Google "Golden Spike", "Transcontinental Railroad". (Utah) The Chinese worked on that line back in 1868. There are tons of wild Goji Berries growing out there in the high desert. You can take cuttings, which is the best way to propagate Goji.
I don't know where you are located but if you can get there, you will have a really nice, old strain of Goji that is very drought resistant.
I got about 50 cuttings Sunday and they are rooting in my green house now.
@magprob That is great, did you sample any and how do they taste? i will be going up to Utah this year on my yearly travel America quest, so i was wondering if you could private message me on their locations. thank you
I've just learned that they start very easy from cuttings also. Trim your plants, strip off the lower leaves and place in water. I used some rooting juice also. This is the way I'm going to expand my Goji plantation!
Thanks for your video. I learned something about the nutrition of Goji.
This is the second year I've had my Goji plants in and they are 8 feet tall with tons of berries. I started the in Febuary in my grow room and p[lated them out when they were about 3 or 4 inches tall. I gave them mild hydroponic nutes and watered twice a week. I love the taste of them and I swipe a few everytime I water. I am going to take the seed and grow a million of them next year. Thanks for posting this.
I have a "bush" from this batch that's about a year old and it's most likely 7 feet tall. I started a new batch a couple of months ago and they grew so fast and seem way stronger than my other plant that was grown indoors for the first 6-8 months... I can't wait for the berries!
Yeah I did have indirect sunlight... but a few of them did survive though. Unfortunately for the gojis, I live in Canada, so I can't plant them in the garden just yet... I'll do an update video cause the plants are pretty decent in size now (this video was made 10 months ago). I see you're quite successful at growing them! Thanks for the tips!
nah it turns out if you do it right, at the right time in the right place, it could take you no more than 3 months. Mine are pretty big now, so we'll see
thank"s for the video, I am from israel and I am trying to grw it as well, but I thing it is too hot here(eventhough it is winter) it is about 15-25 c in the winter and 25- 40c in during the summer. what do you think is it possible?
Nice! I'm trying to grow my own goji berry bush right now. I just planted them about a month ago and most of them died because I had them in a cold area but I think some of them should survive and if not I'll plant some more until I figure it out. Thanks for the inspiration!
Oh right on! I have one, because the squirrels ate the rest when they were small. I'm just focusing on just this one for now, and it's doing really well! Good luck with yours!
Wow, that's neat. But I have never seen goji berries anywhere except in powder and drink form. Where do you get berries with seeds like that in Canada, besides on the Net?
Thats to bad! I moved from Minnesota 2 Australia when I was 13 so no squirrels or chipmunks, I do have 2 watch 4 some weird tropical birds & (snails)! & our dogs & mostly our cat, darn cat massacred my mexican sage I got from the farmers market. I'm going to grow some red papaya trees too, they grow pretty quick but when planting any fruit u want 2 have 2 of the plant/tree 4 pollination, if not self-pollinating, u can pollinate by hand with feathers from plant 2 plant by feathering open blooms.
I heard some rumour somewhere that they were actually just some berry that because it was from Tibet was thought to be so holy by us North Americans. You used some big words there though that seem to prove otherwise...
Hey you never know. Chinese medicine is all about the shark fin curing cancer, because "sharks don't get it". It's a load of crack if you ask me. Gojis are the shiznat though
excellent info right therrrrr.. thanx man. love the spin sequence in the beginning too! yay berries. dunno if those can actually grow in the tropics. hm. i'll check it out
Ya check it out. They are from Tibet and Mongolia but they have also been growing in the Arizona desserts too. It's a pretty resistant and adaptable plant it seems.
ahh.. anything from mongolia is .... SPICY! kidding. but really, wish i had a plot of land to plant. but anyhoo. i'm looking out for them berries. havent tried it yet
Great vid, I love goji berries. I bought 5 plants from ebay and planted them in my back yard. They are about 4 years old and they are doing well accept for 1. Thats amazing that you got so many growing. I think I might try that. I will be making a vid on coconut milk with strawberries soon. It was my first time trying it and it was really good but now I might putting some goji berries with it. Take care brother..Much Love
