  • cool

  • its more like 2.5% of our diet needs to be protein :)

  • Great video. I want to start growing most of my food intake.

  • thnx for this!

  • Thanks for the tips on growing these berries. I just love them and they cost so much. So I want to grow my own. Thanks Doug in Calif...

  • Thanks for posting this. I live in the same area and will surely grow the goji now.

  • Google "Golden Spike", "Transcontinental Railroad". (Utah) The Chinese worked on that line back in 1868. There are tons of wild Goji Berries growing out there in the high desert. You can take cuttings, which is the best way to propagate Goji.

I don't know where you are located but if you can get there, you will have a really nice, old strain of Goji that is very drought resistant.

I got about 50 cuttings Sunday and they are rooting in my green house now.

I only live 150 miles from there.

  • @magprob

That's awesome man... I'm not that close to Utah though. I live in the greater Toronto area, Canada :)

  • @magprob That is great, did you sample any and how do they taste? i will be going up to Utah this year on my yearly travel America quest, so i was wondering if you could private message me on their locations. thank you

  • I've just learned that they start very easy from cuttings also. Trim your plants, strip off the lower leaves and place in water. I used some rooting juice also. This is the way I'm going to expand my Goji plantation!

Thanks for your video. I learned something about the nutrition of Goji.

  • This is the second year I've had my Goji plants in and they are 8 feet tall with tons of berries. I started the in Febuary in my grow room and p[lated them out when they were about 3 or 4 inches tall. I gave them mild hydroponic nutes and watered twice a week. I love the taste of them and I swipe a few everytime I water. I am going to take the seed and grow a million of them next year. Thanks for posting this.

  • @magprob

    That's awesome! Thanks for sharing.

I have a "bush" from this batch that's about a year old and it's most likely 7 feet tall. I started a new batch a couple of months ago and they grew so fast and seem way stronger than my other plant that was grown indoors for the first 6-8 months... I can't wait for the berries!

  • @magprob mine is like 15 cm and two years old.

  • This is cool, nice video! I planted some Goji berries a few months ago, check out my video.

  • ok so i live in usa very close border to canada where can i get the seeds at

  • @balonibalibasering

Yeah I did have indirect sunlight... but a few of them did survive though. Unfortunately for the gojis, I live in Canada, so I can't plant them in the garden just yet... I'll do an update video cause the plants are pretty decent in size now (this video was made 10 months ago). I see you're quite successful at growing them! Thanks for the tips!

  • no worries,

    good luck dude.

  • did you ever get a harvest? how many ounces/berries per plant?

  • haha oh no no... it takes a loooooooooong time to grow a mature plant. I don't expect a harvest in a few years

  • @mrjimmypayjo How many years does it take for the plant to get berries? I'm not getting any younger here!

  • Years your serious? I want to plant these but damn that is long im gonna have to nutriant nuke the hell out of those things :)

  • @superjew1000

nah it turns out if you do it right, at the right time in the right place, it could take you no more than 3 months. Mine are pretty big now, so we'll see

  • arigato! This is great news i want to grow my own food and have the healthiest stuff ever! Thanks agin have a good day

  • Oh boy! I want to grow goji berries, they're so great i love them!

  • I am a Goji Berries FREAK!!!...lol

  • thank"s for the video, I am from israel and I am trying to grw it as well, but I thing it is too hot here(eventhough it is winter) it is about 15-25 c in the winter and 25- 40c in during the summer. what do you think is it possible?

  • I think it's possible! Try it out and let me know how it goes!

  • Nice! I'm trying to grow my own goji berry bush right now. I just planted them about a month ago and most of them died because I had them in a cold area but I think some of them should survive and if not I'll plant some more until I figure it out. Thanks for the inspiration!

  • @craigelliottmusic

Oh right on! I have one, because the squirrels ate the rest when they were small. I'm just focusing on just this one for now, and it's doing really well! Good luck with yours!

  • i love goji....nice pears huh

  • i am going try this i am in memphis

  • Wow, that's neat. But I have never seen goji berries anywhere except in powder and drink form. Where do you get berries with seeds like that in Canada, besides on the Net?

    Any ideas?

  • yeah, you could get them from Nature's Emporium, Whole Foods, Planet Organic, Big Carrot, and even bulk barn :)

  • WoW thanks. I'm in Ontario too! How are your plants doing now??

  • I have one left... haha. The rest got eaten by squirrels. The one I have left is doing well though! I might do a video update soon

  • Great presentation~

  • I cant get any fresh goji berries where I live I can only get the dried ones could I still grow these?

  • yeah, that's what I used!

  • Cool, great idea :)

  • cool thanks im going to grow my own too and maybe some acai palms and aloe vera plants

  • good luck! Watch out for the squirrels and chipmunks. they dug through all my baby plants leaving me with only 3... haha

  • Thats to bad! I moved from Minnesota 2 Australia when I was 13 so no squirrels or chipmunks, I do have 2 watch 4 some weird tropical birds & (snails)! & our dogs & mostly our cat, darn cat massacred my mexican sage I got from the farmers market. I'm going to grow some red papaya trees too, they grow pretty quick but when planting any fruit u want 2 have 2 of the plant/tree 4 pollination, if not self-pollinating, u can pollinate by hand with feathers from plant 2 plant by feathering open blooms.

  • Thanks! Gonna do it. Love the music. Many Blessings

  • How cool is that!!!!!!!!!!!

    I have to try this!

Love the music on your vids. So very Edward Scissor hands!!!!!!!!!

  • Danny Elfman is the man. I love his movie scores :)

  • Can you use the ones from sunfood nutrition???

  • sure!

  • Do you know of any minerals that might help them grow???

  • awesome idea thanks for sharing.

  • GO GO GOji!!

I heard some rumour somewhere that they were actually just some berry that because it was from Tibet was thought to be so holy by us North Americans. You used some big words there though that seem to prove otherwise...

  • Hey you never know. Chinese medicine is all about the shark fin curing cancer, because "sharks don't get it". It's a load of crack if you ask me. Gojis are the shiznat though

  • Way to grow your own superfood! Great looking little plants and a fantastic idea.

  • i go through a pound of gojis every few days. they love me and i them. wow. goji love.

  • wow, that's some serious goji love right there. is that just you, or conjoined with your cafe?

  • My goji berries have not started growing yet but when they do. I will make a vid.

  • awsome need to buy them, what kind of store did u buy them from?

  • you can get them at any heathfood store you have near by. I got them at 'Nature's Emporium', but I'm not sure if you have that store where you live.

  • excellent info right therrrrr.. thanx man. love the spin sequence in the beginning too! yay berries. dunno if those can actually grow in the tropics. hm. i'll check it out

  • thanks!

Ya check it out. They are from Tibet and Mongolia but they have also been growing in the Arizona desserts too. It's a pretty resistant and adaptable plant it seems.

  • ahh.. anything from mongolia is .... SPICY! kidding. but really, wish i had a plot of land to plant. but anyhoo. i'm looking out for them berries. havent tried it yet

  • So simple! I am going to go soak some berries right now.

  • Good luck :)

  • Great intro!!! Information packed as usual. Always great to watch. They should show this in schools. lol

  • Thanks! That would be so awesome to see things like this being taught in early education

  • Great vid, I love goji berries. I bought 5 plants from ebay and planted them in my back yard. They are about 4 years old and they are doing well accept for 1. Thats amazing that you got so many growing. I think I might try that. I will be making a vid on coconut milk with strawberries soon. It was my first time trying it and it was really good but now I might putting some goji berries with it. Take care brother..Much Love
