wrote this out a while ago just b listening to it, i think it was like 2 years ago or something, my section was full of idiots though so we were never able to play the 1st part, but we would destroy the other bands sousa line when we played transformers, unfortunately i graduated and i was the only one who could teach it to them, so i don't think they will be playing it this year
Being a tuba and trombone player every tuba section except the University of Southern California should take after UGA and play balls to the wall on this wonderful instrument.
actually no ... your NOT supposed to sound like a Mack Truck going down the freeway ... a tube should be dark and rich and full sounding when played correctly ....
maybe during a show your suppose to sound in tune and together but when your having fun and people enjoy you playing this wonderful instrument it doesnt matter how you play unless you are out of tune and just playing like a idiot.
I totally agree, then again, i'm the one that told them to let loose like that. the people of China loved it, and that was the point. We were exposing them to stuff they hadn't ever seen or heard. We also had a ton of fun doing it. We don't play like that in full ensemble.
Being that I am from the west coast and exposed to the sounds of the University of Southern California and the way they play I say all universities should play like that and enjoy it but in full ensemble play together.
that is true, in concert settings, but in marching it's s fun to blast like hell, I do both. Not so much blasting unless the team is loosing, but I also play in a symphony so I can do both.
Here in the netherlands you don't have that many Sousaphones in a band,
Now there is an idea to make band with only sousaphones like 25 or something, where is the sheet music available for so many Sousaphones? Or has the band it made themselves? greetings a Sousaphone player
Yeah imma half to speak to your band director so i can do graduate studies in composition, theory, performance, or education, i want to be a part of this tuba section
