie where u live. Impossible, as they don't exist. Prince Poppy and all contestants could have sent in a video (was a round)like Jacki did, as that door was open for everybody, besides Jackie did audition in person but it didn't make TV. SAME rules for EVERBODY, so it was fair. Besides you have people here complaining that Monet wasn't shown enough before she sang. She was shown MORE than Jackie.

  • @crr1950 Um, do you live here? No.

So how the fuck do you know whats here and what's not?

I'm sick and tired of fighting with people just because I don't like Jackie and they do, and they're trying to make me like her.

  • @MissBleedBack It doesn't matter where I live, I know there aren't any singers there better than Jackie for their age because Jackie has no equal in recorded history anywhere. No one is trying to get you to like Jackie, but just pointing out she is thousands of times better than you give her credit. I don't like all kinds of singers, but that doesn't mean they're not good. You are mistaking "good" and "preference" Jackie is a vocal Genius.. Period... and I hate her classical style.

  • Monet has SO much potential. :) With some voice lessons & when her voice matures a bit, she'll be Great. :) It would be nice to see her go through over Poplyfe because there are bands (that are) similar but they are WAY better.... So it would be nice to see Monet get another chance. :)

  • Geez Piers, as good as jackie was she was not always pitch perfect.

  • @roygeebivv Please explain where/when Jackie missed notes? I don't mean cracked notes or such as when she ran out of breath, but actual missed notes. I'm not saying she hasn't, but where did you hear the misses?

BTW, no one in history has never missed notes, yet they can be considered pitch perfect.

  • @crr1950

I remember when she sang Time to Say Goodbye and at one point she sounded flat to me (so not a "missed" note), honestly not a big deal, it didn't take away from the performance, but I didn't find it "pitch perfect". I understand that it is virtually impossible to hit every note, but when I consider the term perfect, I mean completely flawless.

  • @roygeebivv I'm not sure she missed any notes in that song. She cracked at the end for sure though when she ran out of gas.. But by your standands there's no such thing as pitch perfect because noone has been always perfect. Normally if Jackie starts a note a billionth off, she corrects it in a billionth of a second. She's very good. Jackie sings a capela and always hits the notes exact.

  • Oh 12.....

  • WAIT, I STILL CAN"T TELL, HOW OLD IS SHE? One second she looks like a kid, the next she looks like an adult...

  • when I first saw her, I couldn't figure out if she was a kid or an adult??? ambiguous...

  • Poplyfe's KehLani tackled a song that she shouldn't have even approached. She missed a crucial note.

  • @HippEcat True KehLani missed a big note for sure.. really morethan one, but Monet missed tons of them. I think KehLani's song was a bit over her head (but maybe she just ran out of gas), whereas Monet just missed notes well within her range.

  • @HippEcat Did you miss the part where they saud Kehlani had lost her voice? For someone who had lost her voice she did extremely well.

  • She has so much more heart than Jackie. I can actually sympathize with her. I want to see her show everyone how talented she is.

  • @HippEcat How is possible to tell how much heart either put into it? IMO part of the reason Jackie is so great is because she totally emerses heself in a song. Her heart is 110% into it. Jackie say she enjoys singing the type of music she sings rather than pop isbecause she is able to put more emotion into it. Anyway, I think it's impossible to measure one against the other in regard to "heart".

  • It was kind of rude of the judges to compare her to Jackie. 2 different genres,2 differents singers. I also think this was better than people put it out to be. I kind of enjoyed it honestly.

    4 moving on should be-

    1.Lys Agnes

    2.Landau Murphy

    3.Monet

    4.Poplyfe

but that won't happen unfortunately so if it comes down to the last 2 then I hope Monet beats out Poplyfe.

  • @MichaelLovesMusic234 Of all the singers KehLani of Poplyfe may have been most on pitch. With Monet the most off, but she has a real nice voice qualities.

  • She didn't even sound like a child. She sounded grown. American Idol isn't too far away.

  • ? what the h3ll

  • If she doesn't make it further than the joke that was Professor Splash, then there isn't hope for America. She's a kid. Give her a break. I doubt any of you all sounded like that at age 12.

  • With proper help, she could be another Jackie Evancho

  • @jdshark000 Unlike what Sharon suggested, Jackie had vey little lessons and was born pitch perfect. For certain Jackie is the most advanced singer for her age in recorded history. A true vocal genius. I like Monet a lot and wish her well, but she missed all kindsof notes in this performance. To make it to the next round she will have to be better, and not miss so many notes if she wants to continue on..

  • anna graceman is better
